The secret garden and the dragon in the sock drawer are simaler and different in many ways. One similarity is that both Jesse and daisy and Mary find out secrets. These secrets are sort of both magical because jesse and Daisy find a dragon in a sock drawer and I think we can all agree that that is pretty magical. Mary finds a secret garden, and thats not acctually magical, like theres not actual magic happening there, but Mary really does think of it as magical. Another similarity is that both characters have at least two people in on the secret and in both books the people who are in on the secret work together to save something. In the dragon in the sock drawer that something is Emmy, the dragon they find in the sock drawer, they save her from the evil dragon slayer Saint George. In the secret garden that something is the secret garden itself, they help tend it and make it grow. One difference between these two books is that there are much different problems. In the dragon in the sock drawer, there is a bad guy that tries to steel Emmy and slay her. In the secret garden, theres no actual bad guy, theres just every day problems with people and helping Colin realize that he's always had the strength to stand but just never tried because he didn't think he could. One last difference between these two books is that one of them is realistic fiction and one of them is fantasy. The dragon in the sock drawer has a mythical creature and is therefor fantasy. the secret garden could have happened in real life so it is realistic fiction.
ReplyDeleteIm going to compare bignate from the big nate books and johnny from a show called johnnytest.Nate is a boy in fith grade but he doesnt like because he siad its to boring and hard just like johnny test.but they do have promblems out of school to. Johnny test have to annoying sisters thats very smart and they do exsperamints on him.Nate in one of the books he yells out his best freinds last name wich is very imbarasing.Fransis last name is buttherst but-therst. so they broke up as friends and nates goal is to get him back. so i think these two characters hate the same thing and they both have alot of promblems in there life.
ReplyDeleteTeen Titans Go and Clarence are similar because they are both cartoons that are animated. Another reason that they are similar is because they are both made by Cartoon Network (a TV channel) They are both very very popular and fans talk about them all the time (Me) Another reason that they are similar is because both of them are very stupid in a way that it is funny and they make me crack up. My final reason is that they are both about children/teenagers. Teen Titans Go and Clarence are different because Teen Titans Go is about super hero teenagers that are really lazy and they don't act like super hero's and Clarence is about three friends that go around having fun. Another reason is that in Clarence the three friends are mostly in school and in Teen Titans Go the teenagers are at their home most of the time. These are the differences and similarities to these two shows.

One of the similarities is,That both of the books have mysteries.My evidence is,In Vassa In The Night when Baba Yaga keeps calling Vassa 'Half-Vassa'.At first Vassa thinks she means Erg, but Erg had a piece of her mother in her not Vassa.And In Space Case , Why would Ms Nancy lie to Dash about the cameras in the bathrooms?I thought "because she is the killer!"
My second similarity is,
There is murder in both of the books.
My evidence is,When Mr Holtz says (in sign language) Darth killed him.
Also Sinister, in Vassa In The Night, kills Tomin.
The difference is that Vassa In The Night is not a mystery book exactly,And Space Case is.
In this I will tell you about and compare and the movies: Star Wars force awakens and Percy Jackson .And I will tell you about a character named percy jackson from percy jackson and ray from Star Wars force awakens. My first reason why these two movies are similar is that there both trajic. For example in percy jackson his mom turns to stone and goes to the underworld.And in Star Wars force awakens Ray sees fin get hit by a light saber. Another reason there similar is that they both have to fight. For example Percy has to fight monsters and ray has to fight the dark side. From all of this I think these to characters have some similaritese.

DeleteIn the war that saved my life Ada and Jamie are similar because they both went thou the same things in there life like they both had to deal with there "mam" because she is like the meanest mom in the world for example she is always yelling at Ada and Jamie for no reason like she says "you are the worst kids ever you should be ashamed of your self you will never be able to go outside!" But Ada and Jamie are different because Ada has a club foot so she can not walk so when ever she talks back to mam she will be put in the cabinet...

DeleteThe two TV shows I'm picking are Teen Titans Go and Steven Universe. The two shows are similar because they fight evil monsters and crime. Both characters from each show have special abilities and sometimes they face very hard challenges. The differences between the two is in Steven Universe they live on a beach and in Teen Titans Go they live in a city. On Teen Titans Go, one of the characters on the team has no powers, but on Steven Universe everybody has powers. On Teen Titans Go, there's five people on the team, but on Steven Universe there's four.

DeleteZootopia and animal world are similar because in Zootopia there is animals in like a animal city staring them an in animal world there is animals living in a giant town who are also the stars of the book. this shows that they are similar to each other. but Zootopia and animal world are different because in Zootopia the animals talk and in animal world the animals do not talk they sense things. this shows they are different then each other.

