I think what motivated early explorers to explore is that they wanted to trade things for business. For example Marco Polo went to China to trade things like horses for gold or silk for iron. I also think this because Christopher Columbus wanted to go to Asia to trade and to do business but he ended up in America, and became one of the best explorers ever.
ReplyDeleteMarco Polo was the first person (KNOWN) to travel the whole entire Silk Road. Christopher Columbus may have been attacked by pirates on his voyage. Marco Polo was imprisoned and then let out in 1299. One question I have is that if Marco Polo had children who then became explorers? Another question I have is if Christopher Columbus is a bad person? My final question is if vikings explored a lot of the world; then did they get credit?
I think what might have motivated the early explorers was that there might have been gold and other valuable things in other lands and people (early explorers) wanted to find the quickest rout to that place so that and other valuable things with them. I already know that early explorers had to be early and that they either had a purpose for exploring or just love the sea and want to figure out more about the world.people can get back and fourth quickely bringing gold and other valuable things with them. I already know that early explorers usually had a purpose for exploring or just loved the sea and wanted to find out more about the world. I want to know why explorers had help finding new places, sometimes more than 100 people, but just that explorer gets credit for their findings.
ReplyDeleteI think the thing that motivated explores to find new lands was so they can have new places to explore. I think that is because maybe that explorer explored all of the lands already and needs to find new places to explore, or maybe he just wants to see if he can do it or he wants to have fun! All I know about christophar chollombus is he used to kidnap people like chiefs.
ReplyDeleteGreat job superella!!!:):):)
DeleteI think what motivated them to explore was because at the the time they must've thought what land was out there to explore. Maybe they got motivated by early early early discoverers.Or maybe they didn't like were they lived. I know already that Ferdinand Magellan of portugal sailed around the world and when he came to the pacific ocean he named it Pacific Ocean because when he was there it was peaceful so he named it pacific because pacific means peacful in portigize. I also on Ferdinand's boat they ran out of food so they had to eat mice and saw dust. I also knew that Marco Polo whent exploring when he was 17 from Venice,Italy and sailed to the middle east and overland he travled to the silk road in china. Then he, his uncle and father became the first known europeans to travel to the end of the silk road. My questions are why did Ferdinand didn't get that famous? For example not a lot of people know him. Also why did Marco Polo go so young.? Back then exploring was really dangerous because there still was a lot of pieces of the wild.

DeleteEarly explorers were motivated to do something no one else had done. Early explorers search for something and explorers go everywhere especially inside mountains. I think explorers are the greatest people on earth and should be some of the people who are in lands to search so many things and they can also learn about that. I also want to know about it too because I think years later explorers would be the greatest known people in the history.
ReplyDeletetoday i learned about Marco polo. some people did not get the book they wanted. but i got the book i wanted. i was learning about Marco polo. i have learn that he lived in Europe Venice. he was born in the late 1200s. when he was young he went to china and spent 18 years there. can you belive that. he achieved lots of achievements. he was an advanded explorer. he even wote books. hes the best explorer.
ReplyDeleteMARCO POLO!!! Me two girl i agree with you!!!:):):)
DeleteI think what motivated early explorers to travel was to earn riches. A lot of explorers just went on their journey to find gold. If you found a land with a lot of gold, you probably would get to keep some of the gold you found. I have learned a bit about De Soto and Columbus. When you read books about explorers, there’s so much information in 1 book that you usually don’t get the details. I want to learn more about what happened on the boat and how long it took to find what they found.
ReplyDeleteGREA job Bebe i love your
Delete"artical"!!!!:):)):)
My opinion, early explorers explore for many reasons like ,to find new objects (like vases and carvings) becoming a smart person, and to save some people's lives. They might just become famous enough to make money to take care of their kids.
ReplyDeleteThey have many reasons to search and investigate different caves and various parts of the world to become famous to live their life's , probably just for fame and money (if their greedy little pigs and want more money).
Early explorers explain many Ancient artifacts from the deep caves others even explore island and name or identity some hidden ruins . This is what I thought motivated early explorers which is fame , discovery and wealthyness .
