  3. My topic is kids life.Three subtopics I will be writing about are babies, education, and daily life.A perspective I have on Iroquois is that there teachings to children are a lot like other cultures, for example, they are taught to respect their elders. I think my topic relates to life today because we are told to respect are elders and we are given attention and love from are parents. My unique perspective is that I believe every child, no matter what gender, should have rights, not be abused, be loved, should be happy, have good career ahead of them, and have a good education. Some lessons we learned from the Native Americans that influence the way we live today are that when you kill an animal, use all parts of it, and they introduced corn to the European settlers ,so we eat it today.

  4. For my Native American Feature Article I chose the topic Native American Clothing, I have more than three subtopics but my main four (4) subtopics are: How they make their clothing? What they wear in cold climates and in hot climates? What material they use? My fourth subtopic is: What Men wear, what Woman wear, and what kids wear. My angle or perspective I have for my Native American Feature Article is that I think that it's interesting and amazing that some of the clothing that Native American people wore back than, people wear now and people still wear clothes and jackets out of animal skin and animal fur. My topic Native American Clothing relates to life in New York today because they're still wearing traditional clothing, it helps them keep their traditional culture together. It relates to New York today because right now today people still wear things they wore back than. My culture is muslim. We also have traditional clothing that we wear on special holidays.

    1. When you said that because they dress like they used to, they are preserving the culture,I thought that was really nice, because who want it gone?

  5. My topic on Native Americans is mythology. Three subtopics are: The Great Turtle(earth story),The Great Spirit(how everything ON earth was made),and The Flying Head(???). I like mythology because I don't know what they believed, and I like Greek Myths,so I think Myths by Native Americans are very interesting! This relates not only to New York, but the WHOLE WORLD!!! It relates to the whole world because due to myths, people believe in things, which effects their culture. For example: God. Some people believe in him. Some people don't. This effects the holidays they celebrate and the holidays they don't celebrate. The unique perspective is traditions. The Native Americans have traditions, and I do too! A Lesson is: Believe what you want to believe, and don't let other people convince you you shouldn't

    1. I really like the lesson you put down, and I feel it kind of relates to peer pressure because in peer pressure, you are being pressured to do something by other people, and in the lesson, it says to not to let people convince not to believe in things you do, so they're kind of similar.

  6. My topic is weapons. The four subtopics that I am going to use are hunting, fishing, bow and arrows, and one more war. I am also going to talk about how they make all of the weapons that I mention. My perspecitve is a girl who lives in the city and has made a couple bows and arrows herself. My angle is going to be about how the weapons are made. My topic relates to New York in thiis way. Today we have google then they had thier hands and they did not have a piece of paper that told everyone what to do. Weapons interest me in this way because I love nature and it is cool how they live in the wild with nothing but their people and their hands to figure out how to eat, how to make food, and how to make houses and everything else.

  7. my topic is weapons and tools and i chose this topic because i am wondering what would have happened if we would have kept the native Americans weapons or tools. How would the world look like today ,maybe people would live in harmony. My three subtitle would be hunting weapons, war weapons, uses for tools and trade. My angle on my feature is cool because i think there will a lot to write about and also it interested me how the native Americans fought each other and how making a lot of stuff and barely damaged earth ,i think we should live more like them.I also think this influences New York because if the native Americans hadn't given the Dutch tools and taught them this country would be way less civilized.

  8. My topic is Native American Hairstyles. My three subtopics are girls and women's Hair, mens hair and the different hair styles today. My angle is that people still use similar hairstyles today, accept that back then they were a little more traditional .My unique perspective is that my family goes to a barber shop where me and sister ( and my dad) get our hair done and I ask for a surprise a lot and I get corn rose and they had that back then but differently and think thats were we got it from.I think a lesson we learned about hairstyles is to stay true to our cultures and don't let one persons opinion change that.(be your authentic self.)

  9. My topic is Native America Mythology . My first subtopic is Life Lessons. My second subtopic is Elements ( what is it comprised of). My last subtopic is called How have the myths change ? My perspective is about the Life Lessons taught by these myths. One example is in the myth Ground Shaker that you shouldn't keep things to yourself. Native America myths don't relate today in NYC . I do have a unique perspective regarding Native American Mythology because I take interest in all types of mythology. I have already Greek mythology. The Native Americans influenced us by teaching us to keep the environment clean and not to waste anything. Today we try to save water, part of what I learned from the Native Americans.

  10. My topic is clothes. My three topics are who makes the clothes, when do they wear certain clothes and who wears certain clothes. My perspective is that we use so many patterns and designs but we don't even know it.

Native Americans taught us how to use camouflage by using paint laves that is nowin fabrics.!

I got my love for fashion from my dad and my mixup patterns from my mom and,Africans patterns can have the same bright colors too.

The way Native Americans influenced us by using more natural colors.

  12. My Feature article topic is about Wampum. My first subtopic is how Wampum is made. My second is what it stands for. And last is who wears it. And I think the Wampum is very beautiful and interesting and special. Some native americans still make Wampum and Wampum is in museums. I am interested in Wampum because I like to make crafts. The longhouses have different levels(floors) and in apartment buildings or brownstones there are different floors too.

  13. My topic for my feature article is Iroquios hunting tools.
My reason for picking Iroquios hunting tools is because
it sounds fun to know how they hunted and what they used. my three subtopics are
    1. what weapon was used to kill what animal?
    2. how were the weapons used?
    3. how were they put together?
My perspective of my writing is os very interesting because I love weapons and the fact that they used to hunt just makes me want to pick this topic.