DeleteI will be compairing theys to: land of stories by chris colfer and back to the fucher. these to are sisaler because they are both about non realistick things like in the bock land of stories there are fairy tales and magic and in back to the fucher there is timechravle. these to are also simaller because they are about family. in back to the fucher Marty ( the main character) go's back in time to when his mom and dad were teens and his mom falls in love with him and that could cause Marty to no exsist if the mom dose not meet the dad and so Marty hase to get them together. And in the land of stories Alex and Coner's ( the main characters) mom gets kidnapt by the evil queen and alex and coner need to save her and she is there only pairent there dad died in a car axsedent. But these to are diffrent because land of stories is about magic, spells, fairy's ,and more stuff like that but back to the fucher is about si fi stuff because there is a time chravle car and that is not magic and fairy's and such. These to are also diffrent because in land of Stories there are diffrent portals to go into the fairy tail world but in back to the fucher there is a car that can go backwords through time and fowerds through time. so these resons show that these to are booth simaler and diffrent.

DeleteThe book "Emily Windsnap" and the book "Smile' are similar because in "Smile", Raina is finding who she wants to be and what group of friends she wants to be with. In "Emily Windsnap", Emily is finding her true identity, and who she wants to be. But they are different because "Smile" is a real life story. It's about the author, Raina. But in "Emily Windsnap", it's fantasy. It's about a girl who finds out she is a mermaid. Mermaids aren't real, so it's fantasy. anyway, 1 way that Raina is finding who she is is that she starts to learn in high school that her group of friends are not who she want's to spend her time with. Then soon, she gets a new group of friends. 1 reason Emily is finding who she wants to be is deciding wether she wants to be a human or mermaid.

DeleteI really like your response Lillian, and I agree with what you are saying. I think that you did a good job with using details from your stories to support your compareing and contrasting. I don't know the book Emily Windsnap and I think you did a good summery on it to help readers who don't know the book understand it better. I love the book smile, but I do think that there is such a thing as mermaids! Of course theres such a thing as mermaids! But your right, the book is still fantasy. :)
DeleteI am going to be comparing a book and a movie. The book and the movie that I am going to compare are The Baby-Sitters Club Kristy's Great Idea and Star Wars The Phantom Menace. The Baby-Sitters Club Kristy's Great Idea and Star Wars The Phantom Menace are similar because they are both series and both of the series the stories are different from each other but with the same characters. The Baby-Sitters Club Kristy's Great Idea and Star Wars The Phantom Menace are different because they have different characters and different story lines. What I mean by different story lines is that The Baby-Sitters Club Kristy's Great Idea's story line is that a group of girls that are friends form a baby-sitting club and Star Wars The Phantom Menace's story line is that Obi- One Kenobi is a young Jedi in training. That is what I mean by different Story lines.

DeleteI am going to compare and contrast team beach 1 to team beach 2. Those moves are kind of the same they compare because my first piece of evidence of evidence is in both moves it is all about these people that came from a movie that came to real life and dose not know how the real life is so they meet two people that watched the movie to help them learn the real life. But in team beach movie 2 it is different because in the first movie they were learning how to be normal but in the second movie they knew how to be normal so they had to learn how to be normal at school. But in the second movie they could not stay in the real world because they disappeared and could not stay so they had to surf away but after that the people did not know each other so the whole movie started all over again. I love both of the movies the class should see it!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going to compare and contrast Harry Potter’s fifth book and movie: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteSomething that is similar about them is that Harry complains about being special, as he does in the movie. He may complain a bit less in the movie, but that’s because the movie needed more action than a wizard- Drama-Queen.
Another reason that the book and movie are similar is because they involve Harry’s visions. This surprises me because they don’t usually put a lot of his visions in the movies.
One reason why the book and the movie are different is because in the Fifth book of Harry Potter, Harry’s best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger become prefects, meaning they are able to give detention or get people in trouble from their group. This is never mentioned in the movie, which I think is really sad because this detail brought a lot of fun to the book.
Another reason why the book and movie are different is that in the book, Sirius, Harry’s godfather, gives him a dagger that can unlock any door. Harry uses this when sneaking in to the headmaster’s office. In the movie, this does not happen. Instead of using a dagger to unlock the headmaster’s office, he uses the spell: Alohomora, a spell to unlock things.
Based on my experiences with Harry Potter movies, I know that some are exactly the same as the book, and I thought the fifth one would be. After watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I was able to pinpoint the differences and some similarities between the book and the movie.
I think two good stories to compare are Becoming Naomi Leon and Bud Not Buddy because they have two similar characters. One reason I chose these books is because both main characters are trying to find something that is very important to them, like family. In Bud Not Buddy Bud is trying to find Herman E. Calloway, who he thinks is his family, and in Becoming Naomi Leon Naomi is trying to find her dad, which is also her family. I can relate to working hard to find something and spending all of your energy on that because I am working hard to find courage lately. I am trying to find the courage to stand up to people when they are bothering me.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason that these two characters are similar is because they are both brave. For example, Bud is brave because he jumped out a window when he got locked in a shed. Naomi is brave because she stood up in court and said everything her mom did to her. I can’t imagine that someone said to a judge everything their mom did because your mom is someone you would want with you, and usually its the mom standing up to the kid. These two characters bravery impresses me because I remember once when I had to catch this huge water bug that freaked me out so much.
My final reason that I think these two characters are a good comparison is because both overcome one of their actions. Like Bud finally started to cry from all the years he said that his eyes do not cry anymore. Naomi started talking when she was a mute person. So they both overcame a challenge. Something I am working on overcoming is standing up to people when I have things to tell them that is very hard for me.
Glad you are working on communicating to people when you have things to tell them. I know this is hard for you but will get easier with practice. Just try be telling how you feel when that person does whatever it is that he/she is doing.

