  1. The author's message is that you have to be empathetic to others. I know this because Kenny understood why the new kids were so sad so he gave them some lunch when they didn't have anything. Also Joeda understood why Byron regretted lighting matches in the house so Joeda blew out the matches everytime mama tried to burn Byron.

    2. I really agree with you and I like how you used the part where Byron got his lips stuck as evidence because you learn a lot about the characters in that chapter.

  4. Byron thinks that if he does bad things people will think he's cool I know this because Byron died he's hair to be cool even though he knew it was the wrong thing to do this shows that Byron will do any thing to look cool.

  5. My theory is Byron is stubborn because even though the mom said not to light matches in the house Byron lit a match. Byron also put stuff in his hair to straighten it and his mom got mad.

    1. You're evidence really shows that Byron does crazy stuff to himself and that he may do something like that again. It also supports you're theory very strongly and makes me agree

  7. Byron try to do something nice he takes it the wrong way when he was trying [not so much trying more like ripping it out of lerry dunns hands] and when he was giving cookies to kenny then he aimed it at the bird and he killed it

  8. I think that the main problem in the story is Byron. I think this because he always seems to be getting into trouble or he is being mean to someone or being disrespectful. An example of Byron being mean is when he pushed Larry Dunn up against a fence over and over again and was making a joke out of it. An example of him being disrespectful is when the Dad Joetta and Kenny were working on the brown bomber making it look nice Byron said it looked like a polished turd on wheels. An example of Byron getting in trouble was when he was playing with matches when he wasn't supposed to. When Wilona found out that Byron was using matches Byron got in a lot of trouble and his mom was going to burn him but Joetta saved him. That is why I think that Byron is the problem in this book.

    1. Interesting theory omalara. I think you're evidence really shows how Byron is a troublemaker and is a problem in the story. You're evidence also supports you're theory really well and made me agree with you're theory

  11. I think an author's message in "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" is that everyone has a kind and good heart on the inside. I know this because Byron buried a bird he accidentally killed. Also he helped Kenny get his gloves back. Finally, he gave Kenny swedish creme cookies an apple so he didn't get a "chokey" throat.

  12. The authors message is people aren’t all bad they have a good side. I know because Byron dropped the mr. cool act and got all excited when he saw the record player. Also when he he hit the bird he dug a grave and put two popsicle sticks together as a cross. - Adrian Damy

  13. The main problem in the Watson Go To Birmingham is that Byron a character from the book is a troublemaker. I know this because in the text it said that Byron lights matches on fire for fun when he's not supposed to because his mom is scared of fire. Also, he got his lips frozen to the car mirror because he was kissing his reflection.

  14. Kenny’s motivation is to be like his brother Byron. He always wants his brother to notice him. I know this because in the text it, Bryon was throwing cookies at the birds to show Kenny that they would not budge. Bryon told Kenny to throw the cookie at the bird. Kenny doesn’t like to do, but because he wants to be like his brother, he throws the cookie at the bird. Also, Byron ask Kenny if he wanted to survive a snow storm. Kenny said, “yes”. So, Byron and Buphead throw Kenny into the snow pile. This hurt Kenny in the face, but he didn’t say anything.

  15. Wilona Watson’s, Momma, motivation to scare Byron was to teach him a lesson. My evidence is Byron was caught lighting matches in the house so Momma swore to God she would burn Byron if he was caught lighting a match in the house again. Byron only went a few weeks without lighting a match So Momma told Kenny and Joetta to get matches so she could burn Byron. If it wasn’t for Joetta then Byron would have a burnt finger. Momma wouldn’t have burned Byron she was just trying to scare him and teach him the danger of matches . That is the motivation for why the Momma was trying to scare Byron .

  16. Byron believes that it is okay to bully people my 1st piece of evidence is Byron was trying to help kenny at first, then people started coming and then Byron wanted to put on a show so he threw Lary. My second piece of evidence is Byron is a juvenile delinquent I know this because he buttered his hair without permission and now he looks like a egg because his dad cut all his hair off if he didn't want that to happen he should of ask permission to butter his hair that's what he gets. (Sorry if my sentences are to long)
