The main problem in Becoming Naomi Leon is Naomi and Owen have a horrible life. I know this because they haven’t seen their parents in seven years. Their mom finally came back and now she abuses them. She smacked Naomi across the face so hard it left a mark. Their mom verbally abused Owen. She made fun of his disabity and was embarrassed that she had a disabled child. Naomi and Owen also have a horrible life because their mom didn’t let them see their dad for no reason. My last piece of evidence is that the kids still barely have a mom because even though she came back she is always drinking and always leaves them to go away with her boyfriend.

DeleteThe character motivation in Becoming Naomi Leon is Naomi is being motivated to speak to Blanca. I know this because in the text when Blanca first met Naomi, Naomi started to speak up like at recess Blanca wasn’t playing with anyone, so Blanca said hi then they started to talk about having a parent meet up at the conference. Blanca was new to the school and Naomi wanted to have a friend, but I do have to say she’s still a little shy. For example, when Owen was getting bullied Naomi said in her head why can’t I say something. she didn’t know what to do. I also think that she’s under peer pressure from skyla’s behavior like she’s an alcoholic and she is rude like her new boyfriend Clive. Naomi does soap carvings to calm her down and Clive used her duck soap carving to wash his hands like how rude!

DeleteNaomi León in the book “Becoming Naomi León” is very scared that her mom is basically kid-knapping her. I think that the author’s message is that you should learn to stick up for yourself when you get bullied. In the book, Naomi gets bullied a lot and the author said “Naomi’s hands were trembling with anger.” Also the text said: “Naomi could not talk at all. She tried but, nothing would come out.” Bad things happen to Naomi because she is not willing to stand up for herself. I think that the author said that so kids, and even adults to stand up for themselves. I think that the author wanted to show how bad bullying can be if you don’t stand up for yourself.

ReplyDeleteElephant Soap Carving means Family and relaxation for Naomi because it her reminder of Dad and it comforted her before sleeping.
Tape means calming down and satisfaction for Owen. He wore it to calm himself down and stuck it on Naomi before parent/teacher conferences.
Penny means good luck and happiness. Owen picked it up and said “Lucky penny!” and it was on the day Skyla would come to conferences.
Baby Beluga means safety and home, real home for Naomi, Owen and Gram. Naomi thinks about it as her real home.
Writer’s notebook means an alternate way of speaking and satisfaction for Naomi’s feelings and letting herself “talk” about her in lift in lists. She writes many lists and wishes 100 times.
Spray ‘n play means cheering up and reassurance after hard times for Gram, Owen, and Naomi.
Soap carving Bluebird of happiness had a happy sort of vibe.
I think Naomi believes that she can’t speak up. First because she wrote down things to say to the boys that tease her instead of saying them and she didn’t end up saying them. She tried to ignore them but it never worked. So she kind of just let them tease her. Second because she was scared of speaking up yo Skyla, because Skyla hit her so she thought maybe if I don’t say the right thing she’ll hit me again. So she sort of just let Skyla abuse her. Also because Syla threatened her a lot so she was scared of Skyla and didn’t speak up.
ReplyDeleteThe main problem is skyla is drinking my evidence is when skyla and naomi took owen to the doctor she said where the bathroom then noami down there after twenty minutes skyla came back with alot of perfume.my second evidence two when naomi went by car she saw 12 packs of beer the skyla Said this not you're business it my and then she warned her if she tell someone. My evidence three is when skyla was braiding naomi hair then she had throw up on her gown.

DeleteI think the Authors message is that you can't not speak up for yourself because Naomi gets bullied by boys and they keep doing it because she's not speaking up for herself they keep making fun of her last name Outlaw but she doesn't like it so she should speak up for herself because if she doesn't she could get bullied for the rest of her life and she might not like it but the reason that happened is because she never spoke up for her self in the first place!When Skyla hits her she never says stop or I thought you were my mother and mothers don't hit their own child!I think that because if I got hit by my own mom I would say like stop or say i'm going to call someone to help you and me work this out!I think the Author made that message because over 1,000 people get bullied in the world so I think he's or she is trying to say that if you don't speak up for your self you'll keep getting bullied even if you don't want to!I agree with this message because people do get bullied and its not funny when people all over the world almost every day people get bullied by people who probably got bullied as well which is rude to do if the bully didn't like like it when it happened to the him/her!Thats why I agree with this message!

