My theory is that Naomi is worried they will not find their father. One piece of evidence is that when Gram told Naomi that they will find their father,Naomi started writing in her notebook:We will find him... We will find him... like she needs luck to find him. My second piece of evidence is when she wanted to carve a face of her father like she will never ever see his face again which means if she thinks she will not see her father,she thinks she will not find her father.

DeleteNaomi cares about her brother Owen and Gram. I think that because Skyla said let go to Las Vegas and Naomi said Gram or Owen are not coming, I am not going. This made me think Naomi cares about her brother Owen and Gram. The author’s message is that if you are an alcoholic it is hard to take care of your kids properly, like Skyla. I feel bad about Owen because Skyla didn’t take care of him in a nice way like she does for Naomi but she take cares of Naomi mean like that time she slap her sooooo hard then a punch. I wish Skyla stop drinking. If I was Naomi I would throw up. If I was Naomi I would go to another state with Gram and Owen.

DeleteMy big idea for the book Becoming Naomi Leon is Naomi is more worried about not finding their father than Skyla finding them.My first piece of evidence is she thought "Skyla will never find us here".I don't think Skyla would go to Mexico either.My second piece of evidence is she kept writing "We will find him.We will find him.We will find him".She didn't write: She won't find us.She won't find us. She won't find us.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the reasons Naomi is so quiet because shes afraid of her mother. My first piece of evidence is Skyla said" don't give me look that you used to give me",after she spanked Naomi. My other evidence is she has been left by her mom so she really doesn't trust her because of that. That's another reason Naomi is scared of Skyla.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Naomi and Owen will not be found. Even though, the grandmother is worried that Skyla will find them. Gram is concerned that Naomi and Owen will be taken away from her. My evidence is they could be anywhere because there are many places they could hide. They also don`t know where they are in Mexico. I do not think that she will find them because the house they are in has a tall fence, so even if Owen was playing she would not see him or Naomi. The thing that tells me that Gram is scared is that in the story it said that she was trying to convince herself that Skyla would not find them and to be happy.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is gram is unsure of the plan to find the father. My evidence is when Gram was talking to Naomi about finding the father,Gram said " I am ... I am ... locked on the prospect of finding him ". I think the way she talking showed sadness,nervousness,and being unsure. My second piece of evidence is Gram has been trying to look happy when she really isn't. This might be coming from being unsure about the plan, as well as other things. Good night!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the main problem in Becoming Naomi Leon is Naomi and Owen's mother, Skyla abandoned them, left them with their great great grandmother and comes back seven years later. Skyla wants to take Naomi back, take her to Los Vegas, and take her away from Gram and Owen. Skyla is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteMy first piece of evidence is Skyla slapped Naomi and said, "There's more where that came from."
Also Skyla's a acoholic and does crazy things and says crazy things that effect others.
Lastly Skyla threatened Naomi and said, "You know, anything could happen to Gram any time now, as old as she is."
This evidence shows tat Skyla is not a person you could trust, i would definitely NOT trust Skyla to take care of a child and child because of the way she acts.
My theory is Gram cares about finding Naomi and Owen's father. I know this because Gram's is acting really weird.For example when Naomi and Owen were in the car driving to mexico gram gave Naomi a anxious look. Another reason is gram is trying to protect these kids because Naomi keeps having thoughts of her drunk mother saying "I'm coming for you Naomi".Gram's part as a family member is to keep Naomi and Owen safe so Skyla won't take them away to Las Vegas to Clive to get more money from the state to get more alcohol for Skyla.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Skyla is an irisbonsible mother who never knew what she was doing as a mother.My first piece of evidence is Skyla never knew what it was like having parents around and didn't know what to do as a mother.My second piece of evidence is Skyla didn't want the kids and left them with Gram to go shopping, SHOPPING! And now she is coming back 7 years later to come get them when really she was just going along other Clive's plan since she despised Naomi from the beginning.Bonus: Skyla never really loved them in the first place even before she met Clive because she left them at Gram's trailer and thinking she couldn't take care of the noise because she thought they were DEFORMED and that shopping was more important than taking care of her kids

My evidence is Floa told everyone that the lady at the fruit stores last name was Leon so her and Santiago could be related My second piece of evidence is Skyla threatened Naomi so that motivates her to think about finding her father if he can help the situation.

My second piece of evidence is that she dreamed about being with her Dad. When Naomi was carving soap she said that she wish she could just carve away and see her Dad's face in there.
ReplyDeleteI would like to mirror what Claire said in class but say my evidence. This will be the second thing i will right on the blog. Skyla didn't just come back for Naomi and Owen because she loved them but because she wanted something from them.
ReplyDeleteMy first piece of evidence is Skyla slapped and did very bad things to Naomi. If she came back because she loved her she wouldn't have slapped her you should never slap your child.
My second piece of evidence is Skyla just came back to them after seven years of her not being with them, she didnt just come back because she loved them if she really loved them then she should of never left them alone with their great great grandmother that might die because she is old. :(
My theory is Naomi likes to carve soap and the carvings are special to her. I know this because when Naomi couldn't sleep, when she put the family of soap elephants around her, she fell asleep and the book said "the family of elephants guarded my dreams as I fell asleep." This shows that Naomi feels safe around them. Also, it said Naomi made a whole shelf of them, and that means she must do it a lot and that proves she likes to carve soap.

I know this because on the back of the book it says that once Skyla showed up there was a lot of questions. also, Skyla is the reason they went to mexico to look for there dad to help out Naomi, gram and owen. this shows thar Skyla is the main problem in the story.

ReplyDeleteEVIDENCE 1: There is only one little place, which is Oaxaca in Mexico, and one little house in Oaxaca, and Naomi being in and out of the house, will make her even harder to find.
EVIDENCE 2: She is an alcohol addict which means she will probably spend half of her life being in and out of a rehab center, being drunk and having mood swings. So, she probably will not go to Mexico any time soon. Plus, she doesn’t speak Spanish, so if she has to go to a rehab center again, she won’t know where one is and how to speak with the nurses.
These pieces of evidence support my theory that Skyla will not find Naomi.
Naomi's motivation in Becoming Naomi Leon is to feel these emotions, safe, calm, and happy. My first piece of evidence is when they arrived at the house Gram, Owen, and Naomi got to eat breakfast. And when they ate it they thought it tasted good. My second piece of evidence is when Naomi held the soap carving in her hands and wished that her dad was in it. Also, another reason why Naomi feels safe is because she is somewhere far away from the place that she used to live in (Lemon tree). Skyla and Clive would never find us here. P. 146. This shows that Naomi isn't that worried that Skyla and Clive are going to take Naomi and bring her to Las Vages because she knows that she is safe there. I also want to say that Gram seems little worried because in the text it says Gram's face scrunched up in worry. And because she thinks that Skyla might come and take Naomi to bring her to Las Vages. Also Gram remembers what Skyla said about calling the police on her. '' You are coming with me one way or another yelled Skyla.

I know this because in the text it says that Gram would go to the end of the world to protect Naomi and Owen from there mom Skyla Jones. Another evidence is that Gram brought Naomi and Owen to Mexico to find their father to help them in court to stop Skyla from taking Naomi.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Naomi's feelings change - sometimes she is worried but at other times she is not worried. My evidence is that if Naomi doesn't find her father there is a very high chance she will have to go to las vegas with Skyla and Clive which would be a bad thing and makes Naomi worried. But in the text it said "I wrote a hundred times we will find him we will find him", which makes me think Naomi is sure that she is going to find her father.
