Bud believes that when your six years old you become a man. I know this because when Bud was going to the foster home with the Amos family he was thinking about Jerry, and Jerry is six and Bud thought that Jerry was a man because when Bud was six his mom died and thats when Bud became a man. Another reason why Bud thinks that when you are six years old you become a man is because when his mother died he held back all of his feelings and that's why he doesn't cry (I would be crying). Those are the reasons why Bud thinks that when you become six years old you become a man.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Indigo.
DeleteBud believes he has empathy for himself. He might be brave, and rarely, scared.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that you have to lie to survive and that crying dosent help anything.i know this because when bud was in the shed he said there was no resin to cry and that it was unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteI think bud is waiting for something great to happen in his life.LIKE meeting his father or find a nice or go to another familythat will treat him respectfully. AND i think bud believes that when the door opens something good is gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteha!!!!!!!!
Deleteyour name Jose
DeleteBud believes that he has too lie to survive.I know this because one, he lied that he was a random families son in order to get food because the place would not let him in because it was after seven AM. He got so used to that lie that twice he called his fake mother mom instead of ma'am. Also, Bud has a whole entire list of lie rules. It is called Rules and Things to Have a Funner Life and Make a Better Liar Out of Yourself. This means that Bud must lie a lot. Otherwise he would not have hundreds of rules. I know this is true because the book says that one of his rules is if you make a lie, make it simple so that you will not forget it. Lastly, Bud said that Todd was a good liar. In my opinion, only a super good liar who lies all the time (maybe to survive) could tell wether a person is a good liar or not when the person is lying to someone who beleives everything the other person says, and Todd's mom believed everything Todd said.
ReplyDeleteBud is more of a mixed feeling kid like when He can be in a angry or peaceful mood . Like usually , later in the story he is both ways . At first he's usually angry , but then he gets use to it and is very calm . I think it's happened because of how he's grown and he's not going to be a whiny little baby any more so he calms down and doesn't react furiously. He is trying to grow up so he doesn't whine and try's to be strong. This is why I think his belief system is to be peaceful and brave .
ReplyDeleteBud believes that you should have empathy for people even if they were mean to you, you should be nice to them no matter what. Like when he said he wanted to get his revenge on the Amoses, you thought he was going to kill them but he didn't he had empathy because he didn't want to use violence he had empathy for them that makes him nice.
ReplyDeleteBud's belief system is to be brave and stay strong. I know this because in the text bud whacked a bat on a fake vampire bat but was a bee hive. And bud jumped out the window and ran so that is bud's belief system.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that lying is an OK thing to do... But it's not. My 1st reason for his belief is that the name of all his rules is: Bud Caldwell's rules and things for having a funner life and making a better liar out of yourself. My 2nd reason for that belief is he lied/pretended that the family was HIS family even though they weren't.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that the man in the flyer is his dad. i know this because he said that the guy looks like him and that there last names are simaler. and he is looking at the flyer over and over again and he is going to find his father.
ReplyDeleteBud believes if one door closes another door opens. This means he does something and that is opening one door and when he leaves the door closes when he goes off to do something else. I know this because when he got out of the Amoses shed Bud started going to the library thinking and hoping Ms. Hill, the librarian, would give him some food. This is where a door has opened. Then he found out by someone that she has married and she has gone some were else. This is we're the door closes and he even said" a door has closed lets hope that the next door is better." This shows he is optimistic and hopeful.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that when a door closes another one opens this means that if you had your chance and you blew it then you will get another one like when bud lost his chance at finding miss hill another door is opening for him:D
ReplyDeleteBud believes that it is ok to lie if your lying to survive I know this because... Bud has these things that are how to make a better liar out of yourself and to have a better life and he has these lists so he can lie to survive and he's a orphan and his mom died out of nowhere and his dad well bud dose not know where he is. And he's bin through a lot so he has to lie to survive.
ReplyDeleteI think Bud thinks it's ok to lie. I know this because Bud has written a book called "Bud Caddwell's Rules To Have a Funner Life And Make A Better Liar Out Of Yourself." He has hundreds of lies in there, so Bud must lie a lot. Another reason I know this is Bud faked who his mom was and pretended that some nice woman was his mom, so he could have breakfast. He lied to an adult. So Bud must believe it's ok to lie.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that you have to lie to survive.
