Most people don't but the Native american villagers do! A lot of them were going to come settle into what is know known as New York City! Even though hundreds of years ago it wasn't called New York City. It was called Manahatta which means Hilly Island. One of the biggest Tribes in New York was the Laurentian Tribe. They were excellent farmers just as many more New York tribes. They grew crops and hunted animals. They loved their language and their culture. Those two things were very important to them. They even spoke other languages! They tried to protect their tribe and would always fight for each other. They told many stories that have been past down for centuries and are still here today.

ReplyDeleteToday I learned that the French and Native Americans had a war. But it was really a war between the French and the British and the Native Americans took sides. This was interesting because the war in the Eastern Woodlands drove many of the tribes out of the woods and into the western prairie. Another interesting fact I learned is that the Europeans were also at war. In the beginning of 1689 the French fought the British for control over North America.
