I chose author message because it why book. author message is do be rude to people disabilities they can still be some one. and can be friend with people disabilities they be someone have some thing you dot have.
ReplyDeleteThe author's message in the book is to not judge people with disabilities. Evidence 1 in the book is when Catherine went to Jason's party and Jason asked if Kristi wanted to go to the dance at the clinic, but Catherine said that she's probably busy with Ryan, making Jason believe she was embarrassed about him. Second piece of evidence was when David asked Ryan for a piece of gum and Ryan kept saying no, then finally Ryan gave David a piece of gum but when David got the piece of gum it was really just the wrapper, making it a prank and making David cry, knowing David had a disability.
ReplyDeletethe authors message is that you don't need to change yourself for someone. catherine was not being herself because she wanted kristi to like her. catherine wore make up and she is not the person who wheres make up. she worried what bathing suit to where and she never cares what she wheres. then she realzed that she didn't like not being herself because kristi is not a true friend. don't change for someone cause your fine just the way you are that's the authors message.
ReplyDeleteThe authors message is that people that can't do certain things still matter. Catherine was friends with Jason, who has c.p and she made cards for him. Also Catherine pushed Jason in the parking lot to make him feel like he was running.
ReplyDeleteThe author’s message in Rules is to be yourself and not change who you are just for someone else. I know this because in the text Catherine changes for Kristi by putting on makeup and worries about her clothing. When Catherine tries to find the right clothing to wear she feels panicky. Also when Catherine is around Jason she is herself because she doesn’t worry about her clothing and she doesn’t wear makeup. I think Jason is a good friend because he likes her for who she is.
ReplyDeleteThe main problem in the story is Catherine not accepting Jason and David. Ev.1 Catherine keeps making rules for David and doesn't accept him as he is Ev.2 Catherine got worried if she had to go to the dance with Jason.
ReplyDeleteThe author’s message in rules is that Catherine Doesn’t except Jason for who he is l know this because in the text when kristi said that Jason can come to the dace Catherine said that Jason Couldn’t come to the dace also that when Jason ask Catherine if that kristi want to come to Jason party Catherine that she was Busy at the dance.
ReplyDeleteThe authors message in rules is do not be someone else BE YOU i know this because in the text Catherine was embarrassed about Jason and now she is not embarrassed about Jason
ReplyDeleteThe authors message Rules is that you don't need to change yourself for someone. I know Catherine was not being herself in the text Catherine wanted Kristi to like her Catherine wore makeup and wore a beating suit and she doesn't care about she wears. She than realized that she didn't like being her self because Kristi is not a true friend. Don't change your self stay the way you are and that was the authors message.
ReplyDeleteThe author’s message in Rules is don’t change yourself for someone else. I know this because Catherine was wanted to impress Kristy and be her friend. Also whenever Kristy’s around Catherine she doesn’t act like herself because she tries to act cool and won’t tell Kristy who she actually is – that she is friends with Jason. Don’t judge people if they have disabilities. While Catherine was walking in the park with Jason a little kid said: “What happened to him? Was he in an accident?” And Catherine told him not to say that wearing makeup and she was worrying about which clothes to wear because she
ReplyDeleteThe author's message is don't change yourself for someone else. I knew this because Catherine kept trying to impress Kristi but it never worked out. Also when Catherine and Kristi went to the pond, Kristi wore a two piece bikini making Catherine wonder if she should have worn her two piece. Also when Catherine and Kristi were making posters for the dance Kristi said that it didn't matter that Catherine couldn't come to the dance, proving she didn't care about Catherine even when Catherine tried to be like Kristi.
ReplyDeleteThe main problem in the story (rules by Cynthia lord) is Catherine has a brother who has autism and she struggles with it and telling people about Jason and David. I know this because she hasn’t told Kristi about Jason having cp or about David having autism. Also when Kristi opened Catherine’s sketch book Kristi asked who was the boy in the picture she said no one but she new it was Jason. Also when David gets wet he rips off his pants in public and in private and he opens and closes doors at other peoples houses and to not get any friendship broke up she lies.

ReplyDeleteI think the author’s message is about accepting people for who they are. You can be any ones friend even if they have a disability. Catherine is friends with Jason and he has a disability. His disability is not speaking. Catherine finds a way to communicate with him using cards. Catherine has a little brother [David] who has a disability. He’s autistic. She has rules to try to make him normal. I think this helped her understand and accept Jason.
The author’s messages in Rules are be yourself and you can be friends with anyone. I know this because in the text Catherine wasn’t being herself and that did not go well. Catherine was putting on makeup and cared more about the clothes she wore. I know Catherine is the type of person who likes what’s on the inside more than what’s on the outside. Also, I think that you can be friends with anyone. In the text Catherine was embarrassed about Jason and did not accept him. I noticed because she did not tell Ryan and Kristi that Jason is in a wheel chair. At the end she accepts him for who he is and even asks him to the dance!
ReplyDeleteThe author's message in Rules is you have to accept people for who they are on the inside not the outside. I think this is the author's message because Catherine doesn't accept Jason and David because they are differently abled. They are not like everyone else. Catherine feels embarrassed by the their differences. As Catherine spent more time with Jason she realized that he is just like any other kid. Catherine is also judged by people because her brother has autism, so she knows what is feel like to to have people judge her.
ReplyDeleteThe author's message is don't judge a book by its cover even thou Jason looks different from other kids he still acts like one. Catherine does not care about how Jason looks but she cares about how he acts. Catherine looked deeper to see if he is nice and funny.
ReplyDeleteI think the author's message is that you should not judge anyone with a disability or because of how they look. The reason why I think that is because Jason thought that Catherine was embarrassed to go to the dance with Jason. Catherine didn't want Kristi and Ryan to know about Jason because she thought that they would laugh at him because he sits in a wheelchair and has CP. Catherine was worried that they would hurt his feelings. And this is what I think about the authors message.
ReplyDeleteThe author message in rules is you don't have to chang from who you are for some own to to accept you. It is good to be your self and you can be friends with who ever you want even if they have a disability. I know this because in the text Catherine is trying to impress Kristi by wearing makeup and trying to dress like her and that's not like Catherine Also Catherine makes rules for her brother who has autism and wish he will be a normal kid one day.
ReplyDeleteThe main problem in the story is that Catherine is not accepting of people who have disabilities. I know this because she meets a boy in occupational therapy. His name is Jason and he has cerebral palsy. She likes him but is embarrassed to tell her friends about him. I also know this because Catherine gets mad with her brother David who has autism. She yells at him when he puts her toys in the fish tank. I think she should be more patient with people who have challenges.
ReplyDeleteI chose “main problem in the story” because it’s the topic that I remember most. The main problem in the story Rules is that Catherine is sad because Jason is mad at her for not including the wheelchair in the picture she drew. But Jason invited Catherine to his birthday party and when she got there Jason was mad at her. But then she solved the problem by including the wheelchair in the picture the next time made a drawing. She found out Jason was mad because he rolled away in his wheelchair after saying to her “are you embarrassed?”. He did that because she has a friend named Christie who isn’t a good friend and she doesn’t feel right kids with disabilities. When she showed it to him they were friends until something bad happened. There was another time too where Catherine cried because Jason asked her if she was embarrassed and she was still lying about the truth. She was embarrassed.
