  1. What I want to learn about the native americans is what's the difference of the Lenape tribe and the Iroquois tribe. I'm interested in this because I myself haven't studied either of those subjects and they both look very interesting. Another reason why I chose that is because I think the two tribes are very different but I don't know how. I think that topic on native americans will be very new and interesting on my brain.

  2. one thing i know is... they did not buy there clothes in stores they had to hunt animals and make there skin into clothing.another thing i know is that...they used a fire and cooked there food over it instead of using a stove like we do now to cook our food.i would like to learn what they wore for spacial events. i would like to learn this because today we where dresses and suits and everything all fancy and such and i would like to know what they wore because i am pretty sure they did not where suits and dresses like we do.and i am wondering if they wore jewelry or dresses or fancyish clothes sorta with like beads or animal skins.

  3. On thing I learned about the Native Americans of new York is that they grew 17 kind of corn, 60 kinds of beans, and at least 7 types of squash. I'm wondering "where did they find the seeds to plant everything?". I know they would gather rice, and I'm wondering "where did they gather it from?". The Native Americans would make drinks and candies from maple trees. I'm wondering "what's the climate of where maple trees are?". Lastly, they hunted beavers, otter, muskat, deer, and other animals. I'm wondering " where did they find the habitats where these animals live?".

  4. Something I know is that the Iroquois make their longhouses/homes and when they move they have to make a new longhouse, and a longhouse can hold up to 20 familys something I want to know is HOW they make their longhouses.

  5. I know the Native Americans of New York made dresses out of deerskin. I want to learn more about what Native American kids played because 1) I play Monopoly and The Game of Life and other games, and it would be cool to know how to play other games. 2) I am a kid so I like to know what other kids play so I can play it too, and 3) it's cool to know about kids our age a long, long time ago because things are so different now and you don't really know what happened in the past. I also want to know about long houses, but it would go on and on forever but then people would lose interest even though the topic is interesting.

  6. I know that the Iroquois, and most native americans, live in longhouses. Longhouses are very long houses,(pretty self explanatory), that, most of the time, are made out of logs. I also know that native americans, as you probably guest, do not go to a clothing shop! Instead, they make their own cloths. My question is how do the make their own cloths? I have been trying to look this up in class, as it is my main question, but I have not come across anything yet.

  7. I have learned a lot about longhouses. But what I want to learn is did the Native American children go to some sort of school? If they did I want to learn if woman were allowed to go to school.I want to learn this because I have to go to school everyday by law. Also I know for sure that at some point woman couldn't go to school and I want to know if that has always been true.

I have learned so far in this unit of study is that the Iroquois tribe had a peace law, where all different religions are welcome. No one will be forced to live like others or participate in actions that they don’t believe in.
Something I would like to learn is: what was their government like? How was their leader chosen and how did they make and agree to rules and laws. Did they have certain houses or places that they lived in or worked in? I would like to know this because in the world that we live in now, we vote for president and the president and mayor vote for certain rules to be made. The president also lives in a very special house- the white house! I just wonder how strict they would be back then. Was their government made up of tons of people… did they even have a government?

  11. What do I want to learn about the native Americans? I want to learn is how did they build the long house and why did they kill animals to make there clothes? I know that the Iroquois made wholes in the long house. The house's were about 20 feet [ 6 meters wide] the length was 100 feet [122 meters]. Boys and girls help there mom work. The moms make the clothes as there job, they make clothes by hand! The long house is very long! There are beds in the long house. when the native Americans were here in new york it was very different but now is not like back then!

I agree with you Gigi about the past being different then the future because now we have apt buildings and big houses but back then they didn't have what we have now.

I want to know how the Native Americans make a fire with out a match. I want to know that because when we make a fire it is usually on the stove and the Native Americans don't have stoves. I also wonder, if they always cook their food on a fire and how they get their chicken easy and their steak well or do they all just eat their steak well? I want to know that because when we want our chicken well we just ask and when we want our steak medium well we just ask. That is what I want to learn about Native Americans.

