at first i thought that Skyla would not take Naomi. now i think that she is going to take Naomi because she said " i will get you one way or another". another reason i know this is that Skyla said she would get the police and take her to court and the huge might say yes to Skyla since it is her kid. so this is how i know that she might take Naomi.
ReplyDeleteI agree that she's going to take Naomi. The only reason Skyla wants to take Naomi is because she wants her to babysit Saphire and they could get more "state"money for her since she's a child. Also, Skyla and Clive won't use the state money in the right way.
DeleteI agree with you Nonna because at first it did seem like that Skyla was just a nice, normal mom. Now she is acting like a maniac just to get Naomi to go to Las Vegas with her and Clive to meet Clive's daughter Sapphire.
DeleteA first I thought Gram was scared to let Naomi and Owen see Santiago because Skyla would take Santiago to court. But now, I think that Gram is not afraid of letting Naomi and Owen see Santiago. I know this because in the text Gram said "I don't care if you take me or Santiago to court." She also said "I'll go to the ends of the earth to let these kids be safe". I know that I revised my thinking because I changed my mind about Gram.
ReplyDeleteAt first i thought that naomi was going with skyla but gram defend naomi my text evidence is that after skyla slaped naomi she took owen and went to gram thats when gram said go in the shed say in until i come for you so her and fabeola and bernardo kept her away from skyla alos gram said that she will go to the other side of the world to keep naomi from you so skyla said suday noon im comeing for naomi but gram and fabeola and bernardao took baby buluga with them to mexco to oaxaca to meet santigo and to get away from skyla

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought Clive was nice because he wanted it take Owen to las vegas now i think Clive is just plain rude because he USED Naomi's soap carving to get the turkey grease off is hands I know this because in the text it says Clive's napkin was wadded up on the sink with the bird in it.

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought Naomi's mother would be good. But now I think that Skyla is forcing Naomi to come with her to Las Vegas just so she can take care of her boyfriend's daughter. I know this because in the book Skyla tries to take Naomi to Las Vegas, then Skyla gets angry, then Naomi gets sad and tells Skyla to stop and Skyla slaps Naomi in the face very hard. This is not a good mother. But instead of going to Las Vegas Graham, Fabiolo, and Bernardo have plans to take them to Mexico to be with Santiago who is Naomi's father so they can be with each other again.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that Skyla might be starting to under stand Owen and also rethink taking Naomi. I thought this because Skyla offered to take Owen to the doctors. But at the doctors she said Owen was a blem and said Owen was embarrassing. Really she was just embarrassing herself.Now I think Skyla still hates Owen and most definitely is going to take Naomi. I think this because, like I said, she called Owen a blem, she slapped Naomi and told her she would be coming with her, and Naomi and Owen had to hide in the garden shed. But I also think that Naomi is becoming a little more confident in herself. I think this because, Naomi actually stood up for herself and Owen. She did this enough that Skyla actually slapped her. This makes me think Skyla is bad tempered. She probably is bad tempered because she is drinking. This makes me feel almost sad for Skyla.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought even though Skyla did not always appreciate her kids at least she came back. But I've changed my thinking to she doesn't really like her kids because 1) she called Owen a blem and that's not nice to say 2) she slapped Naomi on her cheek, no mother really does that 3)she yelled at Naomi to speak up even though it wasn't her fault. My mom yells at me sometimes when I don't listen, but she always says "sorry" after.
ReplyDeleteIn The beginning I thought Skyla came to spend time with everyone and redeem herself from all thease years. Now I think she came to get Naomi and give her to Clive for the state money. I know this because when Clive was on the phone Skyla said "she will come with us like planned . This phone call means that they planned to make her come to Las Vegas with them from the very beginning and this is why I changed my thinking about Skyla.

ReplyDeleteSkyla said that Owen didn't look smart because one leg was shorter then the other,she said his voice sounded weird,and because the tape on his back made him look weird.Also she didn't want Owen to come to Las Vegas so Owen wouldn't embarrass her. 2nd of all Skyla is forcing Naomi to come to Las Vegas and Skyla slapped Naomi across the face, I can't believe Skyla would do this,I would not want a mom like this.

I think this because in the text it says when naomi talked back to skyla when they got back home from owens doctor appointment skyla slapped naomi on the face! and also i know this because after the slap skyla threating naomi said "you don't want anything to happen to gram on account of you old as she is" and her voice was high and shrill! and also every single time skyla threatend anyone!
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that Grams would have to let Naomi go because Skyla said that she would call the cops on her. Now I know that Gram, Fabiola, Bernardo, Lulu, Owen, and Naomi are going to Oaxaca, Mexico to get away from Skyla.

My big idea in my book was that when Naomi go's to Mexico she is going to find her dad Santiago. I am going to revise my thinking because I noticed that Santiago could of moved or go away. Naomi,gram and Owen haven't seen Santiago in 7 years so they won't know were Santiago is!

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought Naomi couldn’t stick up for herself. I was proved wrong. Before Skyla slapped Naomi, she said she wasn’t going to Las Vegas and, “You left us,” and, “No!,” etc. Naomi stuck up for herself. Now I think, if someone gets Naomi mad enough, she will stand up for herself.

