Choose one thing you have learned. It could be the peer coaching we are working on in class now or a lesson in math, reading, writing that added to your thinking. Explain this idea in detail giving specific examples and why it is important to you. We are working on strategies to help us in math, reading and writing. What can you say about a lesson that stuck with you and was helpful to make you think in a new way?

The first thing I learned in miss Scarboroughs class is to be kind to each other and to work as a team,an example is when we were writing today Leila was helping me how to do it on the computer and she was doing it in really kind words.Another thing I learned was to teach people and to not boss them around but to be kind and loving to them.Another thing I learned is in writing revision is one the most important things in writing a piece. One thing I noticed at the start of the school
ReplyDeletewas that not many people were helping each other but now everyone is helping everyone and that makes me think how good our class is.
nice i learned that too:)

DeleteI like the way it was so long and it had a lot of details.
DeleteI lerned that the key to teaching is to be very nice.
ReplyDeleteAlso when you are nice to people they want to lerned more from you .when you talk to someone nicly it makes them fell happy and cared for.
I love your work!
DeleteThis year I learned that when you are revising a story that you wrote you also need a partner to read your piece and tell if there are sentences that you don't need The way that I learned that is when Haven said that when she was working with Bebe, Bebe said that there were sentences that she didn't need or that there was sentences that were missing.
DeleteThanks for being nice to me too, you're a great partner.
DeleteSo far in fourth grade I have learned to treat others respectfully and always be kind to each other. For example, Ms. Scarborough tells us to always help explain math questions to each other, and be nice to someone if they don't understand something. Ms. Scarborough also makes sure that we help each other in our writing groups and not judge each others work in a bad way. This is important because if we're nice to each other and everyone feels respected then we will learn better. For example, my friend was nice to give me an idea about writing when I didn't know what to write.
ReplyDeleteevryone did grate
ReplyDeletei talking about math and i learned about the exspereins of doing math with the community its just grate to feel the love of all friends helping me . evrybodys grate no mater what any body says to you and i learned to understand more about rounding
ReplyDeletewhatI learned in fourth grade that even if you have your own efficient way of doing things it is really good to listen to other peoples thoughts! I know this because if you listen to other ways yo can do something, you might find an even more efficient way that works better for you. You might not find a better strategy or way, but it is good to listen and learn a new way just in case. also I learned that if you want to learn from someone else you need to be NICE to them. if you are not nice to that person, but boss them around or say that are wrong they will not be able to teach you anything which makes this really important. An example of someone being kind to me is when I needed help on a math problem and a fellow student helped me by walking me through the problem step by step intend of saying I was wrong and telling me the answer. telling someone the answer is decreasing that persons learning. I think these two rules are very important and everyone should follow them!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
Deletewhat i learned in fourth grade so far is that if you be nice to others and they will be nice back. for example when i smile to ms.s she smiles back and when i am in partnerships and i say you did a good job or something else nice, that person says something nice back.it is important to be nice because if you are good/nice you will get something back thats nice and good like if you give someone a hug you will get a hug back or if you give someone a compliment you will get one back like with me and Prianka when i said nice headband she said nice backpack.
ReplyDeleteI love your work!
DeleteThat is really true Molly!
DeleteWhat I learned with ms . Scarborough so far is to have fun learning and be nice and they'll treat you right back. I understand when she explains it to me. It's very cool when I learn a new thing . When I learn a new thing I tell my parents and when they hear it they like the good news. Ms . Scarborough taught me lots of strategies for my math and their very cool
ReplyDeleteIn class so far I have learned two value things. 1 is in the beginning of the year . It was when I was doing math and i had a problem doing doing the algorithm, but a kid was done with her sheet and she taught me how to do the algorithm. Next I learned to be kind and help others . Also when you are helping others to say it in a polite voice and today when I was doing writing and I needed help with spelling Jalen and Jose helped me spell and they said it in a nice voice and it really helped. Those are two valuable things. I learned so far. I think people should use these rules. Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteWhat have I learned? I learned that math is not just about equations on paper, because during the coach/rookie exercise I had to explain a math problem. It's hard to talk about or explain equations. On paper, it's about the answer. But when you explain, it's all about how you're able to solve the problem. When you're explaining to somebody, you're also not allowed to give the answer. So if they don't put the pieces together, it's even more complicated than when you started. It's important to know how to explain Math because in the real world you're not going to tell somebody, “I need a minute. Give me a piece of paper.” You're going to have to put mental math and explanation together.
ReplyDeleteI love how you added all of your detail!