ReplyDeleteI know this because Bud lies to the Amos’s when he says sorry. He also understood Todd when he lied to survive. According to:
Rules and Things #3
If you tell a lie, make sure it’s real simple so you won’t forget it later.
Bud does this a lot of times during the book, like when he pretends that two strangers are his parents so he could get food. Otherwise, he would have starved to death.
Also, Bud lied when he was begging Ms. Amos to not send him back to The Home.
Therefore, because Ms. Amos wanted to hurt Bud, she wants to send him back to The Home so Bud would be hurt. But really, Bud wants to go back to The Home.
He uses a trick from his collection of rules:
Rules and Things #118
You have to give adults something that they think they can use to hurt you by taking it away. That way they might not take something away that you really do want. Unless they're crazy or real stupid they won't take everything because if they did they wouldn't have anything to hold over your head to hurt you with later.
I like how you gave a lot of details and you weren't just saying that Bud lies to survive because Bud lies to survive isn't a belief, it's a thesis statement.
DeleteBud believes that he has to lie to survive in the world because he has had such a hard life. I know this because Bud lies and he said he was part of another family in order to get food. Another example is that he writes in his notebook that "when you lie keep it simple". This is an example of his belief that lying is just part of living and it's something he has to do.
ReplyDeleteHis actions tell me that he has to lie to survive and no one takes him seriously. If he lies, maybe he would be more responsible to them. Evan thought he might look like he is mean and has no empathy. He does show he has empathy for the Amouses, even though they were mean to him. He still kept on going and that shows he had empathy for Amouses. He made sure anyone else who came from the orphanage wouldn't have to sleep in the shed with all those bad things he asked his life for us he showed empathy. He should empathy at the mission when he went to get food.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Bud Not Buddy I think Bud believes that Hermen E. Calloway is his father because whenever his mother looked at the flyer that said 'Hermen E. Calloway NYC'. She probably got really upset because the father abandoned the wife because it was when the great depression happened and all the men had to leave to go to a different state to get money.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason I think that Bud believes that Calloway is his father is because his last name is really close to the same last name Calloway. And I know that usually family members have the same last name.
My last reason that I know Bud believes Calloway is his father is because Bud is always saying this dude is probably my father. Bassed on the way he acted and spoke I think he secretly wished this was true.
For all those reasons I think Bud believes that Hermen E. Calloway is his father.
Bud’s belief system is, you have to lie to survive. I know this because, When Bud was trying to get to eat at the mission he lied that his mom was in the line so he could eat. Bud has rules those rules are all lies to make his life better. Bud said for a good liar he is Todd is pretty good too at liying. Also, when Bud says sorry to the Amoses he lied. Lastly, when Bud says he does not want to go back to the orphanage but he really does want to go back to the home, that is one of Bud’s rules.
ReplyDeleteIn Bud, Not Buddy, Bud believes that the only way to survive is to lie, and it's more fun for him. My first piece of evidence is Bud has a whole list that is called "things in rules to have a better life and make a better liar of yourself,: and it goes to over 300. Another piece of evidence I have that Bud always lies, is that he even lied to get breakfast so that he wouldn't starve. He even went along with these parents when they said he was their son., which was a lie.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that the man on the poster is his father because that man has a similar last name to his.Bud believes that family is important. I know this because Bud is trying to find his father so he can have have a family.
ReplyDeleteBud believes that lying is helpful to survive: 1) He lies about being family with the people because he wants to have breakfast at the mission, and if he doesn't he will go hungry. 2) Bud says "I'm sorry" and lies when he doesn't really mean it. He does this so that Mrs. Amos won't hurt him. 3) Bud wouldn't have started his mental book if he was a regular boy in a regular situation but he is in a situation many kids haven't been in. So he makes up his mental book with the rule about lying in order to survive. This all proves that Bud believes that lying is helpful to survive.
ReplyDeleteThat is good evidence and I believe you, maybe Bud made the book to remember what he thinks about lying.
DeleteBud believes that lying can get you out of any situation.
ReplyDeleteI know this because...
He lies a lot and has not gotten caught or forgotten his lie yet.
He can get caught but is really careful about what he does and how he does it.
He lied to the "not real mother" so he could get food.Bud thinks that lying can fix any thing or every thing.
Also ,Bud does not have a normal life, and I believe that he lies instead of crying.Lying helps him let out his emotion.
Shhhhhhhhhh