  14. My topic is about food. I wish the tribes would save some foods from back then (popular foods like chicken) like cornbread, cornmeal, corn on the cob, corn, corn, CORN!!! Another popular food- well, 3 popular foods- from back then were so popular that they even named the 3 foods the 3 SISTERS!!! Funny, right? Anyways, the 3 sisters were corn (again), squash (weird name), and finally, the beans (totally unexpected from me). My wonder is, why don’t they start a fire the way the Native Americans did before? I don’t like how they make fires now. It just doesn’t seem right. They used fires for cooking the meat………….oh? Sorry! Daydreaming about how good it would taste. Now, where was I? Ah, there! Plus, it starts pollution, and second, I like how they used to make fires. Fires, fires, fires. FIRES!!!!! Uh, sorry, I have to go. Jalen out……………………………..!!!!!!!

Did you know that they still make disines from the Native Americans? like skirts ( they actually wore skirts back then!) leggings (the men wore leggings!) and that's really cool! My perspective about my topic is insesting because I am wondering what the native americans wore they didn't just walk around naked! (that would be weird!)

  17. My topic is why weapons made by the Native Americans. My three subtopics is: 1. Why did they create their own weapons? 2. What type of weapons di they make? 3. Do they still use these weapons?
Native Americans created their own weapons for hunting, and for striking their enemies. They used spears to strike their enemies with. It was made out a short blade or tip made from a stone and is attached to a long wooden handle. The spears was also used as ranged weapons. Another weapon they created was Bows and Arrows. The arrow is similar to a spear that has a arrow tip but it is smaller and lighter. The bow is made from an arced piece of flexible material such as wood, bone or a horn. It has twobends attached by a tautly spun cord. The weapons were used for thousanda of years. These weapons are not used anymore. Guns are used now instead. My perspective or angle of writing is that I like writing about weapons because the Native Americans taught us how to hunt. They taught us how to survive.

  18. My topic food. The food they usually ate were corn, beans, deer, fish. It all depends on where you live. Now we have ovens and stoves, back then all they could do is use fire!!One reason why chose this topic is because I love food.Another reason why I chose this topic is because it would be so cool to find out how they ate, where they got the food from.I'm so happy food a thing.

  19. My topic is Native American clothing. My four subtopics are: what kind of materials did they use to make there clothing, how did they make it, what did men women and kids wear, what did they wear when it was hot or cold? My angle or perspective for my Native American feature article is that I thinks it's interesting because they wear a lot of amazing clothes and they even have to make it by hand! Another reason why I chose that topic is because in New York you can just by them at stores and during that time you had to make your own clothing. Also it's amazing that some clothing the Native American people wore relate to what we wear now like jackets and some shoes are still made out of animal fur and animal skin today. Native American closing relates to what we wear today because in New York some people still wear the clothes that Native American people used to wear back then. They like to use Native American clothing in fashion today.
I have a lot of clothes because I get a lot of hand-me-down clothes and I love to dress up. Sometimes I can't chose what to wear because they are all pretty and have nice designs. Back in the day they only had the clothes they really needed.
Native American Indians had a lot of respect for nature. They didn't just throw away things the way we do. They let plants and trees grow and they only killed animals if they had to. So we can learn from them to not be wasteful and be mindful of nature and animals.

  20. The topic I chose for my feature article is The Iroquois Weapons and Tools. The three subtopics I am writing about are: hunting/fishing, domestic tools, and war.

My angle in this topic is that I believe that the tools back then were cooler then the tools we have now because they were harder to make, also they were harder to use.

Nowadays in New York we still use knives, fishing nets, axes and other tools that come the Native Americans.

  21. My feature article is about foods, some foods they had back then still exist now some of them are...squash,cornbread,corn on the cob, popcorn and so many more. Also there are three main foods called the 3 sisters those three foods are corn, squash and finally beans.Corn was very traditional to the native Americans they had corn every holiday.

  22. For my topic I chose Native American food and clothing. My three subtopics are hunting and fishing, Native American food and modern food, and traditional clothing.
My opinion is the Iroquois liked to eat balanced meals and respected nature. The Iroquois cooked a dish called succotash. Corn squash and beans are the three ingredients in succotash. These ingredients are called the three sisters. Corn on the cob, one of the three sisters, is one of my favorite dishes. You can also find the three sisters in a Thanksgiving meal.

Iroquois clothing used all natural resources including plant fibers and animal hides. Their moccasins were made from soft leather and their neck coverings from wool, materials not too different from what we wear today.

Native Americans lived in harmony with nature, they never killed anything they could not use. They didn’t hunt for sport only for survival. This respect for nature still influences us today. At this time we are trying to help our environment or we ultimately won’t have any food to live on.

  23. My topic is weapons/hunting tools. So far, my subtopics are the bow, spear, and I forgot the name of the other one. I think what is interesting about the topic of weapons is what weapons they used to hunt what animals. For example, they used a bow and arrow on the black bear because they got a long range advantage and it would be impossible to run up to a bear with a spear and tackle it. It is safer to use long range weapons.

The way native americans lived is very different than New York today. The native americans had to hunt to get their food. My family buys our food at the grocery store or at the farmers market.

One lesson we could learn from the native americans is that we should take more care of our environment like they did. They took care of their environment because they didn't want all the animals to get sick and die because they needed the animals for food. We could learn from them because even though we don't hunt animals the same way we could still get sick if we don't take care of the world.

  24. My topic is Long Houses and my 3 sub topics are: How long is a long house? How did they make a long house village? How did they store the things they needed in a long house? My angle is I would like to see how a long house village is built. I know I would not want to live in a long house because it does not have the things that we have in our houses now like electricity, running water and controlled heat.
