  5. Dear incoming Fourth Graders,

Somethings I want to tell you are… Always be yourself while you can, don’t let anybody change you or stop you from being your authentic self, be proud of who you are. MAKE MISTAKES!!!! Don’t be shy when you make mistakes, always hold your chin up! Everybody makes mistakes and everybody learns from them. If you don’t learn something the first day you were taught it don’t worry and don’t beat yourself up about it. Just know you’ll learn it the next day, it happens to the best of us. If you are in Ms. S class next year that’s great. Ms. S explains things so clearly and she is the best of the best. She is one of the greatest teachers EVER! I learned so many thing in Ms. S class. For example in math I learned more multiplication, Division, more addition, more subtraction, geometry, more about fractions, multi- step word problems, and decimals. In reading I learned how to develop a theory, I went up a few levels, I learned how to make multiple types of theory charts, and I learned how to make a connection from ome book to another. In writing I learned how to use descriptive language, I learned more on how to paraphrase, I learned how to go through all of the writing stages. The writing stages are: Gathering, Drafting, Revising, Editing, and Publishing.

    PS:

Don’t be afraid to share your opinion with the class. Class 4-317 is a sanctuary place, a place that won’t judge you, a place that you love, a place full of kind helpful loving classmates, a family, a beloved community!!

  7. The advice that I would give to all new fourth graders is to try your best, because it is not going to be a piece of cake. You should study a lot to try to get ahead of the class. When you take a test keep your eyes on your paper and don't copy off of other peoples answer. They could possibly have the wrong answer that you thought was right. Listen carefully to your teacher because the things that she tells you can help prepare you for the future.

My experience in 4th grade was a bit difficult and yet fun. I learned a lot. We had writing celebrations, we ate food from different cultures, and did plays. We had to take ELA test and more. Overall I enjoyed my experience in 4th grade.

  8. Incoming 4th graders here is some advice... HAVE SO MUCH FUN and IT'S THE BIGGEST EVER. I say this because middle schools review your last report card you have to do tests too. But enough of the boring stuff here's the exciting stuff you get to learn about different cultures and your teacher will probably tell you about whats going on in the world.I HAD SO MUCH FUN IN 4TH GRADE.(IT'S THE BEST). :)

  9. I would tell the incoming 4th graders to be prepared for fourth grade because it is tough but fun. I think 4th grade had tough tests and limited times to do certain tasks. But you will also do fun things like plays and gingerbread houses! But 4th grade is a VERY important year and you should really try your best. 4th grade report cards help you get into middle schools(not that you should be worried)! 4th grade will show you how to study for tests, which is something that you really know how to do! It will also show you that not bringing your homework is important privilege. So overall, 4th grade is pretty tough, but there are fun things in it!

  10. Dear 4th graders,
One thing you should know about being in Ms.S's class is that you should know your multiplication facts 1 through 12. You should know these because we have multiplication tests at the end of every week, which you study for the days before. Later comes division fact tests, which you could get a head start on and study these multiplication and division facts over the summer. Ms.S is like no other teacher you've had. She really works you, but it pays off. You learn a lot and become a very good student. You should also practice writing and reading over the summer. You should work on coming up with big ideas when reading. Now,I've been through some hard situations this year, but I've gotten through them. But that took working hard. You have to work hard in 4th grade and persevere. And be kind to each other. Be caring, sympathetic , helpful, understanding, hardworking, and more. Be part of the Beloved Community. Don't hate, you have to love each other. My class is like a family. I hope the same for you. Good luck!
    Sincerely,
    Sara

I would say to be organized and get more mature because in my opinion fourth grade is a turning point of behavior do your best because this counts for middle
School. Also I would chose to embrace school more because if you don't embrace it you are going to get very stressed out because there are a lot of projects and you should never let loose because you will be working until the last day. Also be more social in free time to have an even better year. Also listen and you can be almost be guaranteed a 3

I have had a very fun and good year ms.S made things more fun then they were I loved researching about many things and also socially it has been a great year for me but I hope can stay in touch with ms.S and most of the other kids. I am excited about the sunflower contest

  13. Dear new fourth graders,

Make sure you try your hardest in your work because fourth grade report cards are the ones that middle schools see but there is nothing to worry about because all the fourth grade teachers are awesome especially ms.s she is kind, funny, educational and soooo understanding.fourth grade was very fun for me and i'm sure that you'll like it!

