  1. Soccer by Nikolas Fantocone 2013

    I play keeper very fine.
When the ball comes it’s all mine.
Bam!! Goes the ball off the pole.
    I just saved another goal.
Whack!! The ball has been shot.
It comes to me and I’ve caught.
You can try and try and try.
You will never get the ball by.

This poem means to me that soccer players have courage and I'm a soccer player and I play for a travel team so I think I should have courage on the field. It also means to me that you if you have enough practice you can do amazing things in soccer automatically.

  2. TV
    By:Indigo
TV is nice, but it freezes you like ice and you don't notice there is mice.
You see all the new, but some people sue, but I love TV and so do you.
Sometimes you shouldn't watch it but you do, sometimes you don't notice the things around you to.

To me I love TV and I watch it every day. Sometimes when I get home and I'm really tired, I just do my homework, get my big blanket and I watch TV. In my opinion without TV I would not be as happy as I am today, and I wouldn't have as many friends.

    King
    By: Orli Hahn- Ott
The king, with his shoulders high
The king, with his battle cry
    How should the fire roar
against the king's castle's great doors
    The fire, alive and light
    The crown, gleaming bright
    His voice echoes
    through the vast crowded halls
    His words and power
    striking back,heeding his calls
    snowflakes falling
    who is there to blame
    our king is not lame.

To me,this poem show this "King"'s personality.I feel like this shows me that he is proud, and brave, and respected, and rich.I think he is proud because of "The king, with his shoulder's high",brave "The king, and his battle cry",respected "How should the fire roar against the king's castle's great doors", rich"The fire, alive and light The crown, gleaming bright".

  5. The poem that I chose to talk about is called where the sidewalk ends by Shel Silverstein. I acctually don't really know what this means to me it just sort of means something to me. The poem goes like this " there is a place where the sidewalk ends and before the street begins, and there the grass grows soft and white, and there the sun burns crimson bright, and there the moon-bird rests from his flight to cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black and the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow we shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, and watch where the chalk white arrows go to the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, and we'll go where the chalk white arrows go, for the children, they mark, and the children, they know, the place where the sidewalk ends.

Like I said, I'm not quite positive what this means to me but it does mention a wonderful place where everything is perfect where the sidewalk supposedly ends. I guess this sort of means to me that in dreams or poems wonderful things can occur and I like that about this poem.

  6. this poem is called "MY FAMILY" i wrote in 2nd grade.

"Family,Family oh what glee there happy just like me! Theres uncles and aunts, brothers, sisters and mothers and fathers. Feel the laughter run through you ears like skipping rope in the summer."

this poem means a lot to me and when i was in second grade my teacher said "what does it mean?" and then i said "it means that your family is fun to be with and there laughter is peaceful like skipping rope in the summer." and then she understood. this poem means family can be great and peaceful,

  7. A Beautiful Day by ???

    There's not a cloud today
    Just a sky of blue
    As the sun shines bright
    It feels so new

As you walk down the street
You can see smiles from all around
    It looks like everyone
    Came to town

    To enjoy the summer's day
    And let time stand still
    For a little while
    Just until

I think this poem is about happiness and summer. Because the poem talks about how the sky is blue and the sun shines those two things are what happen in summer. It is about happiness because the poem also talks about smiles and things that make people happy like seeing people in town which makes people happy.

  8. Raisin cookies that look like chocolate cookies are the main reason I have trust issues
    By: Google User 231453985075315784

This poem means to me that people disguised as other people are why some people feel like they can’t trust anyone. You should be able to trust anyone you see. Start the rasin cookie revolution!!! ☺☺☺☺☺

  9. There's a Polar Bear
    In our Frigidaire--
He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
    And his big hairy paws
    In the buttery dish,
    He's nibbling the noodles,
    He's munching the rice,
    He's slurping the soda,
    He's licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
    If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
    To know he's in there--
    That Polary Bear
    In our Fridgitydaire.

    by Shel Silverstein

This poem means to me that if there is a bear in the fridge don't open it if you are scared of a bear roaring at you.

