In forest in Manhattan. I want to learn about there favorite food and what they did to pass the time. I know Thanksgiving was created because the Native Americans helped the pilgrims out when they didn't have enough food.

    1. I know that there is a native American tribe called the Iroquois and that most of the native americans have shelter in longhouses. And that they lived/live in New York,Canada and Wisconsin. I would like to learn more about their culture and traditions. It really interests me. And I would like to learn more about the food and clothing. What do I know about thanksgiving? Well I know its a holiday where everyone gets together and have turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce. And I know that the pilgrims celebrated the first harvest. And I know that whenever thanksgiving comes everyone gives thanks.

  2. I would like to know more about the native amaricans culture and how they lived.I know that the Native Amaricans lived in New York and then these people called the pilgrims came and did'nt know how to hunt food or make houses so the native amaricans share there food with them and now every once a year we celebrate something called thanks giving. The reason we would eat turkey is because when the Native Amaricans were around the easiest thing to hunt down and kill then eat was turkey so now every year we would celebrate how the native amaricans shared with the pilgrims!

  4. One thing I know about the native american's is that when they came to New york they had no land. They had to build their own houses. I know this because I did research online. I would like to learn how they made their own clothing, how did they kill the animals. The native American's started thanksgiving and I am thank full for that because I like when my family members come over they bring food and we celebrate together.

  6. What I know about the Native Americans of New York is that they have several tribes through out New York. I also know that men would take 4 big elm trees, and use them as posts. These posts would support the roof of a longhouse. The men would bend trees for the rest of a longhouse and tree bark would be used for a roof. What I know about thanksgiving is that the pilgrims came on the mayflower ship to start new lives and they had no idea how to hunt. The Native Americans taught the pilgrims how to hunt. The pilgrims wanted to show thanks by having a feast with the Native Americans, thats how thanksgiving was born. What I want to learn is the Native American culture and traditions .I want to learn this specific subject because the Native Americans culture is different then New Yorks culture today.

  9. What I know about Native Americans is that they have multiple tribes, and they wear shoes called moccasins that are made out of animal skin. What I would like to learn about Native Americans is what kids did or do all day for fun. What I know about Thanksgiving is that you gather around with your family and eat turkey and stuffing and have fun.

  11. The things I know about native Americans are that the tribe that lived in Manhattan was called the Lenape. Manhatten was originally named Manahatta which meant hilly island. The native Americans called the Hudson River Shatemuc which meant the river that flows both ways.

I would like to learn what happened to the native Americans and how they
left? Another thing I would like to learn is how they got so far? Another thing I would like to learn is how did they get there materials to make their tools?

The things that I know about Thanksgiving are the pilgrims found out about the Native Americans and they all went there and the native Americans taught the pilgrims how to survive and they all had a big Dinner to celebrate finding the native Americans and them succeeding learning how to survive.

  12. I know that Native Americans of New York had three crops called the three sisters. They are corn, squash, and beans. Today they are called succotash. The Native Americans lived in long houses and wigwams. They wore clothes such as leggings, shirts, and moccasins made out of animal skins.

Men did all of the hunting and fishing. Women took care of the children, farmed, and cooked. I would like to know more about their legends, ceremonies, and dancing. People lived in clans that were named after animals, and each clan shared a long house. Whenever a couple got married, they went to live with the wife's clan. The clan mothers of the clan got to choose leaders who were only men to lead the clan.

On the first Thanksgiving the pilgrims had not been in America very long and they were having a hard time living here. The Native Americans showed them how to live. They all had a big feast to celebrate Thanksgiving.

  13. The natives Americans of New York did not believe that you could own land. So they agreed to a deal with the Dutch settlers to sell Manhattan for 24 dollars. There were a couple different tribes that lived in New York. There were the Mohawks and the Algonquin tribe.
In the French and Indian War they helped the British side against the French for land in the New World.

I'd like to learn more about the Native Americans' culture and beliefs because I always find the subject interesting and I think it would be fun to learn about.

What I know about Thanksgiving is that it was a celebration of thanks for the crops that the pilgrims and the Native Americans grew. They harvested their crops in the fall, and today families come together and have the same celebration with turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy and other kinds of food.

  14. The Native American Indians were the first ones into the Unites States. I know that the Native Americans lived long ago in New York State. I know that some Native Americans fought in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. They mostly fought for the English and against the Americans. I know that the Native Americans fought against the Pilgrims to own their lands. The Native Americans helped the Europeans by giving them clothes and food.