  14. Dear incoming fourth graders

I enjoyed being in ms. Scarborough's class very very much. And since I loved being in her class then I would you that you would like it also as much as me, or more then me. I love ms. scarborough. Because you will never have to be shy around her. And the first day of school I was super shy, but after the days when by I didn't get shy anymore because then I started to realize that I was being shy for no reason. I really liked her because she will never judge you for what you're saying or the way you look. When you are in ms.Scarborough's class you will not let others change who you are, because you have to try to be your authentic self. The best thing that I like about Ms. Scarborough is that she really prepares you for fifth grade, and she sometimes gives us fifth grade homework to so that you are not struggling when you get to fifth grade. For every subject we do Ms.S teaches us a lot of stuff. For example in math these are all of the subjects we learned: adding and subtraction, rounding, fractions, decimals,LCD (least common denominator), how to use a protractor, long division, multiplication and division. I really hope you like her.
PS. she loves everyone, even if you get in trouble, she still loves you.

  15. Dear New 4th Graders,

Some advice that I would give is that you should listen to what the teacher says. It is very important also to write down what they say so you don’t forget what they teach you and you can practice it later.

Some other advice is to never complaint about your work and just do it. I know this because 4th grade will push you in many ways like: writing, reading, math, and more, and if you complain you will waste your time and you won’t have it done.

My last piece of advice is that you always need to focus so you can finish your projects on time.

I hope you enjoy 4th grade as much as I did and have Ms. Scarborough as your teacher.

    -From Mateu.

  16. Dear Fourth Grader

My advice to you is …

    1. At the end of the year it is not the time to run free and act out it is the time to work even harder than you did before because the middle schools will be lookin at the report cards and will be determining whether or not you should go to their school.

    2. If you plan on going into fourth grade acting like a goof troupe you better rethink that because in fourth grade there is no monkey business because this is the year where you show the middle schools how talented you are it’s your time to shine your time to sparkle.

  17. one piece of advice is to listen to everything very careful because if you know what it is you can get it done faster. 2. always listen to the teacher no matter what you do. 3. make sure to have a great school year next year.

  18. Dear 4th grader,

if you get Ms. Scarborough as a teacher and she gives you a lot of home work don't say she's being mean she is just trying to make you understand (and she is really nice!!!)

I've learned a lot in math. I say this because when I first did algorithm, I was really bad at it. Then the next day I told her and she said she will explain it better today in math. Also, I've gotten better at reading because in the beginning of the year, I was a level p/q and now i'm a level s.

    P.S

don't cheat on test because your not really learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Dear Incoming 4th graders,
Have a wonderful year with Ms.S. and remember kindness always matters. My first piece of advice is just be yourself. No one likes a follower. Or someone that tries to be something that their not. My second piece of advice is mistakes are one of the best things in life. If I could change any mistakes that I made I wouldn't fix any. Because I would of never learned from them. My third/last piece of evidence is focus. If you don't focus or at least try to you will miss all of the learning. HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH MS.S!!!! : )

  20. Some advice I would give in letter form is…

    Dear Fourth grader,

Fourth grade will be pretty hard if you don’t keep up with the work and try your best. That is one of the best lessons I,ve learned along with listening, persistence and a few other things.Another thing I would like to tell you is that your teacher loves you and cares for you. Your teacher is always trying to help you. He or she may be strict or opinionated but she/he cares for you. Also, fourth grade is the most important elemementry school grade. They use the grades from fourth grade for choosing what middle school you go to.I hope you love fourth grade!

  23. Dear incoming fourth graders,
some advice you might need for fourth grade is to make sure when the teacher's talking your listening carefully all time. When you go back to your seat, you'll know exactly what to do.Another piece advice you might need for fourth is to always be who you are and don't go under peer-presure .when you go under peer-presure your trying to act like someone your not.For example, don't try to act "cool" because there is a "cool" kid around.only stay in your own shoes not anyone else's shoes. One more piece of advice you might need for fourth grade is to make sure you get tons of sleep at night because the work is going to be challenging and not to forget, it's also going to be a lot of work.don't get nervous though because with my advice and other peoples advice(mostly fourth graders),you will do great.