    Butterflies
    By: Leila Cure

    One look
    I run
    The wind blows.
    I wait.
    It follows.
    I hide.
    Butterflies float, lifeless.
    This second, this one.
    Now this one too.
The silence ends with a laugh.
    The butterflies,
    Who perched without a breath
    On red, wet wood,
    Flutter again.
It looks ant you, and says,
    “Don’t be afraid!”
    But you are not.
    You are shy.
    Now you talk,
    “Let’s be friends!”
    Only this second
    You realize things.
    You didn’t say anything and
    The butterflies in your body
    aren’t life.
The illusion of wind gets your hopes up.
    Now they die back down.
    You go back
    Into hiding
    Waiting
    For the real
    Butterflies to
    Come.

What this poem means to me is that some times you are mad, or scared, and you stop. Then you wish to be mad or scared again. You love the feeling and you don’t know why.

    Together
    By: Leila Cure.

    Lights.
    Bright, dim.
    Dark.
    Sometimes
    No light comes.
    It is dark, too,
    In the father-shaped
    Hole in the couch.
    You climb in
    You fall.
    All around you
    The sun rises,
    While it sets.
    You are in a world,
    Of secrets,
    Of lies,
    Rain,
    Confusion,
    Big words,
    Fights.
    Sometimes there is
    Sun,
    Warm hugs and
    Fluffy blankets.
    Jokes and
    Trees.
    Small conversations
    And
    Small talk.
    “Thank you”
    you say.
    He doesn’t answer.
    Maybe he didn’t
    Hear you.
    Or maybe
    You didn’t say it
    Out loud
    After
    All.

What this poem means to me is that sometimes your family and friends can be confusing and strange. Sometimes you don’t realize that they are just trying to help you.

    Destiny
    By: Leila Cure.

    You
    Are
    Stuck.
    Two paths
    One road.
    One leads to success,
    Big things,
    Sweet things,
    Happy things,
    But you are sad.
    One leads to failure,
    Small things,
    Bitter things,
    Sad things,
    But you are happy.
    The road leads to
    A field of flowers.
    You walk through,
    Greeting every creature,
    Big or small,
    Sweet or bitter.
    No
    Emotion.
    You scream.
    You run away,
    From the paths,
    Into a rainstorm.
    You look around.
    You stop.
    You’ve been here before.
    You are back.
    Where you
    Started.

To me, this poem means that sometimes you are stuck making a decision. You take the easy way out, and you end up where you began.

    Secrets
    By: Leila Cure.

    Wispering.
    Soft voices.
    Lies and wishes.
    Love and Hate.
    The secretive
    Responsibility.
    Once you tell,
    It isn’t a secret…
    You are the secret.

This poem means that one you tell a secret, people feed off of your secrets for entertainment. Your secrets aren’t secrets anymore.

    Two Worlds.
    By: Leila Cure.

    run.

You may seem confused about the previous poem. You are probably thinking this vey moment: “How is it a poem if it has only one word?”
    Here’s your answer:
One word can mean a lot to someone.
The poem is titled: “Two Worlds” because sometimes I get stuck between two worlds. I always try to run away from that feeling. That explains the one word: “run”

    QUILT
    Our family
    is a quilt
    of odd remnants
    patched together
    in s strange
    pattern,
    threads fraying,
    fabric wearing thin -
but made to keep its warmth
    even in bitter
    cold
    (by Janet S. Wong)

I think the poem means that family is a little deferent and each other may look deferent but we are related to each other like Quilts patterns are deferent. Also Quilts are patched up like family. When the poem said "fabric wearing thin" that means that family is not always together. Quilts keep you warm and family keeps you warm two. Patched together is like family together. That is what I thought about while reading this poem.

  12. The Dirtiest Man In The World

    ◦ Oh, I'm Dirty Dan, the world's dirtiest man,
    ◦ I never have taken a shower.
    ◦ I can't see my shirt--it's so covered with dirt,
    ◦ And my ears have enough to grow flowers.
But the water is either a little too hot,
Or else it's a little too cold.

