  4. I chose Katherine Johnson as my freedom fighter mentor. I chose Katherine Johnson because she was the person who calculated the path to space. And because she is very smart and,she does not give up. Katherine Johnson’s life inspiers me to keep on trying and trying to make things better.Katherine Johnson kept on working on the path to space trying to make it better. I know that it might be very boring trying over and over. But at the end it will be worth it.

  11. I chose Malcolm x as my freedom fighter because he was introduced to racism by the age of 3 but when he got older he wanted to equality for all and justice for all so thats what he tried to do. When Malcom X was about 9 or 8 he was in his house and the KKK came and burned his house down but luckily his whole family got out safe. He inspires me because he went through a lot of stuff in his life and wanted to really change what was going on when he got older and I feel like what Malcolm X wanted to change is still around so I think that we all can change everything that he wanted to change and thats what I want to do.

  12. I choose Nelson Mandela as my freedom fighter mentor because he never gave up on his plan. His plan was to stop apartheid in South Africa. This was to stop segregation and discrimination because of your race. Nelson Mandela inspired me because he continued with his plan even though he went to jail, and he was away from his family. After Nelson Mandela came out of jail, he became the president of South Africa and still fought for equal rights.

  13. For my freedom fighter I chose Katherine Johnson. I chose Katherine Johnson because she had an interesting life and is an interesting person. For example she skipped kindergarten, first and fifth grade Also she was ready for high school at age ten! The other reason I chose Katherine Johnson is she opened the doors of NASA to everybody! She was the first African American woman to work on rocket projects. She did calculations for rocket trajectories. She wanted to be a mathematician but she thought her jobs were limited to being a nurse or a teacher. She was a teacher but she applied for a job at NASA. What she did was special because she was the first woman and African American to do that job at NASA. Katherine Johnson worked on the Mercury and Apollo missions. Her calculations saved the Apollo 13 mission! She proved that anybody can be smart and that anybody can be a genius no matter what their race or gender.

  15. I chose Barack Obama because just like Jackie Robinson Barack, known as Barry, broke a color barrier. Barack broke the presidential color barrier by becoming president. Barack allowed people of all races to be able to become a president of the United States of America. Before Obama became president there were only white presidents none were African American,Asian,Gay,Jewish,Spanish or Female! Barack inspires me to follow my dreams because he wasn’t afraid to make a change. That inspires me because some didn’t want Barack to be president and criticized him. He was committed to his dream to become president and he never gave up on his dream.

  16. I choose Nelson Mandela as my freedom fighter mentor because he help change south Africa. when he saw sighs that said 'white only' he said 'we shall protest for freedom' and his risked going to jail to fight for freedom. when he protested he went to jail for a night after leaving jail he protested again and wore disguises to not go to jail again. he traveled to a lot of places and figured out a lot of people hated him and went back to south Africa. the police found Nelson and put him in prison for twenty seven and one in a have years. after he was released from jail things changed no more signs. nelson changed south Africa and what inspired me is that he did anything to get freedom which makes me want to fight for freedom if I have to.
