Bud's name is very important to Bud's mom. One reason is she said that its the thing everyone watches before the flower goes into bloom. Another reason is she kept repating it to him. Bud doesn't like his name. One reason is everytime Bud's mom said it felt like she didn't really mean it. Another reason is ever time she said it felt more plain.

ReplyDeleteIt would be good to give up a fight because you know it's pointless to fight with someone and it could lead to trouble and you could get hurt. There is no point in fighting because it makes the problem worse. For example when Mrs. Amos told Mr. Amos to take Bud to the shed Bud did not fight with them. This says that Bud is smart and knows that he should not fight and don't do anything bad back. Like when he wanted to get revenge he looked at the shotgun and thought about it for a second but then he knew he should not use because the Amos's would shoot him if he did.
ReplyDeleteIt would be good to give up in a fight because if you don't you might get really hurt or you might hurt the other person and get in big trouble.You also should give up on fights because it doesn't get you anywhere in life and it doesn't help you become what you want to be you might not even be able to get a job if you don't give up on a fight.
ReplyDeleteThis says Bud is really smart and knows when enough is enough unlike some people I know.Bud was taught to walk away from a fight not go on with it because you think it will make you cool but it really won't it'll make kids be scared of you.
The reason Bud's mom explained why she named Bud Bud is because one things his name is important. Bud's mom thinks that Buddy is a dog's name and if someone called him that they were being unfriendly. She also named him Bud because she thought that he was going to do great things. HIs mom would ask him, "do you know what a Bud is?" "Yes, momma," he'd say. But she told him anyway. She said, "A bud is flower, a flower to be. A little fist of love waiting to come out of the ground. And that's you." He thought it was girly but the name Bud meant something to him.
ReplyDeleteOne to just stop fighting and give up is because you know your losing and if you keep fighting your opponent will keep beating you up. Also another reason to just give up is you are just worn out and tired from the fight. What this tells us about Bud is that sometimes he will just give up and look forward to the next problem. One example is in our character traits chart at school one of Buds traits is a planner, also this tells us that Bud will sometimes just give up.
ReplyDeleteBud feels about his name that after his momma gave him the name Bud she told him never to let anyone ever call him Buddy, for example at the orphanage in chapter 1 when a women asked him "are you Buddy Caldwell"? Bud corrected her, frowned then said "it's Bud mam not Buddy." Also when Bud was telling they story of his momma {before she died} he mentioned how his momma kept squeezing his shoulders. She looked him in and said again "Bud from now on your name is Bud don't let anyone call you Buddy you understand me"? Yes momma said Bud, not Buddy.
ReplyDeletei think that probably bud's mommy feels something because she named bud after her father and probably he's gone to heaven and she misses him and could'nt probably get without bud and she was so stressed and bud is the one kept her going and being strong that she gave out. Also i think that bud thinks about his name and probably bud thinks about his mother when someone say buddy but his momma said"let nobody say buddy your name is bud nothing else you got that". so bye
ReplyDeleteBud's name means a lot to his Mom because Bud means a flower waiting to bloom and love waiting to be shared with the world. For example, in the text it said that Bud's Mom said to him to never let anyone call him Buddy and the name Bud meant a flower waiting to bloom. Bud did not mind his name but only said "yes Momma" and "no Momma" because his Mom would squeeze him if he wasn't listening. Also his Mom had a temper.
ReplyDeleteI think this is true, because it doesn't make sense to get into a fight that will get you hurt. For example, Bud got beat up by Todd and for a while decided to fight back. Then he started to get tired of fighting and realized that it didn't make sense so he stopped. Also he was afraid that Todd might use the shotgun, and then claim it was accident. While this was happening Bud mother hit with an belt made him say sorry, for something that he wasn't sure what he did wrong. Though to make it better he just let it go. I believe that he is a strong person, he just knows when too let go.
ReplyDeleteGiving up in a fight is sometimes good because if some one is beating you and they are really strong and you are hurt then don't just keep fighting because the person will keep hurting you so give up. For example when the Amos's where angry at Bud, he didn't fight back because they would abuse him so he gave up.
ReplyDeleteWhat this rule shows about Bud is that Bud is reasonable, smart and brave. For example he didn't cry or say any baby words or beg not to be locked up in the shed and he didn't try to bust out of Mr. Amos's grip.
Bud's name feels important to Bud's mom because she said that a bud is a sprouting flower over and over again. She wants Bud to really remember about that. Bud feels half bad that his name is Bud because people always call him Buddy. The other half of him likes his name.

ReplyDeleteBud believes that you need to toughen up at a young age. I know this because, Bud said, "It's at age six when grown-ups don't think your a cute little thing anymore, it's at age six that grown-ups think you know everything they say." He said that at his first foster home (When he was six) taught him toughen up real quick.
