This folk tale reminds me of when I finished my homework and started to snack. I didn't finish some things. Then when I finished I noticed my stomach started to hurt. I couldn't eat anything else.
ReplyDeleteThe author is trying to teach that it is bad to waste things. This reminds me when I have food I have to finish my dinner because some people don't have food like I do and I have to be thankful.
ReplyDeletethis folk tale is about to waste things up and bring things up and always try to bring gifts for your friends and be thankfull what you get
ReplyDeleteI think the author is trying to teach me to never be greedy or wasteful because in the folktale, the people are wasteful and greedy and they were warned but at another party, they were still doing the same thing. I think the folktale reminds me not to take advantage of things in my life. For example the people in the folktale took advantage of the sky's gift. If you want something in life, you have to work for it.
ReplyDeleteI think the message in this nigerian folktail,Why is the sky far away? Is that if you be greedy and wast a gift you need to serive things won't be as good as you need them to.One example of why I think that is the message is because in the text it said that ''They took their food for granted, and they became wastful.they cut far more skythen they needed and threw what they didn't use onto the garbage heap. the sky became angry because of the waste and the people ingratitude for his gift. One day,the sky grew very dark. the people were frightened. Another example is in the text it said the first time the sky gave a warning about being greedy and wastful the people stoped for a while then started again '' people of the earth you are wastful and greedy. I warned you. I will no longer give you food. You will have to work for it. The sky sailed up high above the earth, far out of the reach of the tallest person. Ever since then,no one has been able to reach up and grab a peice of it,and the people must work hard on farms and factories for there food. this folktale remindes me of not to be greedy because the things you get people work hard to make. For example if my mom made me food and it took along time to make and all I did was take onen spoon and throw the rest away that would be wastful and greedy.
ReplyDeleteI think the author is trying to tell me never to be full of greed because for example the sky had warned everyone to take what they needed because they were taking more then they needed and they listened but after that they were still greedy and taking more then they needed and was taking advantage sky and was not thanking the sky for it's gift.So you should not keep taking stuff from something.Instead you should work for it yourself.
ReplyDeleteI think the author is trying to tell me is not to be greedy and wasteful because in the folk tale all the characters had a warning but they did it again at a party. This folk tale reminds me of when I went to after school and had snack we always through it out!!
ReplyDeleteWhat the authors trying to tell me in this folk tale is to never waste food because you never know you might need it later and you won't have it. For example when they kept taking what ever they wanted from the sky and kept on wasting it and throwing it in the trash. The sky gave them a message, it turned dark and they were all frightened. The king said "Take only what you need, the sky is angry because of your greed". There was a big party and people kept taking food even though they were no longer hungry and threw most of it out. The sky turned dark and the sky boomed you will no longer get food from the sky, you will have to work if you want to eat. Don't be greedy and wasteful and be grateful for what you want. This reminds me of today at lunch we had chicken and noodles. I only ate the chicken and threw away the noodles, instead of throwing away the noodles, I should've asked if someone wanted them.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Nice one, Jayden! I really liked it and I agree with everything you said.
DeleteIf we all spoke different languages no one would now be friends or understand eachother the people your friends with now wouldn't be your friends if they have a different language. If you are a kid and you went to school and your teacher spoke a different language you wouldn't be learning you would just be sitting there because you don't understand your teacher.
ReplyDeleteI think the lesson in this folktale is to not be greedy and wasteful, but to be grateful of what you already have. This folktale reminds me of that same thing, not to be greedy and/or wasteful. For example, in the story the sky was angry when people threw out food they did not need, that could happen today but with pollution and food we throw out or just don't eat.
ReplyDeleteSam i thought the same thing that not to be greedy and not to be wasteful I loved what you wrote it was awsome!
DeleteI think the message is to not be greedy. And it reminds me to share and not take more than what I need like how people kept on taking food from the sky even though they had enough. And they wasted some of the food by throwing it out.
ReplyDeleteI think the message in this s Nigerian folktale why sky is far away is to never be greedy and be happy what get even if you don't want it you should be happy with what you have.I think this because the people didn't have work for there food they just pull down the clouds. The people should have been happy that they didn't work for.The people didn't have to throw it out they could have saved it and ate it next time. the people didn't have to be greedy they warned already and they weren't hungry they were just wasting food. This reminded me of when my friend was throwing out school lunch and she was warned she stopped for a few days but she still did the same. One day the lunch lady said to her if she did not stop the lunch lady would tell her that she would send a note home that she was trowing out food. Then one day she did get a note and her mom started giving her daughter her own lunch.
