One authors message that connects to me in Bud, Not Buddy is family. I know this because Bud doesn't have a mother, uncle, aunt or anything! I think that everyone should have a family even bad people. But Bud, he doesn't have a guardian or someone to take care of him, he is just living on the lam scared of lots of things, But now that he met Herman E. Calloway all of that might change because he may be Buds father. This connects to me because I have a family and they are the best things in my life. This is a authors message because Bud may not have a family, because his mother died and that was the only family of his that he new of, but then before his mother died she had this flyer with Herman E. Calloway on it and she was really mad at it.
ReplyDeleteAn author’s message that spoke to me was don’t get carried away.
ReplyDeleteThis message is important to me because sometimes I get carried away and it takes a little while to come back to my senses.
Text evidence for this author’s message is all the times Bud gets carried away.
Like the time when a seed idea turned into crashing a car into a tree, or when he saw the bottles of blood in the front seat of Lefty Lewis’s car, he thought he was a vampire. When Bud gets carried away, something bad usually happens not so far after. This is my author’s message.
I think one of the author's message in bud not buddy that connects to me is lies because well bud belives that you should make rules when your a orphin that are going too guide to survive the open world so as he goes along he is going to try to rember them this connects to me is how when my mom and dad tell me to follow a rule i always try to remember it just like bud trys to remember he's rules :)

ReplyDeleteOne of the authors messages is that Bud has a good side to him and a bad side.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why this message is important to me is that, Bud has a very strong good side and a very strong bad side.
My text evidence for, Bud has a very strong good side is:
1.He always says "Yes sir"or"yes ma'm".
2.At Todd's house he put down the shotgun because it was too dangerous.
3.Even when he thought there was danger (of "Left Lewis sucking his blood") he opened the window when Lefty asked him to.
And my text evidence for, Bud has a very strong bad side is:
1.He lies more than 5 times a day!
2.He poured water down Todd's pants so that it looked like Todd wet the bed, to annoy Todd's mother, Mrs.Amos .
3.He stole Lefty Lewis's car ,just because he thought that Lefty Lewis was a vampire.
Bud has much more evidence that his sides are strong, but I can not name them all.
Bud has a good side and a bad side.
In Bud, Not Buddy the author's message is that you have to care about somebody in your family and that they'll always be with you no matter what. In the book when Bud saw his father he said that he wasn't his father but he recognizes that it's his father because he saw him before even on the blue flyer so he could remember him very very much. His father forgot. Bud misses his mom and his dad. Bud thinks of his mom a lot and cares about his real family- not the one that adopted him.
ReplyDeleteOne of the author's massage that stuck out to me is that if you HAVE to lie to survive it is ok to lie I know this because Bud lies to survive because he doesn't have anyone to take care of him.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he has to lie to get to places like he had to lie to lefty lewis to get to grand rapids to meet his "dad".
In Bud Not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis I think the authors message is that you have to be brave to get through hard times. I think this because Bud goes through really hard times and gets out of them because he is brave. For example, when Bud is in the Amose's shed, he gets out even though he is being stung everywhere and his hand is cut very deep because of the fish head. During this he doesn't really stay calm, but he does not cry or huddle real small in one spot of the hut and let the Hornets sting him. Also, the book said that Bud had been to a lot of foster homes including the one where he had to go to the Amose's house. That is a lot of pressure for a 12 year old, and the fact that Bud did not cry is very brave of him. Lastly, when Bud missed the train he did not break down to the fact that he had just missed the train that gave him a ride to exactly where he wanted to go, plus, he lost his best friend that was so close he could call him a "brother."
ReplyDeleteI think the author's message is keep it cool when it's a bad situation. For example Bud has no mother that's hard on a person but Bud is ok with it because Bud is a fighter and is ok with it. Another author's message don't get to upset. For example Bud doesn't cry anymore but Bud still has empathy for Jerry at the orphange because Jerry was sad that he had to go to a house with girls but Bud said they are going to treat him nicely.
ReplyDeletea message that stood out to me in the book bud not buddy is to always be brave no matter what.i know this because when bud was sent to the shed to sleep by the amosis ( there was a bees nest and fish heads pined to the wall with sharp teeth) bud wanted to start crying and yell help! help! but he did not and just walked write into the shed with out crying or anything. Also when bud missed the train and bugs was in it bud not start crying or braking in to teres like most kids would he just waled all the way to gran rapids for flint and i do not think that any other 10 year old would do that. this stood out to me because i think it is really important to be brave no matter what because if you are not brave you can not get through bad situation and bud really shows that through out the book.
ReplyDeleteOne of Christopher Paul Curtis's messages in Bud, Not Buddy is that life is not fair. One of my reasons to support this is Bud's mother died, so he had to go to a foster home because Bud does not know his father. Another reason is that Bud had to sleep in a shed with hornets attacking him. And the shed his finger got cut from a fish head that was attached to the door. But While Bud had to sleep in the shed, in the Amos' house, Todd slept comfortable in a nice bed.
ReplyDeleteThese things show that the author is telling us people don't always get what they want in life and because Bud not buddy during the great depression there were a couple rich people, but a lot of really poor people, and life wasn't fair.
one authors message stands out to me one the author shows is true the one buds mom said when one door closes another one opens meaning when something bad happens something good will happen making you forget about the bad thing. i think this message is true because when bud went up to Herman E Calloway he thought he was really old and maybe just maybe to old! and he began having his doubts about him being his father and then Herman said "enough is enough" Bud totally changed his mind. also when he thought they were not going to let him stay and he was about to make a run for it they let him to sweet pea with them. and lastly a little back in the book bud saw the blood in the back of lefty louis's car he thought he was a vampire until lefty louis told bud the real reason he had the blood. now i have shown you why i know this message when one door closes and another one opens is true and that is why it stood out to me.
