Each chapter is a rule and one of the rules wear no dancing unless I'm alone or its pitch black and almost at the end she broke that rule and danced in front of everyone even jason and she told the truth to everyone and the rules are about the chapter
The rule I chose is "Pantless brothers are not my problem." I think it means it's not Catherine's job to watch David because she is always telling Mom to. So I think the metaphor is: If something is a hard job the same person should not do it over and over.
The rule that I chose was... Some people think they know who you are when really don't. Catherine didn't really know who Jason was, she thought she did but really she didn't. Whenever she went somewhere with Jason everyone would always stare at them. In the book it says, "I hear footsteps behind me two women with dogs passed by me and Jason and gave Jason a soft pity eye look." At the end of the book Catherine said that she was going to ask Jason what words he wanted to use that he didn't have on one of his cards in his communication book. Also she danced with him at the community center and then she really knew who he really was, a sweet kid one that could have fun even if he has a disability. The authors message for this rule is you shouldn't judge a person by how they look or by what other people think about them but you should actually get to know them. Catherine thought Jason couldn't have fun just because he had a disability but at the end she knew that he could have fun because he was dancing, (swaying their arms side to side) and smiling. She knew that he could have fun even if he has a disability.
The first rule is : A real conversion take two people. The author message is in the gym Catherine and Jason was having a conversion then kristi came with Ryan then catherine introduced Jason then kristi was shy to say hi to Jason and kristi feel bad because he is in wheelchair and he has disability then Kristi was mean to catherine a saying you need to tell me the truth first to last.
One of Catherine's rules are Sometimes people think they know who are when they really don't.This rule matched the chapter because in it Catherine had just come back from Jason's party and arguing with her Mom. David was in the back of the car with them, and Mom and Catherine thought he couldn't hear them. But he did hear them, and he understood. "I'm sorry frog" is what he said. THis shows that they really didn't know him, because they thought he didn't hear or care, but he did hear, and he did care.
One of Catherines rules in "rules" is sometimes people don't answer you because they don't hear you , other because they don't want to hear you.I think this is a metaphor for David saying that people don't want David to talk because there not exepting David. Also Catherine want's David to know that because he will freak out if people don't answer him.
I chose the rule some people think they know who you are when really, don't. Jason's speech theripist thinks that Jason is showing his true feeling her when really he's not. If you noticed his feelings towards Catherine, it's very different .The ST doesn't actually know who Jason was because she looked at him and saw a disabled person that couldn't be fixed. Also, he didn't be himself is because of ST's actions. Jason's sensitive heart can't take it when someone tries to make him someone he's not.
one of catherines rules are not every thing worth keeping has to be useful.
METAPHOR: Just because Jason has a disability doesn't mean he can't feel or do the same things that"REGULAR" people do or feel you just do it a different way!!!
EVIDENCE 1: he was dancing at the community center just like all the other boys and girls he just does it differently!
EVIDENCE TWO: Jason played the guitar and the piano better then I do! and he's "not normal"
One of Catherine's Rules is Not everything worth keeping has to be useful. What this metaphor means is when Catherine was getting Jason's guitar for him,he couldn't use his hands but that didnt mean he couldn't listen to the strumming of the guitar because he has claw hands,Jason can't use it. So this means not everything is what it seems.
I agree with you Farrah because Jason can't really use his hands that much and when he taps his cards, he doesn't use he's palm he uses his finger tips.
Solving one problem can create another. One of the messages in this chapter is just because you have disablity doesn't mean you shouldn't accept a person who thy really are.My first piece of evidence is Catherine isn't making him the person who he truly is.Also Catherine thought "ooo am I going to hurt him, this shows that she's embarassed of Jason.
the rule I picked is some people think they know who you are, when really they don't. I think the Author's message is don't judge a book by its cover. My evidence is when Kristi told catherine about the dance at the community center she said catherine can come with Jason. But catherine didn't want to go with Jason because he has a disability and catherine didn't really care about Jason getting embarrassed she didn't want to get embarrassed because she was with someone who had a disability. Thats not a good reason for catherine not wanting to go with Jason because he just wanted to listen to music.
I agree with you and I also chose the same rule as you too. I agree with you because Catherine wasn't paying attention to Jason but to his disability. But at the end when they were dancing in the community center she was only paying attention to him and only him, what i mean by that is she was paying attention to his personality not his disability. And she wasn't embarressed to dance with him. That's when she relized who Jason actually was. You should not judge a book it's cover.
I like the rule one problem can create another. It means that Cathrine is always putting down rules to not be embarrassed but for the first time she Could not just make a rule and everything would be okay.I know that because in the text it said"there is no rule for this". And my other evidence is that Cathrine was so frustrated when Jason was mad at her and said " This is a problem no rule can solve".
The rule I picked was "Sometimes people think they know who you are when they really don't."The authors message in this chapter is mom doesn't get that Catherine has been dealing with David for a very long time.My reason is mom said "let David use the rules to talk ," at the beginning of the book.Later on in the book, mom said"stop babying him,let him use his own words."But David kept on using the rule.
My rule is sometimes people think they know you are when they really don't because when Kristi told Catherine she should ask Jason to the dance, Catherine didn't tell her that Jason is in a wheelchair.
The rule I chose is: if you need to pick one chose carefully. I think the author's message is if you need to pick one friend or thing chose carefully because when Catherine wanted to be Kristi and Jason's friend but she had to pick over Jason and Kristi but she had to chose carefully when she picks and she chose Jason.
The rule that I chose is:" Pantless brothers are not my problem". When Catherine was going to Jason's birthday party, she asked her mom to watch David and gave David rules so she wouldn't be embarrassed. But at the party Catherine's mom was talking to Ms. Morehouse and David started to eat the cake with his hands, lick frosting off of his hands, and opening cupboard doors looking for more cake.
I think Catherine should have fun at Jason's party and shouldn't have to look out for David. <3
My rule is “sometimes people think they know who you are when they really don’t.”I think that it means sometimes people think they know things about you when they really don’t.my evidence is when Kristi thought that Jason was regular kid.Another time,Jason’s speech woman thought Jason had hearing problems, when he didn’t.
My rule is: Open closet doors carefully. Sometimes things fall out. In this chapter Jason wanted Catherine to push him in the clinic parking lot. But Catherine was scared she would hurt him or push him too hard. Catherine could see people starring at them because of Jason's wheelchair. But neither Catherine or Jason let that get in the way. And I have a message: Just because you have a disability doesn't mean that you can't have fun! Because Jason had a AWESOME time and Jason is in a wheelchair! Anyone can have a great time!
My rule is: Late does not mean not coming Catherine and her brother David were waiting at their house for their father to come home. Catherine kept saying to her brother late does not mean not coming. When Catherine was going to the dance with Jason. She was waiting on him at the dance. She knew he was coming because she and Jason were good friends. She kept telling herself that Late does not mean not coming.
My rule is late doesn't mean not coming. When Catherine went to the dance, she invited Jason to come. She started to think that Jason wasn't coming because she got Jason mad.Sooner or later he came!!Jason knew they are good friends.

ReplyDeletei agree with because in the end of the story Catherine care David take his pants

ReplyDeleteAlso Jason had fun when catherine pushed him around the parking lot. That was before Catherine exepted him.