I would like to learn how the Native American Indians got to New York. Also, were the Native Americans peaceful? I wonder why the Native Americans shared their stuff with the Pilgrims?

On Thanksgiving the Native Americans and the Pilgrims shared their food with each other and talked about the special things that happened in their life. The Pilgrims called it Thanksgiving because they shared stuff with the Native Americans. What I like about Thanksgiving is that we get to eat turkey.

  15. I learned a lot of facts today in school about Indians. Like women would grow corn, Lima beans and squash. These crops were used for food to feed they're families. The hunters would hunt meat to eat and eventually feed they're families smalls amount of meats. They didn't have refrigerators to store the meat which is why they ate the meat. A young Mohawk upstate new york named Kateri Tekakwitha was the first indian to become a christian. Now Kateri is a named a saint. I believe that Indians had a rough life because the pilgrim stole there land. Which caused Indian go to war and many people passed away.
Lastly I researched that Indian used buffalo for many things. That helped them survive by using leg bones for weapons like arrows and knives. They would use the skin for clothing as well as a teepee. The poop was used for fire and dirt. I think that was interesting way to use one animal many ways

  16. I know they eat beans, corn, squash, deer, wild birds and wild berries. They use bent wood to make shelter. I would like to learn more about how the Iroquois live in the wild. If I was able to see the Iroquois Indians I would ask them how they could drink and clean themselves in cold lakes and rivers.

In thanksgiving you thank people for all that they've been doing for you and how they help you get through hard situations in life. Thanksgiving is also a holiday when your family members are invited to your or someone else's home to celebrate their great year or years being with you and helping you. For example, last year my uncles, aunts and cousins came to my house to celebrate thanksgiving and we all prayed before we ate.

  17. I know that Native Americans made their clothes out of animal skin. I know that some Native American houses were called tepees. The men were hunters and the women were gatherers. I would like to learn if the Native Americans wrote books because I want to know if they are in a different language.
Thanksgiving is about giving things and sharing. It is when we give thanks to each other. It's about when the pilgrims and the Native Americans had a big feast together and all worked together.

  18. Things I know about the Native Americans of NY are that they built longhouses by bending wood and putting it together to make the frame and then put bark onto that for the outer layer of it. I also know that the men wore long shirts and pants and the women wore skirts and leggings. I would like to learn what kind of dances they do and what traditions they have. I know how Thanksgiving started. The pilgrims came and they didn't know how to get food so they died off. Then the Indians came and taught them how to hunt and had a feast to celebrate.

  19. I know the holiday Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Indians and became a tradition all the way until now. The Indians celebrated Thanksgiving with the pilgrims. They celebrated it by cooking up most of the food they had and a huge juicy turkey. After the food was set up everyone got together and talked and ate until they were full.

I know the Iroquois Indians decided to move every 10-30 years because the soil lost its nutrition. There are some festivals the Iroquois celebrate and those festivals are corn planting, green corn, harvest festival of Thanksiving, Maple festival, New Years and the Strawberry Festival. The Iroquois men left during the winter to go hunt.

I would like to learn more about their festivals. Another thing I would like to learn about is life in a longhouse village.

  20. I know that each year on the fourth Thursday of November people gather for feasting, football and family which is Thanksgiving. It is a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest. I would like to learn how the Native Americans came here and why and how the Native Americans got wiped out.

  21. One thing I know is that the Native Americans ate very tiny meat and had 3 crops (squash, corn and lima beans) named the "3 sisters". One other thing is that they have a house named a longhouse that is made of bended trees for a frame and bark to fill it in. One other thing is that they wore long shirts and leggings and fuzzy shoes and on hot days men only wore leggings and ladies only wore the long shirt. I would like to know what Native Americans did at first without anything and how they bend the trees for the frame of the longhouse. I know on Thanksgiving you eat feasts like turkey, stuffing and potatoes. You celebrate the Native American traditions and share gifts and traditions.

  22. The iroquois Indians lived in long houses which were made out of bent trees and bark. They ate squash, lima beans, and corn which they called the three sisters. Men usually fished for seafood or sometimes hunted for meat. They also made maple syrup and the women usually cooked. The Iroquois Indians wear long tops that went to right above their knees. This long top was made of cotton, suede, or animal skin. For the bottoms they wore a combination of pants and leggings which were made out of leather or suede. They wore headresses made out of animal feathers and they often wore moccasins. What I know about Thanksgiving is that the pilgrims came and took their homeland and forced them to change their lifestyle and then killed lots of Indians. That's why in my house we call it Thankstaking.