What I think motivated early explorers is gold. For example, John Ponce DeLeon was an explorer looking to go to what is today Puerto Rico to find gold. I have a couple more facts about John Ponce DeLeon. He was born in a village called Santeruas De Compose. He lived from 1474 to 1521 and was a soldier from 1509 through 1512. He conquered Puerto Rico for the Spanish. The Spanish crew sent him to explore Puerto Rico for gold. He was the first governor of Puerto Rico. He led the first European exploration to Florida, which he named. Ponce De Leon was also a member of Christopher Columbus's crew on his 2nd voyage to the new world. He joined another explorer, Ferdinand to find the islands of Benimy. It is impressive that he went from being a soldier to an explorer to the governor of Puerto Rico and also naming a State, Florida.
ReplyDeleteOne question that I have is why did Ponce De Leon want to find the fountain of youth when he was only 47. After all, it was only a myth and he was so young he wouldn't need it anyway.
Graet job atticus!!!:):):):)
DeleteWe are learning about the early explorers.
ReplyDeleteI think things that motivated the early explorers are:
1.Money
2.Fame or pride
3.another explorer
4.Famous carvings or paintings
I do not know much about the early explorers yet, but I do know these things:
1.The Hudson river was named after a man that was named Henry Hudson .
2.Henry Hudson found the Hudson river quite by accident, he was looking for something else.
3.Marco Polo was born in Italy in the year twelve thousand.
4.Christopher Columbus was also born in Italy , two hundred years later.
I have a few questions for the early explorers:
1.Did they know about another explorer and want to be more famous, more rich, or better than them ???
2.Did they make more than one amazing and/or famous discovery ???
3.Did they all have families like children, a wife, a husband ???
4.Did they have different jobs other than being an explorer ???
5. Were any of them really poor or really rich ???
Orli you did so great it souds like a artical!!!:):):):)
DeleteSomething that could have motivated the early explorers is that they would be respected for completing something. what I know about one of the explorers is that he sailed across the Balic sea and the Meditrranean sea. Also he sold on a ship called the Hopewell. Also he met a bunch of native Americens on his trips. What I want to know is why he did this.
ReplyDeletei agree with you haven!!!:):):)
DeleteI think what motivated early explores to want to go all around the world was having role models of older explorers. Because who would inspire them to explore all over the world. I also think what motivated Early explores was getting to look at so many great and beautiful things and make the world better all around the world because why would somebody not want to explore the world. Because they didn't have the stuff we have today but they still were strong and able to do explore the world.
ReplyDeleteWow john good job!!!:):):):)
DeleteI think that Early Explorers were motivated to discover new lands because they wanted to see the world for themselves. They are curious about what is out there and what they haven’t seen. Soon the temptation to explore the lands are irresistible and the explorers venture off to another land. Some explorers never got to their desired destination, but still found marvelous things in unexpected ways. Leif Erikson heard that another explorer found another land off the coast of Greenland and wanted to see it for himself. He went out to find it, but instead he found America.
ReplyDeleteWhat I already know about Early Explorers is that Marco Polo is the first explorer known to travel the entire Silk Road. I also know that Leif Erikson was a Viking and that he created colonization in the part of Europe that we now call Greenland.
I have a few questions about Early Explorers as well:
*Did Christopher Columbus find anything else other than America?
*What was the mission of Marco Polo and Henry Hudson?
And lastly:
*Were any of the explorers that are hung in the classroom particularly rich?
you did so great that souds like a artical!!!:):):)
Deletewow it is so long that is amazing how much you know about them and your reasons for why you think they explored really gets you convinced..
DeleteI think what motivated the early explorers is:
ReplyDelete-Money or fourtune
-Fame
-Trades
-Famous stuff that they want to find
what i know about the early explorers:
Christopher Columbus only wanted to find something (like a new way to the Indies) to become famous and rich. Christopher's father was a wool weaver but Christopher didn't want to follow in his father's footsteps because he wanted to be a boat captain. Christopher went to King Henry of Portugal and asked for money to go out to sea. King Henry said no. Queen Isabella was the one that Christopher asked who said yes. He told Isabella that she had to give him fame and money when he came back. That seems a little greedy to me.
My questions are for everyone in the class AND Ms. Scarborough. My questions are 1. Why was Christopher Columbus so greedy? and 2. Didn't he seem greedy?
great job lillian i also think that the explores were very famous!!!:):):)
DeleteI think that the early explores got motivated to discover and adventure places because they thought about all the bad things that are happening in there life time and they wanted to do something about that. So the early explores read a lot of books and researched what they can do for there country or city. What I know about the, explores is that all of them achieved something or accomplished some thing. Also they helped people and there country. That is what I know about the early explores!!!!
