The first pattern I see in the book Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis is the people who adopt him are mean to him. I know this because in the story it said Bud was whipped in the first foster house, and the second foster house and in the third foster house they didn’t whip him but they put him in the shed. Also the people who adopt him also adopted someone else and he died because of the hornets.
ReplyDeleteOne of my big ideas in the book Bud,not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis is Bud has a very big imagination.My first piece of evidence is he thought the fish heads on the cabin door were monsters.My second piece of evidence is he thought the hornets nest in the cabin was a vampire bat.This evidence shows that Bud thinks some things are real but they're imaginary.

Bud imagination is big but is also going wild because of all of the things thats Todd said, like the vampire bats, the puddle of blood on the floor, the last kid they locked up in the shed has gone missing, and the kid they took out of the shed the next morning... They were blown up like a balloon!
DeleteI also agree with you Gideon and I would like to add on. Bud is also imagination because in the text it says ''that hurt Amoses, but I'll get my revenge.'' This shows that Bud is imagination.
DeleteMy theory is the Amoses have been locking up kids before Bud. I know this because Todd said that the last kid who came in the shed had a bad time. This shows that a kid has already been there. Also, when Todd said all of those bad things about the shed, his mother didn't say "stop lying", she said "your going to ware yourself out.

DeleteMy big idea from the book Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis is that Bud is a risk-taker. I know this because Bud was locked in a shead and he broke the window and jumped out of the window and wasn't afraid if the Amoeses cought him. I also know this because he walked up to the Amoeses porch and said, "I will get my revenge on you" and he was saying that he remembered where Mr.Amoes put his large shot-gun. Lastly Bud was making up lies and he didn't really care if he got cought.

I agree with you Nasma. I also think that Bud is brave because, just like you said when he broke the window he didn't really care if he got caught by the Amoses.

DeleteMy big idea on Bud not Buddy is that Todd made Bud hit the hornet nest. My evidence to support that theory is that Todd was trying to trick Bud that there were vampire bats in the shed so he that we would hit the hornet nest and get stung. My second piece of evidence is that the door opened and his rake jerked and hit the hornet nest so he got stung I think that was Todd who opened the door and jerked Bud's rake so that he hit the nest and got stung by hornets. That was my theory and evidence for Bud not Buddy.

DeleteI think one of the authors messages is that even though Bud is a really sweet kid he also has a dark side which sort of means that everyone has a bad side some have more some have less.My evidence is bud wants to get back at the Amos people .My second piece of evidence is that wouldn't leave without get revenge by. maybe killing one of the Amos folks I know that because said"I don't know how hard i would have to pull the trigger on that double barrel shotgun"
ReplyDeleteMy theory is Bud is an imaginative boy. I know this because Bud said at the end of chapter 4 "that hurt Amoses but I'll get my revenge". Also he thought 3 fish heads were monsters. After he thought the pad lock was open and changed at it like a football player. Lastly he got a jack knife out of his pocket and cut open a hornet nest that he thought was a vampire bat. This shows that Bud is an imaganitive boy.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Bud got mistreated at the Amoses. My first piece of evidence to support that is when Todd Amos faked an asthma attack and blamed it on Bud. Another piece of evidence to support the statement is when Bud got locked in a shed, which happened to be his bedroom, with hornets nests and dead fish. I don't think that that is where a 10-year-old boy should be living.

DeleteMy big idea is that Bud is going to run away. I know this because he busted the hornets hive and if they found out, they would whip him for it. In order to get to the supplies they would have to get through the hornets. Bud took his suitcase and didn’t go to slept with it, which gave me the idea that he was going to run away.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I know that he is going to do some thing, like make Todd wet the bed because Todd got him in trouble and bullied him. Also, Bud said that he was going to get revenge on the Amos’s.
A character trait that Bud has is being brave. I know this because he stood up for himself. He started a fight with Todd, and Todd is 2 years older than him. Also Bud was brave when he hit what he thought was a vampire bat, that was actually a nest of hornets. This is why I think that Bud is a brave kid.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that the Amoses only care about getting payed not the kid. I know this because in the text it says that they put 3 kids in a shed incluoding Bud. Also, Mrs. Amos said " the only reason I do this is because they pay me" this shows that the Amoses only care about getting payed

My #2 evidence is when he didn't cry anymore when he left the home he was being brave to stay calm.My #3 evidence is that he was brave to jump out the window and hit the wasps of.thank you for reading my theory and evidence. :):):):):)
ReplyDeleteA character trait for Todd is he is a liar. I know this because he told his mom that Bud MENT to slap him. (But Bud accidentally slapped him) And Todd kept saying,"Don't forget about the vampires and roaches and bugs waiting to bite you."Also Todd lied about his asthma starting. This shows that Todd is a liar!
ReplyDeleteI think that Bud is gonna shot the amos because he could of died in that shed and that took his suitcase. And Ms. amos only believes Toddy. When toddy was messing with bud Bud got in trouble Toddy lied. They only care about getting payed. In the text 3kids was also Bud
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Bud is going to run away with the shotgun that he saw in the kitchen. I know this because in the text it says ''that hurt Amoses but I'll get my revenge''. Also in the text it said that Bud found a shotgun laying in the kitchen. So after he got out of the shed he saw the shotgun still laying in the kitchen. This shows that Bud might run away with the shotgun so the Amoses don't find him and do whatever to him.
ReplyDeleteMy theory in Bud not Buddy is that Bud's mom committed suicide. My evidence is that when Bud's mom died there wasn't a noise so if Bud's mom did get murdered she probably would have screamed or something but instead there wasn't a slight noise when she died. Bud's mom was having a very hard time in life after the divorce and whenever she got those flyers she got all shaky and depressed.

I know this because in the text it says when he was in the shed, he put his fist through the teeth of a fish head because it was the only way to get out and get away from the bugs that were stinging him. Even the head had sharp teeth and was hurting him. I also know this because Bud was trying to help his friend who worried about going to a foster home with three girls and then he confess that he is with a 12 year-old who beats him up all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy big idea is that Bud is going to run away and may meet up with Jerry or Bugs. I know Bud is going to run away because he has been mistreated by Todd and the foster parents were misinformed by Todd about what is going on. Then the foster parents locked Bud in the shed with a hornet’s net. Bud got bitten when he attacked the hornets, and he escaped through the small window. I figure that Bud is going to meet up with Bugs or Jerry because right before Buds escaped from the hornets, Bugs and Jerry were introduced to the story.
ReplyDeleteMy Big Idea in Bud Not Buddy is that Bud is strong physically and mentally. I know this because in the text it said that Bud got stung by a hornet's nest and it didn't hurt that long. I also know this because he made a book in his mind about how to lie to adults. Another piece of evidence is when he smacked Todd in the face, he smacked him so hard it made a loud sound and left a mark on his face.
ReplyDeleteOne theme in "Bud not Buddy", by Christopher Paul Curtis, Bud believes that the man in the flyer is his father. He does'nt want anything to happen to it. It is his only connection he has with his Dad. He keeps it safe tucked away in his suitcase. " I did what i do every single night before I go to bed, I check to make sure everything was there", this is referring to his suitcse. In the text , it also says that, "It was like something was telling me that their was a message for me on this flyer...". Bud is always looking at the flyer and wants to keep it safe inside his suitcase. Maybe one day he will find his father.
