A Letter to MLK

If Martin Luther King, Jr. was alive today and you could write him a letter, what would you say?

What questions would you ask him?
What would you tell him about your own life?
How would you thank him?

Dear MLK,Thank you for everything that you’ve done which is: Making peace in the world, helping black and white people come together, being the best person alive ever! We (me,my class 317 and 5th and 4th grade and also teachers and parent’s) are marching to Borough Hall! We will also be holding signs up representing: Peace, love, earth, care, animals and other things. And everyone will always love and care about you! You also are the best! And we are marching on Borough Hall on your honor. I also have one quick question for you which is: If you would march in any country or state to march in what or which would you go to? For my sign/poster I chose: “MAKE PEACE IN THE WORLD!” Love,Sarah P.S. I loved your “I Have A Dream” speech! And what I have learned from it is always care about everyone even if there different or not.

  3. Dear Dr Martin Luther King Jr,
on January 13th 2023 my class will be marching on Borough Hall, like you did in 1963 in Washington. We are all protesting about different things but my cause is Womens rights, Women are currently getting bullied because of their looks and their jobs also. And from that I've learned to not be sexist to people. So i want to ask can you can you change that because being sexist is bad. Also i want to say thank you for changing the world and making that beautiful I have a dream speech it was so powerful and amazing. So i want to say thank you because if you were not here the world would be torture.

  5. Dear. Martin luther king ,Jr. I am marching on Brough hall to spread awareness of polar bears going extinct, in your honor of marching for jobs and freedom. Now how much time do you spend on protesting? Why did you decide to start protesting? and last question what was your favorite thing to protest? If I didnt get cramps while writing/typing with my hand I would ask you so much more. A couple of days ago my class and I studied about the 6 principles and a little about you.I picked polar bears because polar bears are dying at an alarming rate cause of climent change. so more people should donate money so the polar bears can get the medicine they need to survive the climent change. Love sunny (ps. you're an amazing person and social activist also a wonderful leader.)

  7. Dear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,

My class is going to march to Borough Hall like you did in 1963. I am going to be fighting for Ukraine and to save them from Russia, and I was wondering if you can make a speech to a lot of people to help save Ukraine. I picked to save Ukraine because my family is part Ukrainian and I want to show a lot of respect for the country. Thank you for changing the world in 1963 from your famous I Have a Dream speech. Thank you for all of your persistence to save the world and have equal rights. On my class's March to Borough Hall, we are representing the March on Washington. I am wondering how you had enough courage to make your speech. Also, how did you feel when you changed the world from your I Have a Dream speech? You are the best role model for kids. Do you have any tips for me because when I am older I want to lead a march just like yours? My class read your six principles and they are all very powerful messages. My class is going to be learning about you for one whole month. Will you come to Borough Hall and march with us? The March is on January 13, 2023.

    Love,
    Charlie

  8. Dear dr. Martin Luther King jr.,
I am sending a letter to you for a class assignment. My class is doing this in honor of the march on Washington. Every year my school does a march on Borough Hall where we make signs, protest, and sing civil rights songs such as This land is your land, The black national anthem, and Come on up the Harriet Tubman song. For my sign it says “Save Endangered Species!” Why I wrote that is because a lot of the animals we love are getting hunted so much they are almost extinct, I doubt people would want animals to get extinct, right? Even though colored people have the same rights as white people there is still racism in our world. There are still protest including Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate, is there anything you can do about this? My class is studying your 6 principles of non-violence, I have taken in so much from your principles, they are valuable information, I really appreciate them and I really appreciate you too.

  9. Dear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,

My class and I are doing a march at Borough Hall.
My poster says do not take elephants tusks.
    Any suggestions?
Even if the Washington D.C. march was bigger, ours is in your honor.
Some posters even have a drawing of you on them.
We also learned the six principles of nonviolence that you said.
It is amazing that you changed a law simply in a year with your speech.
Thank you for all you have done, including changing a law in only one year and bringing hope to people’s life.

    Warm regards,
    India

    P.S. Your « I have a dream » speech was AWESOME!!!

  10. Dear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
I am a child taking part in the march on Borough Hall, an annual march hosted by the Zipporiah Mills Elementary School in Brooklyn that commemorates the march on Washington, one of the most significant marches in history. In school we learned about your six principles and they are truly powerful words. I am protesting for the unhoused to become housed. I want to protest to aid community centers in their effort to give homes to the homeless. This would allow less suffering to be inflicted upon the lives of the homeless. I am standing up for this because I see many homeless people obviously suffering when I'm on my way to school and I want to aid the community centers and them in their effort to end the suffering. Many of the homeless are suffering so much, they cry and try to make sport to focus on something else except the pain, and often the sport is so intense I know it takes a lot to focus on something besides the pain.
Your cause on the march on Washington was much more important, but not now because when you marched you marched so intensely and heartfeltedly everyone knew this was your life's goal: to change the world. And you achieved that. Your perseverance touched the hearts of millions and you succeeded in your goal. You changed the world. You are an amazing man.
Your "I have a dream" speech was a truly amazing speech that changed the face of the world. I learned from it that freedom and love are truly the most powerful forces ever, and they are to fight for.
    Warm regards, Kenan

  11. Dear Martin Luther King Junior,
My class is doing a march on borough hall to honor your march on Washington in 1963.
My cause is save the planet because I once read a book and it and it showed the world in 50 years and I thought that if we did not do anything the world could possibly end up like the earth in the book.
    Do you have any advice?
Your six principles were very inspiring and taught me a lot about nonviolence.
I have a few questions for you now.
What would you do if you were going to march on borough hall?
How could you be so calm in such racist times like the 50’s and 60’s?
I really appreciate what you have done in 60’s to change the world for people in the present and so they did not have to go through the same racism that people in the late 1800’s to the early 1960’s had to go through.

    Love Brian

P.S The speech you did in D.C which was the have a dream speech was amazing

I am marching on Borough Hall with my entire class like you did in 1963. How can you stop people from polluting the Earth. I have learned about the six principles. One of the principles is Love instead of hate. I am marching with my poster that says Earth is Life. Thanks to you Dr. King, Life is now full of Freedom and Equal Rights. In your famous I Have Dream speech, about Black girls and boys, White boys and girls holding hands came true. Thank you Dr.Martin Luther King Jr, for Equal Rights for all people and for your speech that changed the world to a happier place to be.

What inspired you to create the speech I have a Dream. How did you feel after the I had a dream speech? My life in 2023 is great because I get to go to the movies, to restaurants and not face segregation. In 1963 kids didn’t have the same rights. Thank you for changing history for people everywhere. Thank you for protesting for equality.

Dear Martin Luther king jr. my school has a tradition where at borough hall in your honor and hold signs just like the people at the on March Washington. My signs is a signs that represents stop polluting the ocean and the reason I picked stop polluting is water is a very important thing for living and if people throw trash in there we can’t drink it so that’s why I chose stop polluting.
