Do you think all kids should get trophies for participating in sports, or should only the best players be awarded? Explain your thinking.

    I think that everybody on a team should get a trophy. I think this because if you only give one or a few people then the other players will feel sad, and this can also cause problems with jealousy.

    I think no because kids will be lazy and not care for their trophies.kids would also just want trophies so they could show it off and still not try to win.kids would get so many trophies the sport would not matter to them.

      It is hard not to want to show off a trophy. I agree with your statement that you might not care for your trophy if you didn't work hard for it.

    I think kids should not get trophies because if you don't get a big one kids should not be upset because at least they got a trophy. They should not break trophies that they got. The people that got a trophy did not even earn it. They should not get trophy if they don't even practice

      I agree with jayden because if they owned the big trophy they should not brake it,slam it to the wall you should take care of it because you won it.

    No. Because kids who do not try their best will think their very good because they keep on getting trophy's. One reason that people should not give you trophy's just showing up is you will think your good and won't practice. A second reason is they would not care and won't think it's special anymore. That's why I disagree.

      Practice is important and just showing up is not the same as giving it all you got. I agree with that, Shayma. It is important to really have fun with the activity too. Good job.

    I think only the good players should get a trophy.Because the winners practice.And those who didn't win learn to lose.

    No, I think that not every kid should get a trophy because if you work very hard to get a trophy and the other kids that didn't work hard also get a trophy without working hard then it isn't fair. Also, if you don't work hard to get the trophy and someone else does then you won't care about the trophy as much as the person who worked hard. If everyone gets a trophy then trophies don't mean much.

    I don't think every kid should have a trophy because if every kid got a trophy the value would be taken out of it. If a kid did not try hard but still got a trophy a kid that did try hard would be discouraged. It can confuse you because it might make you think you can awarded for anything.

    I agree that kids shouldn't always get trophies.These are my 3 reasons why I think that.One reason I think that kids shouldn't always get trophies is that the first time you get a trophy you feel proud of yourself,but when you keep getting a trophy you don't really feel proud so much because it's nothing new.So basically you get a trophy for nothing.And my second reason I think kids shouldn't always get a trophy is because it sends the wrong message. And that wrong message is you don't always have to get a trophy even if you think you deserve it.My third and final reason is when you get a trophy and someone else doesn't, they may get jealous and angry at the same time, even though you put all the hard work in to win the trophy.

      Kameron, good point. Sending the message that you will always get a trophy or reward for your hard work is unrealistic. The reward sometimes comes from within, knowing you are giving it all to the activity you love.

    No,I do not think kids should get any type of trophie because 1 the other kids on that team could get sad or mad that they did not get any trophies or any trophie.2 if kids keep on getting trophies they could think in there head: Oh, these trophies I'm getting don't mean anything to me anymore,I guess I'll throw some away.And they could regret doing that.And 3, I think kids should get trophies by earning those trophies.

      Sam, good job defending your answer. It can be really difficult for young children to wrap around the idea of special recognition and winning a trophy when everyone gave it their best effort.

    I think that every kid should win a trophy fair and square. The kid named Lucas in the story won a lot of trophy by not doing that much work. I don't believe that he should have won all those trophies in the story.

      Fair and square is a good way to think Seven. Sometimes in the effort to make things fair we take out the challenge for kids.

    All kids should get trophies if it is there first or second game or if they are 3 4 5 or 6. If it is your 4th 5th 6th 7th or 8th special game only 3 people should get a trophy because you will be happy and not think it is useless. That is why I think all kids should get a trophy.

    no,not every kid should get a trophy.One reason is that it's just getting a trophy for nothing.

    Another reason is that then they will think that they are the best but their just getting a trophy for no reason.

    ANOTHER reason is that if they keep getting trophy's they will start getting tired of it and they won't have enough space in their room.

    No every kid should not get a trophy.I think the kids that actually show up and participate and try really hard to win should get trophies.The kid that show up and do the worst things for the team shouldn't get a trophy because they didn't do anything

    I think everyone shouldn't get a trophy.These are my 3 reasons why.

    1.My first reason why you shouldn't give every kid a trophy is if a kid worked really hard that kid would think some other kid did better than them.Even though he did the best.
    2.The kids wouldn't work hard because they know their going to get a trophy.Plus they wouldn't get better at baseball.
    3.You would get bored of receiving trophys.

    No, because if someone was late to practice they wouldn't get a trophy. But kids who were there on time would always get a trophy.

    Showing up isn't a good reason to be rewarded a trophy. A kid should do more than come to a game, they should be good at the sport. Children that are given trophies for showing up are not earning their awards.

    Yes schools should have art classes because children need to express their self and be creative and they will learn something helpful.You get to make origami and sculptures