DeleteI have learned why we work together and be nice to each other at the same time . Because if we didn't , Instead of talking normally we would be YELLING in the room and when we yelled nobody would hear anything and every body would start yelling louder and louder.
ReplyDeleteAlso people listen and pay attention more if you're really nice and not mean. And if you're mean or yelling to you're partner you're partner is probably going to get angry and yell or be mean back and nobody likes that.
On the first day's of school people weren't being as nice as they could But they have improved and are really nice and respectful now.
I love your work orli
DeleteWhat I learned so far in forth grade is that you need to work hard and practice so that you can get better at your math, reading, and writing.I also learned that if you want some body to be your friend or you want them to help you, you have to be nice to them and you have to help them too.
ReplyDeleteSo far i have learnd to be kind and nice to others. One detail is that when i said ''i like your headband '' to ella she said to me ''i like your shirt''. Another detail is that when i said ''your story is grate'' to Molly she said''i like your story to''.I think that this is importent to me because,if you are nice to someone ells you will get kindness back and that fells really good. And it also is just nice to be kind to others. ;) :)
ReplyDeleteI have learned that you need to be kind to be a part of our community. Miss.S is my teacher and we both feel strongly that being kind is REALLY important.
ReplyDeleteMy statement is important because you NEVER want to be mean in life.
Andre used to be the school bully ( just like Gerald Willis ) and you would ever want to be like them.
What I learned in fourth grade was when some is in a daze, you say in a polite way to focus. You should help them. And I also learned to read more fluently after the advice that Ms. Scarborough gave me .I learned to get better and neater with my hand writing .
ReplyDeleteI liked learning the peer coaching because we could share our ideas and what we thought and our math outcomes. Peer coaching is when you work alone for a period of time. Then you come together and you come together to share your thinking and results. The reason I like it is that you can see other ideas of your classmates thinking and also sharing your ideas to the class and helping others to explain or understand the problem with guiding them not telling them the answer. I think this helps me to learn even better than before and can help all of us. This is why I like peer coaching. Bye!
ReplyDeleteI learned how to organize my writing better in 4th grade. I learned how to write a thesis statement. And I learned how to write a few things about my development. It is important to be organized when writing so people can understand what you are trying to say.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've learned so far in fourth grade is that it is easier to learn when somebody is not trying to just give you the answer when helping. If I am just telling you the answer, you’re not really learning anything. For example, there is a math problem and someone gets stuck on it, and so somebody wants to help and then they are just like, “now the answer is 132” or whatever number, then they aren’t really helping you to understand the problem. One lesson that made me feel different was the lesson today. I say this because I got confused and I just thought that it would be rounding to the nearest 100, I didn’t know it could go to the nearest ten..and that’s really what changed my thinking, like when we had Simon say the answer, I was really shocked because my answer was doing it to the nearest 100, because I didn’t think ahead that you could do it to the tens. So I went back and I figured that you could round to the nearest ten.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned in fourth grade is that not everyone thinks the way I do.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good thing that we are not always thinking in similar ways because the world would be a boring place.
When you share your opinions, feelings and knowledge you get to see what you need to work on or simply enrich yourself.
For example; when I was working with another kid on writing, I thought that my piece was perfect. He pointed out that I need to work and improve the middle part of my story. That gave me a key to a better story.
When you are honest about what you feel and give a truthful opinion they know and learn what to correct about themselves and their work.
Sometimes when you are straightforward with others you can find out more about yourself.
One time I was helping my friend to understand a math problem and got deeper into the problem as well. When I explained him what the problem meant, I pushed myself to verbalize my math explanation, since had to explain the problem in words.
When I open my heart to other students and fulfill them and myself with education I feel good and they feel good (I hope!). It makes me want to come to school every day and learn.
Well… almost every day, I am a kid after all.
I have learned that there are several ways to solve a problem and that you really have think of a efficient way to solve the problems. It is important because then you see a problem from a different perspective. People think differently.
ReplyDeleteI also learned that you also have to listen to the person helping you because if you don't listen you won't get the problem.
ReplyDeleteBeing in fourth grade has made me learn place value. I've learned place value has ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. Each number has it's own place. Place value is a lot diffirent than any stratagy I've used. When I do algyrythym I sometimes use place value. It makes it more efficent. When you use agarythym you take the first number from the right and put it in the place value chart.

ReplyDeleteWhat I have learned so far in school were about writing, reading, math, and social studies.Math is usually about the strategy and the new ones I learn. The reading and writing we do is about learning new words to put in our words. at home I search these new words and use some of them in my writing.
