Africa: A Diverse Continent

Sometimes people think of Africa as being the same throughout the continent, but the truth is Africa is incredibly diverse. There are 53 countries in Africa and between 2000 and 3000 languages spoken there! Many of these languages are only spoken by small groups of people, so they may soon become extinct.

What do you think the United States would be like if each state spoke a different language? How would our lives be different?

    1. if each state in the United States spoke a different language, the life in the USA would be very different. If people spoke different languages it would be harder to communicate and no one would understand each other. Another example is some people can not be friends because they do not know what your saying and it will be boring.

I think that it would be harder for people to coaperate , and to comunicate. Also, to have a convorstation with people espesialy for tourists.to comunicate with a normal conforstation we would either need to know every languege or need some sort of high tech comunicator.I know this because we would not be able understand our family from a different state. This is my prodiction for what would happen if every state spoke a different languege .

  3. I think it will be confusing because we would not know what people are saying. We would not communicate with other people. We can't play with other people and get to know them. I think going to another state would be boring because I wouldn't know the language. It is annoying to want to talk to somebody and they speak a different language.

  4. i think it would be hard to understand because we talk one language and they talk another so if we dont understand how are we going to talk to our friends and family so ,y prediction is its would be hard to understand every state if they talked a diffent language from isamary

  5. I think it would be hard to communicate with relatives, unless they knew your language or you knew their's because they live in another state and spoke another language. Also how would you know thier language unless you had a computer program that taugh you other languages, and if you had a problem you could't tell anyone.

  6. I think that Is cunfusing because some people talk different ethnic language that we do not understand.

And I think it is good for us because when they talk to us the language we learn new languages.

  7. I think it would be a lot harder if the U.S.A. had a language for every state. This is because if we just met a new kid we would not know what language he speaks. Also if you need someone's
help you might yell out the wrong language and no one will help you. Another reason is you could forget one language because you are learning a different language.

  8. I think it would be hard if the u.s.a had different languages because if you had a toy and you didn't know how to use it and you looked at the instructions but you didn't understand the language you wouldn't ever know how to use the toy. Also learning a language is hard and it takes a lot of practice. Finally you would have to learn a lot of languages and learning one language is a lot. these are my reasons hope you enjoy.

  9. It would be very hard if each state spoke a different language because if you were visiting another state no one would understand you. What could happen is lets say you fall and you ask for help and your parents aren't around no one could help you, they would probably go,"Holy smokes what on earth is that kid saying?"Also that could happen if you just moved and you were in school and you didn't understand classwork, homework or ANYTHING and you couldn't tell anyone because they wouldn't understand.

I think it would be hard to communicate because when the president has a meeting with the governors of the states he would have to learn more than one language. If everybody was not able to communicate with people from other states, we wouldn't be able to have friends from other states. If you were going to trade with another state, it would be hard to talk with them. If you weren't able to trade, you would have to rely on your own resources. If you don't have the right resources, your state might disappear. The funny thing is, I learned all this in a game called, "Civilization Revolution".

  11. It would be harder to travel because we don't speak the same language. I would not be able to talk to my grandma because she lives in a different state. Also I would not be able to make new friends that easily. But, on the other hand, it would be fun learning a lot of unique languages. I am glad we don't have 50 languages to keep track of.

  12. I think that if the U.S.A had a variety of languages it would be cool but difficult.I think this because people travel a lot. This means you wouldn't be able to know much about where you were. An example of this is if you were on a tour it wouldn't have much knowledge about it at the end. Another reason is that you would most likely need to know a lot of languages. This would be fun but overwhelming. (Unless you didn't want any friends)! My final reason is if you DIDN'T know 1 thousand languages when you were going somewhere by plane, you would not know how to come back. These are my three reasons.

  14. If each state had its own language, it would be bad for the United States. It would be bad because if you went to another state and did not speak their language, then you cannot communicate with them. You would have to know more than one language to communicate.

  15. IF each state spoke a diffrent language I think the world would be confusing.people would not be able to understand each other.also because if somebody has a friend in another state the wouldnt understand them. Hope you like CHANEL JONES

    1. add on/helpful correction.
when a teacher or kid is from a different state they will not be able to communicate. So there would be no learning being done.

    2. Also you could say that they couldn't do homework or classwork because you wouldn't understand it ,and you couldn't tell a teacher or anyone because they wouldn't understand you.

  17. If every state spoke a different language the world would not be interesting any more I think this because if you have the privilege to speak a different language it gives you more privacy in your life. So,if every state spoke a different language there would be no one that con teach you that second or how ever many languages you learned. Also if you have relatives in a different state you would not be able to communicate with them. For example my cousin Elias lives in new jersey so I would not be able to speak to him. this shows how I think the world would different If every state spoke a different language.

  19. I believe that if people in different states spoke different languages, people would have to work harder to communicate. I think that if languages were different in different states it would be a nice opportunity to learn different languages like in Europe were people learn other languages easily.

  20. my dad couldn't speak with his boss in New Jersey. homework would be different. if a teacher moved from any other state he can't talk with his students.

  21. It would be hard to communicate with each other. I know this because it is hard to learn a different language. If you read the newspaper or watch the news you would not understand. When you meet people from other states they would speak a different language. Sometimes people would think you are teasing them because they will not understand you. If you want to read a book, you'd have to bring it from your own state because other states would speak, write and read differently.
