What have you learned so far in fourth grade?

What have you learned so far in fourth grade? Think about what you have learned academically (subjects in school) socially (how you interact with others in a beloved community) and in other areas of your life. Do you have any special talents you have grown in this year?

Explain what you have learned in detail, giving specific examples and why it is important to you.

  1. So far in fourth grade I have learned ;
How to do an algorithm. Before I was in 4th grade I only did place value charts and I didn’t know what algorithms were.Algorithims are important because if you have big numbers in your equation that you need to solve it takes less time to solve the problem. I’ve also learned my multiplication tables. Multiplication tables are important to know so you don’t need to count on your fingers. In writing I learned how to use, voice, story, opinion and facts when I write feature articles. It is important to know these things because it expands your writing so you can better express yourself. In reading I’ve learned to stop and think about what I’m reading. This is important because you can understand the book better and be able to explain it to someone else.
I interact with others in my beloved community by being helpful and a friend to others.
My special talent that I’Ve grown into this year is becoming more independent with my studying. I am balancing my school work and my after school activities well.

  2. So far in fourth grade I have learned to be a math student who takes time to understand things. Like learning cross multiplication and new division facts. I've also learned to be a writer who pays close attention to what I'm writing, like if there is a spelling mistake, I fix it. I'm not afraid to ask for help with my spelling. I've gotten more into writing than I used to be. I've also learned to be a reader who takes time to look for details. Like when I'm reading Becoming Naomi Leon, I take time to look for evidence for my theories. My reading skills have gotten bigger and I can read really fast while also paying attention to details.

  3. I am a writer who has learned that I find interest in writing what is going on around me. I like it because I get to use my voice and describe what is going on around me in my own words. I am a reader who has learned that I find interest in reading Realistic Fiction and Fantasy. Some themes/plots in reading I find interesting are poverty, fitting in, peer pressure, and bullying. I am a Math student who has learned using an algorithm is the best way to solve most things and that you should always check your work in any type of math problem. At first I rushed through my work without checking, but when I saw I got it wrong I realized I should have slowed down and checked my work using the opposite operation.

I have learned a Beloved community respects each other and includes other people in their group. They also help each other and helping people who need it. For example, if someone is short and can’t see what is going on, you give them a boost so they can see what is going on.

A few Talents I have grown in are piano, origami, and drawing figures at an angle. I have been practicing them a lot! I like Piano because I like Music. Music sounds good and comforts me. I like doing origami because I can transform a single piece of paper into a toy or piece of art. I like drawing because it gives me the ability to see what I can make with just a simple piece of paper and a pencil.

  4. I am a math student who likes to help other people who needs help because i am not going help who is do just fine and don't need help.

One of my talents is music. I play piano and guitar i love them both because it makes me feel good about my self when it sounds good not when it sounds bad because when it sounds bad it does't make me feel so good but i still love them both.

I think that in writing you have to read to write because in reading you can learn how to spell and reading can be like a model for you because if you read you will know what it looks like.

  5. I had learned place value and addition and subtraction with regrouping in math. I hadn't learned anything academically. Even though I was in Ms. Susan's office, we all have our own culture. I make comics and I am a cartographer when i grew up and had grown up this year.

  6. What I learn so far is to challenge myself in reading because when you challenge yourself you Get to read higher levels and you grow more in reading. In math I grew because this year I'm learning all these different strategies that I can use.In writing you have to read to write because
when read different genres you write different genres.

  7. In writing I have learned about story, voice, opinion, and facts. In 3rd grade we didn’t learn about the 4 parts of a feature artical.

In reading I have learned about symbols. In 3rd grade we only did theories with evidence and now I learned about symbols that show character motivation, and emotion.

In math I’ve learned about cross multiplication, and I understand everything a lot better. For example we learned about cross multiplication today, and I understand more about what things are and more of what they can do.

In the classroom I’ve helped more often, like I do more jobs help people when they need help.

I think a special talent that I have grown into is speaking up more. I’ve reported a lot of bad things that go on.

  8. What I have learned in school

In math i've learned not too rush through the problem and stay patient. For example breaking down the problem.

In reading i've learned too look back in the book and pull out big pieces of evidence too support my theory,or what ever it is where I need evidence.

In writing i've learned what story, voice, opinion and facts in feature articles. I've also learned too answer back too facts but not all.

In social study's I have learned many very intresting facts.

  9. I learned that our school is a beloved community and to respect our beloved school in math I learned how to use the algorithm with big numbers and how to use a place value chart with really big numbers in writing I learned how to use show don’t tell and how to use proper grammar in social study’s I learned about the native Americans and how they make there food clothes and equipment to play games we play today like tennis

  10. I have learned as a reader that it's good for me to read many different genres because if I read a lot of genres, I can write a lot of genres because I've seen the layout of that genre from reading it.
In math, I've learned how to use an algorithm.
In writing, I've learned that using description is useful.

  11. What I have learned in this grade so far is that you should always be nice and be part of the beloved community and always be respectful.

In math what I learned is perimeter and areas also algorithm witch is fun for me.I also I learned math is fun and always try it slowly and learn from your mistakes and never be hard on yourself.

What learned in writing is show and tell and that is a good strategy to do good details and now I am a good writer and I also learned that you should always write slow and don't be distracted or else your piece won't be good. Also writing is really fun when I am doing a personal narrative and reading others.Reading and writing has a good connection.

What I learned in reading is that read slow or else you won't understand and be confused also really think deep like we do in becoming naomi leon and also learned that when your finding a book and it's confusing just read the first chapter again slowly and you'll understand.