    ◦ I'm musty and dusty and patchy and scratchy
    ◦ And mangy and covered with mold.
    ◦ But the water is always a little too hot,
    ◦ Or else it's a little too cold.
I live in a pen with five hogs and a hen
    ◦ And three squizzly lizards who creep in
    ◦ My bed, and they itch as I squirm, and I twitch
    ◦ In the cruddy old sheets that I sleep in.
In you looked down my throat with a flashlight, you'd note
    ◦ That my insides are coated with rust.
    ◦ I creak when I walk and I squeak when I talk,
    ◦ And each time I sneeze I blow dust.
The thought of a towel and soap makes me howl,
    ◦ And when people have something to tell me
    ◦ They don't come and tell it--they stand back and yell it.
    ◦ I think they're afraid they might smell me.
The bedbugs that leap on me sing me to sleep,
    ◦ And the garbage flies buzz me awake.
    ◦ They're the best friends I've found and I fear they might drown
    ◦ So I never go too near a lake.
Each evening at nine I sit down to dine
    ◦ With the termites who live in my chair,
    ◦ And I joke with the bats and have intimate chats
    ◦ With the cooties who crawl in my hair.
I'd brighten my life if I just found a wife,
    ◦ But I fear that will never be
    ◦ Until I can find a girl, gentle and kind,
    ◦ With a beautiful face and a sensitive mind,
    ◦ Who sparkles and twinkles and glistens and shines--
    ◦ And who's almost as dirty as me.

-Shel Silverstein

I love this poem because it makes me laugh and smile. I read this poem for the first time when I was 5. I immediately fell in love with it. I love the way Shel Silverstein managed to capture imaginary and reality in the same poem. You can really imagine what Dan looks like.

Spaghetti, spaghetti, all over the place,
Up to my elbows--up to my face,
Over the carpet and under the chairs,
Into the hammock and wound round the stairs,
Filling the bathtub and covering the desk,
Making the sofa a mad mushy mess.
The party is ruined, I'm terribly worried,
The guests have all left (unless they're all buried).
I told them, "Bring presents." I said, "Throw confettii."
    I guess they heard wrong
    'Cause they all threw spaghetti!

This poem is “Spaghetti" by Shel Silverstein. The poem made me think about if this happened to me. My parents would freak out. My dad makes one box of spaghetti, but to fill this whole house there would be maybe 30,000 pounds of spaghetti! The joke of this story is the man asked his friends to throw confetti but they heard and threw spaghetti. I have not read many poems so far, but this one is the best I’ve read.

  15. A famous poem I know about is Phenomenal Woman By Maya Angelou. This poem is famous because it talks about how a woman doesn't need to be perfect to live in life and to get attention. I think this story means that a woman does not have to be perfect to succeed in life so she can walk into anywhere looking the way she does. Also the way she moves, walks, and smiles makes her a phenomenal woman!!!

  16. My great grandma, sweet as can be.
She is as beautiful as a Blue and green painting.
With bright filling eyes she lights the way, she is watching over us like an angel in heaven.
She is the soul of my body everyday and night.
Thoughtful as anyone could be, brown eyes as the feather of a sparrow.
You are as graceful as the flowing sea.
You are always pure in heart to me.
Thank you for looking after me all these times Grandma Misao.

The poem that I chose is The Homework Machine by Shel Silverstein. The Homework Machine, oh the homework machine most perfect contraption thats every been seen. Just put in your homework then drop in a dime, snap on the switch and in ten seconds' time your homework comes out, quick and clean as can be. Here it is- 'nine plus four?' and the answer is 'three'. Three? Oh me... I guess its not as perfect as I thought it would be. The meaning of this poem to me is that I don't always want to do my homework so I can relate and I would like a 'homework machine'.

  18. In the Dragon of Grindly Grun, by Shel Silverstein, the main message in the story is about how we make big mistakes in our lives, and then regret them. I know this because in the first stanza, the dragon talks about how tough and hot and cruel he is to knights. Then in the second stanza, he talks about meeting a pretty girl, and cooks her by breathing on her, and he doesn’t mean to cook her so much. He thinks about her later, and maybe he could have loved her, if he hadn’t breathed on her. In the third stanza, he says he is sorry about the girl and is sad that he has cooked her too much. Maybe he tried to love her, but accidentally breathed fire on her, and now she’s not even good for a meal for him and he regrets spoiling her. This shows that you sometimes regret what you did in the past.

  19. My poem is "April" by me.

    In hot stifling weather
    or freezing days
    the flowers bloom and
    they make us play.

If it's cold or hot the flowers still bloom, and the color makes things cheerful after winter. It also means because it's not too hot or too cold, these are my best days.

  20. Happy birthday by: Shel Silverstein

    So what if nobody came?
I’ll have all the ice cream and tea,
    And I’ll laugh with myself,
    And I’ll dance with myself,
And I’ll sing “Happy Birthday to me!”

This poem means to me that you should never give up or be sad because you are you and you should never ever fell down because you will always have you. And if nobody shows up at your party that means that they are missing out of a lot of fun and they are mean.
