  4. In the short story, "A Spectacular Ride", Sybil's believes that helping people is the right thing to do. I know this because Sybil became the country's messenger. She is risking her life to safe others. The pathway was covered with mud and it was slippery. There could have been British solders riding down the path she was on, they could have been hiding to attack someone that passes by. Sybil is being brave for her country and her family. Sybil was riding for independence but not only that she wanted to be proud of herself and she wanted to be remembered in a good, and positive way. She wanted to be like a hero that saved the world.

Sybil is feeling tired she couldn't even stay on her horse. She is also feeling worried that she wouldn't make it back. She was worried that she would fail her mission and let down her folks. I would also be worried I wouldn't have taken that risk. I think Sybil is brave for that.

I think there are many lessons you could learn from this short story. One lesson that I think the author is trying to tall you is everybody is strong and could make a difference no matter if your a boy or a girl. It doesn't matter what gender you are.

  5. some of sybils emotions are terrified but determined. I say determined because when her father asked her if she wanted to take the job she said yes because she was so keen on saving our country because she would've risked her life.

I say terrifed because there is a war going on and i mean what if she gets shot anything could happen and what if there was a spy she could've got sniped.

  6. The belief systems in the short story, A Spectacular Ride, are that you had to act fast. You had to be cautious too. The setting, upstate New York is physically important in the story because it shows how long and hard the ride must have been for Sybil. It's emotionally important because it shows all the pressure Sybil was under, having to ridden in all almost 80 miles on the rough terrain yelling a message all the time. One other significant detail is that Sybil is a woman, and woman weren't really allowed to do those kind things back then, riding horseback all night, but in the war, everybody pitched in, that's why there were Molly Pitchers!

  7. I think the lesson is that no matter who you are you can make a difference. My first peice of evidence is her dad (the general) didn't know if she should go or not. My second peice do evidence is Evan though she was tired and almost lost her voice she kept going!!! A few of the emotions were
    Pride
    Wondering
    quitting
    Alert
The things that make these important are if Sibly wasn't proud she wouldn't have gone.
If the dad didn't wonder to let her go many she wouldn't have gone.
If Sinly didn't want to qitt she wouldn't have been carefull . If the people weren'talert they could have missed the message.

  8. I believe that Sybil was very brave to travel 40 miles when she was only 13. My first piece of evidence is that she had to come off the road two times because of British soldiers that could have killed her. My second piece of evidence is that she is only 13 years old and what if she forgot the path and didn't know how to get back? And what if the whole British army came up and they just saw her telling everyone that the British were coming? They would have killed her on site and she couldn't hide from 2000 soldiers. Sybil's emotions are tiredness and stress. Tiredness because she ran 40 miles on a horse, screaming "the British are coming" over and over. That is about 1 hour of screaming at the top of your lungs! Stress because she doesn't know what could happen. She could be faced with the British army, the British soldiers could hear her and kill her, and there are a lot of bad things that could happen to her.

  9. In the story "A Spectacular Ride" the believe systems are that they believe in war and that she has to be a messenger to warn the Patriots about the British burning down the town of Danbury.

The physical and emotional setting is that they are in the country and they have to gather the people to fight against the Loyalists.

Some important details on the text are that Sybil was brave because even being a little girl she said : "i'll go, Star and I can do it". And also she was tired, hungry and almost lost her voice calling the Patriots to meet up, but she still did it and rode 40 miles on her horse.

  10. I think a lesson that we learned people were not civilized as we are now. They were selling and bidding on slaves, and fighting wars. They were very racist and sexist back then. But now we know that having slaves was wrong and so is fighting wars, and that race and gender does not matter!
I think the belief system is that Sybil that warning people is a good thing to do even if it means risking your life. I think this because Sybil could've slipped on the slippery roads, or get shot by British Soldiers, but still she took the chance and yelled out the warning to people along the road. Sybil was getting tired but still went on even though she could barely stay on Star's back. She was also losing her voice, but she still did the best she could to yell out the message. I think Sybil is a persistent hero and without her we might've fell under the British's defeat. I think an important detail is that Sybil is does not give up. It is important because you could be persistent and get past any goals you have. If you do give up, you will not accomplish anything.
I think this story is good because it shows how to help other people and be a better person.

  11. Sybil believed that she could send the message to the soldiers in time. I know this because even when the path was all muddy and there were unknown riders on the path, she still kept on going no matter what. Sybil felt brave and loyal on this trip. She represented a lesson. The lesson is that women can do things men can do. I know this because Sybil took over the messenger job and accepted it even though she knew there was a tough journey in front of her.

  12. I think that Sybil is courageous because she brave enough to go out and warn the people about the battle. Her mother was afraid and thought she was to young. My first piece of evidence is her mother said there are dangers other than slippery paths like: Outlaws and British soldiers. My evidence for Sybil's courage is how she said she would go with Star and how she said she can do the task her father issued.

  14. I think that Sybil believes that fighting for her freedom is right. I know this because Sybil without being forced to do the job she stepped up for the the job.

i think a message in this story its that its never wrong to do whats right.i know this because Sybil believe d that the british could not control her or her country.

an emotion that is shown by Sybil a lot in determination. i know this because even though that Sybil could barley talk she kept on talking if it mean risking her life but freedom for her and others.

  15. we have learned that we need to infer more than with other texts. The physical setting is at Ridgefield during the RW. And Sybil has to take over the role of a messenger. The emotional setting is that Sybil could get killed because there could be enemy soldiers on the road.Sybil was brave but today there wouldn't be as many children that would be that brave. Back then you had to sleep lighter in case of emergency.

  16. Sybil believes she can help people. So she tells her parents that she can and she does! Sybil helped a lot of people. And Sybil was smart when she went out. When ever someone else came she would hide so they wouldn't stop her. Sybil cares for peoples feelings. And she notices the feelings. When she looked at her mom she could tell she was sad.

Sybil likes to help. When she heard her dad say,"I must organize and prepare for the battle that will come, but someone must alert our men." She right away wanted to help. "Me and star can do it!'

In the end George Washington thanked Sybil for her good deeds. Sybil was a very special girl.

  17. In the short story Sybil believed that she could get the message to the village because she could ride her horse very good.

In the end Sybil lost her voice and her body was very tired from all of that riding and yelling.

The emotional part of this short story is when Sybil's mother did not want her to go because she thought Sybil would get hurt. There weren't any other messengers so she let her do it.

The important details of this short story is that Sybil did complete her job as a messenger and was able to gather the patriots so they could fight for freedom. In the end George Washington gave her a medal and thanked her for what she did.

  19. In the story “A Spectacular Ride” Sybil believes that she has to help her country and do her job, even though she has to risk her life. The details in the story such as “the weary messenger was no older than she” and “there are dangers other than slippery paths, her mother said.” “outlaws or deserters or even British soldiers may be on the road,” shows that this was long ago.The emotional setting is that Sybil is determined and persistent on her ride.My evidence for this is that it said that she was really tired and her voice was almost gone towards the end but she kept on going.