But what is different, in Harry Potter, their magic they use wands, but in Once Upon a Time, they use spells and no wands. Another way that Once Upon a Time and Harry Potter are similar is the evil or bad guys in both, use dark magic and dark arts. But Once Upon a Time and Harry Potter are different because Once Upon a Time is based on fairy tales, and real life but Harry Potter is mostly based on wizards. My last example on how they are similar is they both have a savior, something that happened to a main character in the past that makes them special. For example, Emma in Once Upon a Time was sent through a magic portal by her mother so she was safe from a curse which changed her life. Harry Potter's mother sacrificed her life to save Harry, so they both had mothers who loved them so much that they made great sacrifices to protect them. My last reason why Harry Potter and Once Upon a Time are different, is because there are three different worlds in Once Upon a Time: the human world, Storybrook, and the fairy tales. Harry Potter has two different worlds: the muggle world and the wizard world. This shows that Harry Potter and Once Upon a Time are similar and different in many ways.

ReplyDeleteI recently read the “Divergent Trilogy” and the “ Hunger Games Trilogy”. They were a lot alike but still very different at the same time. A lot of people think Divergent is a total ripoff of The Hunger Games, but that in my opinion isn’t true. The reason people think this is that “ The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” are both dystopian novels. But a lot of novels are dystopian and the aren’t known as Hunger Games wannabes.
I think one reason the two books are similar is because both main characters are female. I think most fantasy novels these days, such as the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books, have male “hero’s,” so this similarity is one of the several things that “Divergent” and “The Hunger Games” have in common.
Another reason they are alike is both Tris and Katniss, the main characters, make a lot of sacrifices in the series. Katniss volunteers herself to compete in the hunger games instead of her sister. In “Allegiant,” Tris volunteers herself to try and get the simulation serum instead of her brother Caleb.
These reasons show “Divergent” and The Hunger Games” are similar, but they are also different in a lot of ways too.
In both “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” people are split into groups. In “Divergent” people have a choice of faction they want to be in. In The Hunger Games people are born into a district and they can’t change no matter what they want.
Another reason I think “Divergent” and “The Hunger Games” are different is Tris and Katniss have different personalities. Katniss is much more forgiving than Tris. Katniss felt bad about killing a guy who tried to stick arrows up her nose. But Tris told a guy who tried to murder her that if he ever touched her she would kill him.

ReplyDeleteOne reason they are similar is they are both cartooz that are funny and they both have enemies in it that hates them Another reason is that the characters have the same actions like in teen titans go they sometimes joke around and pull jokes on each other and sponge bob squarepants does the same. One reason there different is in sponge bob squarepants they live under water just trying to have fun and in teen titans go there super heros trying to protect the city from bad guys. Another reason there diferent is in sponge bob there sea creatures under water and teen titans there humans.
I have read recently "To Be a King" in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series and I have watched Star Wars IV "A New Hope". They are similar and different in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe difference is that Star Wars takes place in a galaxy far, far away and Guardians of Ga'Hoole takes place on earth.
What's similar is that they're both fantasies because in "A New Hope" they can travel at the speed of light and we can't do that. In the Guardians of Ga'Hoole some of the birds in the book can do magic, and so far there has been has been no sign of magic.
In both series there is a war a going on: in G of G it is the Guardians vs. Lord Arrin. In Star Wars it is the Rebels vs. the evil Galactic Empire. In both it is good vs. evil. Both have big main character heroes. In Star Wars, it is Luke Skywalker. In G of G it is Hoole.
A difference is that in G of G there are no humans, only birds and animals. In Star Wars there are droids, humans, ugly weird creatures, and other alien people.
One last difference is in Star Wars there is huge major technology. In the G of G there is no technology.
This proves that there are many similarities and differences between Guardians of Ga'Hoole and Star Wars.