ReplyDeletegreat job,Gigi
DeleteI think what motivated the early explorers to find new lands was because they wanted some more space to own and to live. What I know about the early explorers already was that they didn't have a lot of materials that we have today so they can explore . Also, they lived a long time ago. One question I have about the early explorers is how did other people react when they found out someone discovered a new land to live on.
ReplyDeleteWhy I think that they wanted to fined new lands because they could find new stuff there like new close new food new invention’s and more also maybe gold or diamonds and then they could trade with other people and get good stuff out of the trades. What I know about early explores are:
ReplyDelete- They all traveled by boat from country to country.
- They all tried discovering new lands .
- They were all men.
Some of the questions I have are:
- were all of them nice?
- How long did each one stay in the land that they have or did they not stay at all?
- What stuff did they all find at the land or did they not find anything at all
I agree and i like those questions i would ask that as well
DeleteThink explorers want ton find new lands and stuff is because they longed for adventure and wanted to be famous in history and meet new people and hopefully become rich! one thing i know about early explorers is that there journeys are hard and they sometimes never made it where they wanted to go or see the things they wanted to see. and also i know they also had to fight for trades and for lands and for materials like boats and such. one question i have for them is how hard was it to find these new lands. and also what is your limit time to explore like when do just have to go back?
ReplyDeleteMaybe people wants to be early explorers because they want to find new and special thing and to make people discover them and maybe to make lots of money so they could make trades to other people like native Americans
ReplyDeleteI think that explorers reasoning on why they explored is that either somebody wanted them or when they were kids they had this idea that they would discover this new world that nobody has discovered yet. I know that explorers discovered new worlds and that they were born a long time ago and died a long time ago. I also know that they didn't know where they were going when they were exploring. A question that I have for the early explorers is that I wonder if they ever new that they were going to find a new world.
ReplyDeleteI think one reason the explorers go on adventures is because they want precious stuff because they don’t have it where they live. Like Marco Polo brought back silk gold and spices. Another reason is because they are curious like curious George.
ReplyDeleteI know that Christopher Columbus died May 20th 1506 and that he was Italian. He made lots of voyages and had two children. Christopher was the son of a weaver and his first voyage was when he was still a teenager.
My questions are all about another explorer Leif Erikson, a Viking explorer. I want to know when he was born … also why he wanted to explore places. What did he explore?
What motivated the early explorers to search for lands? I think they did this to help their country. I know this because Christopher Columbus wanted to go to India to trade for spices, because spices were hard to get back then.
ReplyDeleteBut he didn't discover a faster way to India, instead he discovered a brand new continent. Columbus was sailing for Spain, and so the land he discovered was claimed by Spain.. This shows that helped Spain by giving it more land to rule and take over.
I think that explorers had to be brave, because they had a limited amount of food, and back then they thought the Earth was like a table, and so it was very scary for them when they explored.
I think what movaied early explorers to travel was that they wanted too trade for money for exmple christopher colmbus want too trade in china but he ended up finding north america. What i know about early explorers is that marco polo traveled too china for 18 years and he was born on september 12 1254.
ReplyDeleteI think the explorers would go to other places to trade valuable items, for example Marco Polo went to other places to get: fur, wool, and gold. Also, Christopher Columbus wanted to trade in Asia but he was in America. Explores would also go to other countries to get spices. Explorers also got famous exploring. I think what motivated the explorers to find new lands is to find out what was there or to find goods and valuable items. Marco Polo was imprisoned and let out on 1299. Here are some questions i have, did explores just find new land to get rewarded, were any explores bad people, “and did vikings explore a lot of this world and get credit”, this is all the questions and facts i know about early explorers.
ReplyDeleteI Rode a Rainbow Unicorn
ReplyDeleteI rode a rainbow unicorn.
We sailed across the sky.
(I'd fed him lots of Skittles,
since they always make him fly.)
We took off like a comet
on a long and graceful flight.
And everywhere the people stopped
and marveled at the sight.
His path was bright and colorful.
It sparkled, shimmered, shined,
as he arced across the heavens
shooting rainbows from behind.

I picked this poem because I love happy things and rainbows are happy to me. I also picked this poem because it is a fiction poem so its something you can imagine.