ReplyDeleteThe message of this story is don't be greedy and always be fair. In my own life i should share my food with my friends and i shouldn't take more then i need. in the story the cloud said that the people are ungrateful
ReplyDeletego Jayden i like your writing.and how you gave big words.
ReplyDeleteThe moral of the story is:don,t be greedy and wasteful
ReplyDeletebecause the people in the town kept eating the sky and wasting it but the sky warned the people ounce but not twice because the second time the sky moved away and people had to hunt for food. This reminds me of when I lied about eating my lettuce and I just thew it under the table but my sister figured out.
i think the message is to not waste food because then you may have no food left if you waste too much food or paper and other stuff for example in the story this kingdom was eating pieces of the sky then they had a feast and cuts parts of the sky into shapes and wasted the scraps. that is what i think the message is
ReplyDeleteThe sky is metaphor the author use it to tell the audience that it is not good to wasteful. The story was about a village that ate the sky. By grabbing pieces of the sky to make food. Though people of the village began to take more sky to eat then needed. Towards end of the story their was a festival. The people were dancing and celebrating Oba's the king village greatness. Then the all of sudden everybody started everyone began to get hungry. Everyone ate the sky and was full though they kept eating more sky. So the sky became angry. Then the sky began to make thunder and lightening. After the sky told the people " you must work for your food". The sky sailed high above the tallest person and now we work hard for our food.
ReplyDeleteThe message is that you should never be greedy because bad stuff can happen to you. In the tale, the sky says don't throw food on the garbage heap. The sky warned them that if they do it one more time, they can't grab any pieces of the sky. And then a big storm came because the people ignored the messengers. And then the people did it again and the sky went higher and higher so that they could not cut any more sky.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is a sign that you should never waste stuff like food and drinks.
Note from Cedric's parents: Cedric also said that some states like Arizona and Texas are in a drought and they might run out of food if they waste water.
The message is that you shouldn't be greedy because when the sky told the people that you should only take what you need from him. But then at the feast the king threw, they kept on grabbing more food from the sky and ate until they were stuffed and threw away the leftovers. Then the sky got mad and went really high up and then they had to hunt their food. This folktale tells me not to waste things.
ReplyDeleteThe lesson in this tale is don't be greedy because when humans just took whatever they wanted and they did not appreciate that they had food and they were punished by the sky. The folktale reminds me to not be greedy and appreciate what I have.
ReplyDeleteI think the message is to be grateful for what you have. I think this because the people had all the sky to eat but then they were wasting their food and throwing it away. This folktale reminds me not to be greedy. I know this because in the text it said that the people were so greedy that they kept throwing away their food, so then they had to hunt for their food. It also reminds me to appreciate what I have.
ReplyDeleteI think the message the author is trying to tell me is never be greedy. I think this because in the folktale it says, "people of the earth, the sky boomed, you are wasteful and greedy. I warned you. I will no longer give you food. You will have to work to eat."
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me in my real life never to be greedy. Because if you are for example not letting anyone else have something, you will always get in trouble no matter what.
What is the message the author is trying to teach you. I think the message is never be greedy because the sky told them stop being greedy but they didn't listen and then started to work hard. This reminds me of when my aunt used to get makeup free from a friend but she has to work for it now.
ReplyDeleteThe author is trying to teach me not to be greedy with your stuff and share your stuff with other people and don't waste food. The folktale reminds me of when I was 5 years old and my brother wouldn't share with me.
ReplyDeleteI think that the message that the author is trying to teach me in this folktale is that you should never be wasteful or greedy and never ignore somebodys warning when they're saying "stop being greedy and wasteful". This reminds me of when I was being greedy for my friend's food she gave me a piece of the oatmeal cookie but I didn't like it and I threw it away.
ReplyDeleteWhitman talks about America and he is saying it is a great country and how you can do so much opportunities. It does not matter who you are, where you come from, what religion you are from. It is just like my friends. They are different colors, different religions and from different places and they are all important in my life.