  12. What I've learned is to think about what I read after a page. Last year I read just a bunch of words and I wasn't learning much. And now I read a page and then stop to think. And I understand the book a lot more. It's a lot more fun to read too. Like when I read a page of a new book I'm starting, Bunnicula, I did not understand a thing it was. But I read it back and stopped to think and I got it completely. Apparently a family was running inside when a thunderstorm happened. I didn't know why they were running so I read back and saw that something bad happened to one of them. It really helps me understand the book.

I am gaining the skills to be helpful to other kids and a leader to other kids. Today there was a kid and he was trying to steal everyone's balls. SO everyone tried to steal his ball, but that's not what I did. I went to my friend and said Ok stop trying to take his ball, I'm am going to try to help him. I went to talk to him and I said If you take someone else's ball, they are gonna wanna take you ball and later my friend Mateo was with his friends and his friends were passing the kid's ball around everywhere and Mateo finally said pass it to me and got the ball, but then gave it to the kid. And eventually I felt like I was becoming a para for him.

  13. What I learned in fourth grade is in reading you should focus on the characters and when they with feelings and notice a lot of charter motivation and switching parts, for example when owen and noemi with feeling about meeting the father.

To be a loved community is to be,truthful, nice, loving and inclusive.

Reading and writing for me reading because I like to read different genres.

I like reading because sometimes its true stores and you can sometimes relate to the good problem in the story or bad problem in the story.

Last year I diden’t realy like writing. But this year I have learned so many writing tenqunecs for example, five w’s and learned you I am as a writer (what I like to write about). Now I love writing and bring my writers notebook to my house almost every day, even if theres no writing asighnment.

Last year I was a level r in reading. But in only these two months i’ve advanced to a w. It’s because I like reading more and I learned how to think about the book alot more.

This year in math i’ve learned cross multiplcation and adition and subtraction algorithams. But I also notice that my problem solving has inproved alot from last year.

In social studies my social studies grade has improved alot,I dont know why but that must mean i’m getting better at social studies.

  16. This year I have learned how to do cross-multiplication and lots of area and perimeter. In area and perimeter, I have learned how to find the area and perimeter by knowing the length and width. I have learned socially that we are in one beloved community. I think that it is important to have a beloved community because we do not want anyone to get bullied of their race, sex, age, or how they look. Academically, I think you should not rush to your work, or race someone else on your work so you do good.

  18. In fourth grade I have learned my Multiplication tables. In third grade I didn't know my times tables and it was hard for me to do a lot of things in math but now that I know times tables its way more easier to do math.

In reading I learned to not just read any words. When you read you have to stop when there's something BIG happening and think why a character is acting a way.

  19. What I leaned in reading is that if you read every day you can get better at it and it really can get fun to read.
I have learned that I can be a super math student if I learn and listen to the teacher. I interact people the same way how I treat the other people and treat them like your family.
My special talent that I grown this year is reading because I didn't like reading and now I started to read interesting books.I also got really good at social study by thinking that it is really fun to do.I think that reading is very important to me because if I read I can also get better at writing too.

  20. In writing I learned that I am better at writing personal narrative then fantasy because I can think of a personal narrative in like less than a day and think of a fantasy in 3 days or more. Also, I wrote a personal narrative in one day got it to editing and got to revising in days on a fantasy story. I also learned in writing that Feature Articles have voice, opinion, fact and story like in the “weird fish” it had all four of them.

In math I learned how to do cross multiplication today and I think it is hard.
I think it is hard because I can’t do 10x10 in cross multiplication.

  21. What I have learned so far in fourth grade in math I learned new ways to help me in multiplication. Last year I noticed I had trouble in math and reading but in fourth grade in my new class I been noticing that I don't have trouble in it. HECK I would even say its fun.My class's beloved community is awesome. I see people helping I see people treating people with kindness and trust ME on this in 317 I don't see anybody treating people like the last piece of popcorn in the bag.Now I think we can all say, so far I have been doing great and you learned something, that room 317 is one of the best fourth grade classes in the world. P.s. Thank you miss Scarborough so far.

    Sincerely yours,

    Valentino Maximus Fernandez

  22. So far in fourth grade I am learning how to multiple two digit numbers. In writing I am using four tools to help me become a better writer the following tool's are Stories, Opinion, Facts and voice I am hoping to become a great writer by the end of the school year.I learned to be good listener and to not interrupt or talk when the teacher is teaching. I am now doing well academically. During recess I feel happy when I play four squares with my friends. So far so good!

  23. So far in fourth grade, I've grown in many ways. Academically, I am the kind of reader who likes to read many different genres. I like to challenge myself by reading higher levels. In math, I'm the kind of math student who learned how to tell the perimeter of something by just being given the side length and width or length and area. In writing, I've learned how to use story, fact, opinion and voice nicely in my feature articles.

In our beloved community we should be nice and inclusive. I also think that we shouldn't tease people because they are different than other people. I think we should all love each other and help each other out. For instance, if someone is drawing in their notebook, you can help them out by saying nicely like stop drawing. These are things that I've learned about our community.

I love sports. These are some of my special talents. I play soccer, lacrosse and baseball. In soccer and lacrosse I play striker. In baseball, I play outfield, first base second base and of course hit. This year in 4th grade I've gotten much better in soccer and lacrosse. I also play the piano and I love music. This year, I'm playing let it be, space oddity, minuet in G and mornign has broken. A year ago, I switched from classical to Jazz and now I'm learning pop. I still play classical but not as much.

These are all of the ways that I feel like I have grown in 4th grade this year.