ReplyDeleteI revised my thinking about Naomi.
At first, I thought that Naomi was a worrier and will always be one. After reading this chapter, I found out that Naomi would look at the bright side of things when Owen is not positive.
My text evidence for this is that when Owen and Naomi where in the shed, hiding from Skyla, Owen was very afraid that Gram would have to give them up to Skyla. But Naomi Said: “Gram would do anything to keep us safe.”
I also revised my thinking about Skyla.
At first, it seemed like Skyla came back to say sorry for all the trouble that she caused for seven years.
Then, when Owen and Naomi got back from the hospital, Skyla got a phone call…
“Hi baby! Yes. She’s coming along just like we planned. Ok. By!”
This call is a sign that Skyla does not obey Gram’s rules and is just coming back to bring Naomi to Sapphire to get money from the state.
This is why I changed my thinking about Skyla and Naomi.
At first in the book becoming naomi leon I though Skyla was a nice person because she gave Naomi and Owen hugs. Also she got present for Naomi. My thinking has changed a lot. One reason my thinking has changed is because at the doctors office Skyla smacked Naomi really hard and said "there is more of where that came from"and that is just so rude. Naby Skyla is not a bad person but she is a alcoholic so naby it is the alcohol that effects her behavior. Another reason my thinking about her changed is because that when Naomi looked at the 12 pack beer Skyla said "if you know what is best for you then keep your mouth shut."That makes me think that Skyla is a shamed of her drinking and trying to hid it And my last reason is at the doctors office she said great now now iv got a FLK about Owen, this makes me wonder how Skyla feels about her sell because she is making fun of her kid. For all these reasons that is what changed my thinking of she was a nice person to a person who needs help.
ReplyDeleteBefore I had a big Idea that maybe Skyla's coming was a good thing, and my text evidence for that is ,Skyla's being helpful (braiding Naomi's hair,buying her lip gloss and stuff) got Naomi a new friend,Blanca.

Because , Skyla slapped Naomi in the cheek and she said "there is more where that came from" and did not even say sorry or any thing, Also Skyla threatened to hurt Gram because "she is old and is in weak condition." .,And threatened Naomi again by saying "You are coming with me to Las Vegas if you like it,or not."And Gram is a gentle and calm person and seems like she is the kind of person who talks before they do action ,and she up-rooted Baby Begula.
At first I thought Skyla loved Gram because I thought Gram was the only one who Skyla depended on. The one who cared about her after her mom died in a car crash, the person who tried to be nice and let Skyla take Owen to the Doctor, the one who left Skyla after she asked to go to their parent teacher conference. Those are things that Gram did and Skyla blew off. Now I think that Skyla is cruel, mean, rude, unkind, not selfless, a negative person and is going to kill Gram and bring her to court. She even put her in jail and she might do something to Naomi. I think this because in the text it says when Skyla slapped Naomi in the face. She said what if gram dies or gets hurt? You’ll have to stay with me she said in a squeaking voice.
ReplyDeleteIn the book, Becoming Naomi Leon, I changed my thinking because at first in the text in the chapter a charm of hummingbirds, Gram told Naomi that all Skyla wanted was to stay at Baby Beluga while Clive was in training, and I thought that Skyla could be good in a way and I didn't think that Skyla would take the kids away. But now, Skyla was trying to take Naomi to Las Vegas because of Clive and Sapphire. so that they could get money from the state. Skyla doesn't know what Clive is doing to her, but Skyla is with Clive because all the money that Clive gives her to go shopping for her and Naomi. So now I think that Skyla is not thinking of what is good for her children. I think this because in the text it says that Skyla is going to take Naomi and Owen away from Gram who is doing a good job of raising them. Also in the text, Sklya said that Naomi is going to come one way or another no matter what.

I think this because in the text Skyla slapped Naomi across the face. Also, Skyla was threatening to hurt Gram on Naomi's account.

My text evidence is, Skyla forced Naomi to say thank you to Clive for all the presents and for Owen’s bike. Another text evidence for that is, when they took Owen to the hospital Skyla retorted he is going to be a blum, one of those shoes that are on discount that are ugly and broken. Another text evidence is, she left Owen and Naomi with gram for seven years. That’s not a mom I want.

Now I know she is a bad mom because, i'll give you a list: 1. Skyla threatens to hurt, kill or make Gram reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sad 2. She slaps Naomi 3. Skyla calls Owen a blem 4. She tries to get Naomi to leave for Las Vages without even telling Gram 5. Skyla tries to take Naomi to Las Vages just so Naomi can babysit Saphire so they can get child support money 6. Clive and Skya try to convince Gram to let Owen to play checkers against some guys just so Skyla+Clive can get money off of betting on him.

I know this because gram knows that Skyla dose not like Santiago so she is going to were he lives. Also gram thinks the way to make things right is to play it cool. I know this because when Naomi told gram about Skyla gram comely said go to the shed. also when Naomi thous there was an earth quake she sat with fabiola and drank coffe
ReplyDeleteIn the poem the author was trying to tell me about MLK. She was saying that MLK had a dream a big dream that all boys and girls would be treated equally in a good way. The author was also trying to say that when MLK made the I have a dream speech, he made sure he chose his words carefully no matter what other people said. What the author meant when she said “the sturdy grace of brother hood” is that MLK understood how to be peaceful no matter what was happening.