  14. I know that they were called Iroquois and a man named handsome lake got drunk and went into a coma and he saw a dream were the giver said give up alcohol or give up life. After 2 days in being in a coma he said we should do are celebrations again for the seasons and hunt. Not only did the Iroquois listen but also so did many other Native Americans listen and also act. My question is how to make a wampum belt? And were did they get the beads? Wampum belts as I know are a symbol of peace or war or trading and many other stuff. This is what I know and wonder about Iroquois.

  15. I know that when Iroquois girls get married they have to marry boy from a different clan!!! I also know that they made their own clothes which is... pretty hard with no sewing machine! …easier said then done. I wonder how they they made their clothes? I think you can't find the answer to that question in books because nobody really knows about the Iroquois tools. I read a lot of books and i didn't find any thing about how they made their clothes.

  16. What I know about Native Americans is they make longhouses made from the bark from a tree. longhouses are 30 to 200 feet (9 to 61 meters) and 15 to 25 feet (5 to 8 meters) high. Big longhouses could hold up to 100 people at time. I want to learn how they hunted, if they had battle crys, how they made their weapons and if they used metal to make them.

  17. I want to know what kinds of clothes the Native Americans Tribe wore. How do they make their houses? How do they feed themselves? How does Native American hunt or get food? How do they cook? I know that the Iroquois and the Algonquians are the two tribes.

What I want to learn is why do the Iroquois make up these stories that are so fascinating and I want to know what these stories resemble…what are they supposed to mean? How did they get such good ideas to think of such creative stories for their culture. The reason why I ask this is because today I've been reading some of their tales and they sound so interesting that it made me wonder how they get those awesome ideas for their stories.

  19. I know that there is a long house/hotel space called a longhouse where about 30 members of a tribe stay and call home, there are about 100 longhouses in one tribe/village. dunk him in a stream or river ,this is "giving" him a fearce and stable body.Soon after a child of any sex is born they have to drink animal oil. These are my questions:
1.How did they make there tools at the the very beginning?
2.When , why, and how did they make fire?
3.Were there schools for the kids or were they home schooled?
    4. Did they have medicine's to cure diseases ?
    5. Did they build inventions like fire bowls, teepees, and long houses?
    6. Did the kids have toys? if they do, how are the toys made and what do they look like?
    7. Boys have a time when they play games and celebrate. Do girls play and celebrate too?
    8. if tribes and names are made from animal names, why doesn't 'Iroquois' and 'Lenape' sound like an animal name. Maybe 'Lenape' or 'Iroquois' are how they say turtle or something like that.
    9. If the girls and boys celebrate and play games, sometimes do men and women do too?
    10. if they do, what kind of games or celebrations do they do?
    11. Did they have scientists of any sort?
    12. how do they make medicine? Do they even have medicines?
    13. They grew the 'three sisters' but did they grow trees?
    14. did they make greenhouses?
    15. Is there such thing as a spy and a scout?
    16. did they write letters of any sort? if they did, what do they write on and what do they write with?
    17. Did they have any gardens or did they just have fields?
    18. did they have pets those times?
    19. Were there birthday parties?
    20. Did they have properties of golden jewels? or did they have other stuff?
    21. Did they have a president of some sort for their tribe?
    22. There is a list of names that if someone has a name that is on that list then it is crossed out on the list. That way no one gets the same name. Do they make new names once in a while?
    23. Were animals like bear and wolves a threat to the indians or not?
    24. Did kids have friends of a different sex?
    25. Do boys and girls at the time get to choose who they marry?
    26. If the parent chooses who their child will marry, than what if the child does not like who he or she is to marry? will they ignore each other all the time or not and do something else?
    27. In an indian tribe like the 'lanape' or 'iroquoise' can you get divorced?
    28. do some girls hunt and fight and some boys stay home clean garden and make pots?
    29. do they have temples or places to worship their spirits?
    30. do women have free time or do they cook clean and make pots and stuff like that all day?
    31. did they have big boats and ships or just canoes?