ReplyDeleteOne of the messages that spoke to me in the book Bud not Buddy was the message when one door closes another door open. In September I was really sick and my mom said when I got better we could go somewhere special. I chose Atlantis and it was really fun. I would't have been able to go if I didn't get sick. In the book, even though Bud missed the mission and didn't get food, he met the librarian and she gave him a sandwich. Also, when he was homeless because he ran away and things seemed really sad, then Bugs came and another door opened.
ReplyDeleteI think an authors message in the book Bud Not Buddy is the importance of family. Bud thinks a lot about family. Before his mother dies there are really no other people in his family that were mentioned
ReplyDeletein the book. After she dies Bud really wants to find Hermen E. Calloway, the guy in the flyers. He thinks he is his dad. When Bud finds Herman he is disappointed because Bud was not what he thinks he was going to be. He was stiff and old and mean. Maybe he is like this because he lost some one he loved, because if he is Bud's father he could have lost Bud's mom. Also in the book he makes FAMILY, like at the soup kitchen, the pretend family. If someone cares about you it may not be your actual family, but it is a different type of family. For example, my mom's best friend is really close to me and I call her 'aunt Janet' even though she is really not my aunt, and she takes care of me sometimes. But real family is also important because my mom goes to work and I go to school and I miss her. Also without family I would not be as good as I am now.
I think the author’s message in “Bud Not Buddy” is that life is hard. ☹☹☹
ReplyDeleteOne reason I think this is because Bud is an orphan living on the street during the Great Depression. Many people in the Great Depression were starving, not even counting an orphan on the lam. Bud sleeps under Christmas trees at night.
Another reason I think this is that Bud’s mom died when he was six. ☹☹☹ He lives without his Mom. He barely has any pictures of her.
That is why I think author’s message in “Bud Not Buddy” is that life is hard. ☹☹☹
Bebe I agree with you a lot because life is hard in the real world and Bud Not Buddy are showing a lot of actions that show that life is hard.
DeleteOne of the author’s messages is that, after you know someone longer you start to trust them. This is true because Bud started to trust Lefty Lewis by answering his questions truthfully. Also, after he spent some time with the band that had his so called father in it, he started to trust some of the members in the band and told them the truth even his rules told him to lie.
ReplyDeleteA thesis statement that speaks to me is Love Your Family. the reason why it's a author's message is that Bud missed his father a lot. He said that he would be crying when he pointed herman if his eyes didn't "cry no more". Also he misses his mom a lot. It seems that he doesn't want to talk about her a lot. The reason it speaks to me and should speak to everyone is because If you have a family and you don't love them, then you could make them feel... sad. Also they could think you dont love them, even if you do. that is why you should love your family, why it speaks to me and why it's a author's message in Bud, Not Buddy.
ReplyDeleteI think that one of Christopher Paul Curtis's authors messages is that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover because judging a book by it's it can hurt the persons feelings. One of my reasons why I think that shouldn't judge a book by it's cover is because when Bud was meeting Mr.c he was talking to him and he was thinking wow my father is very mean and stubborn but Thug was saying that on the outside Mr.c was mean and stubborn but on the inside Mr.c was a loving, caring, and sweet person. That is why I think that one of the authors messages is that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
ReplyDeleteGREAT JOB NADIA!!!:)
DeleteOne of the lessons I leaned from Bud,not Buddy is that you should all ways keep on trying to complete what you are trying to do. This lesson is important to me because I never thought of trying to complete something even though you have a little bit of time. Bud went to a lot of city's just to find his father and that is being very strong. I want to be that strong and try something new! Thank you Bud,not Buddy for teaching me a lesson!!!
ReplyDeleteMy author's message is that even if your life seems bad people can help wether you know it or not. It means something to me because sometimes one part of my day is bad and then it turns good.1.) He was found by Lefty lewis and Lefty gave him a huge breakfast and drove him all the way to Grand Rapids. But then, when Bud got in the car he started thinking about other things and forgot about the breakfast Lefty gave him. 2.) When Bud came in, when the band was practicing, before they learned that he had no family and might have put him in a home they decided to take him to the restaurant named Sweet Pea. 3.) Bud had just escaped the foster home that Todd and the Amoes lived in and a family pretended he was their older son, so Bud could get breakfast. All this shows that even though your life is bad people can help you, wether you know it or not.
ReplyDeleteI think that the author's message is not to lie all the time. My first reason is when Bud lied to Lefty Lewis that Herman E. Calloway, Bud father, was happy to see him and he wants to thank Lefty Lewis for bringing Bud back into Grand Rapids but actually he was hiding in the space into the lobby not actually talking to him and when he said Herman was happy, Lefty Lewis thought that he should give Bud to Herman by hand but then he would find out. These are the reasons why his lie would get him in trouble. My second reason is when Bud said that he lived in Grand Rapids when he did not and so he got sent back to Flint . These are my reasons why I think that the authors message Is not to lie all the time. It stand out to me because I used to lie but I learned you just get stung in the butt right back at you. This is why I think that the authors message is do not lie all the time.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Bud, not Buddy, one of the author’s messages is: sometimes you are underestimated. I know this because people say just because Bud is skinny and flimsy he can’t fight or eat. But when Bud was sleeping under the Christmas tree by the library, he defended himself and almost stabbed Bugs with his jackknife. Also at Lefty Lewis’ house, he had to watch himself while they were eating because he knew he could a lot more than everybody else. Bud walked halfway to Grand Rapids, then Lefty Lewis found him. I would not be able to walk halfway from Flint to Grand Rapids.