ReplyDeleteThe main problem in Becoming Miami Leon is Skyla is a bad parent. Skyla left her kids for 7 years. She abusive towards them when she drinks saying mean things and not being nice. She told Owen if you don't clean your room I'm gonna slap you.she never showed up for parent teachers conference Gram had to pick them up. She never pays any attention to Owen only Naomi buying her nice things and nothing for Owen. She's also embarrassed of Owen's disability. She gets upset that the doctor couldn't do anything to help Owen. This is how I know Owen is a bad parent.

Clive wants to take Owen but Skyla does not want to deal with Owen since he has a disability. And Skyla abused the kids by slapping them and other mean things. And Skyla drinks a lot. My evidence that Skyla drinks is that she had a 12-pack of beer in the back car seat. And she goes to a rehab hospital and a half-way house. Clive is drinking too. I know this because if he wasn't drinking he would probably try to stop Skyla from drinking. I know this is very important because when Bernardo found out, he grabbed his biggest shovel and pointed it at Skyla.
ReplyDeleteI think the authors message in this story is that if your parents are abusive to you you should speek up and not continue to love them. the story shows us that when naomi was a baby she got abused by her mother and that naomi continued to love skyla and bad things happend.

I think naomi is a worry wart. She writes all her worrys in her writers notebook. Also she put worrying on her good at list.

ReplyDeleteThe main part of the story is that Naomi and Owen has a teribul life because Skyla left them alon for seven year where they cannot go back home.When she came back she was kind of upset. She also made fun of Owens disability .She was embarrassed that she had a physical disability child.They had a horrible life because there mom hadn’t made them see there dad for no reason.(I feel sad for Owen because Skyla is treating him differently then Naomi)

I also know this because she is doing child abuse. She is abusing her kids by hitting them and verbally insulting them.

I think that because Skyla said for Naomi to pack up because they are leaving on saturday. Skyla also said, if you don’t come I will call 911. ReplyDeleteI know this because in the text Skyla slapped Naomi in the face when Naomi was disobeying her. Also, Skyla said to Naomi, when they were at Baby Beluga and Gram wasn't there, that if Naomi didn't go with them to Las Vegas to babysit Safire then something bad might happen to Gram, and Skyla made it sound like she was planning do injure Gram if they disobeyed her.
The author's message in the book is that Skyla and Clive is threatening Naomi and was about to kill her Gram. Although I didn't read the whole text, the best of I could say is that Skyla slapped Naomi across the face and left her hands paralyzed. Owen put his arms around Naomi and he said,"Leave Naomi alone!" Then Skyla made a plan to take Naomi to Las Vegas, Nevada. But Naomi refused to. She just wants to live with her Gram. The moral of the story I could say that is never bring your daughter or son to the place that he/she doesn't like to go to.

I think Skyla character motivation is rude and mean I know this because Skyla slapped Naomi. She doesn't get presents from Owen and she does stuff with Naomi behind Grams back. I also think that Naomi charter beliefs system are that she worries a lot because when there is a problem in the story she gets worried instead of trying to solve it she just writes down her worries. Naomi also have a problem of not speaking up for herself. Since Owen has a disability he is different then other people. When he get nervous he puts tape on his shirt to calm down. Over all the motivation of that main character Naomi is to get rid of her worries.

ReplyDeleteMy first evidence for why Naomi is motivated to be a quite character is from when Skyla slapped her across the cheek. She said "back to what it used to be." That shows me that when Naomi was a little child, Skyla must have slapped her regularly.
My second reason why Naomi is motivated to be a quite person is because Skyla left Naomi and Owen in a flooded old motel in a store all alone.
So basically Naomi was abused. Being abused might make Naomi a quiet person. I imigian that you would be motivated to be quiet because you would not want to be abused again.
I Think The Author's Message Is That family is important. I know this because Naomi Is ALWAYS thinking about her dad. I also know this because she is so protective of her little brother Owen and she also worried because her mom is a drunk and is trying to take her away from her family.
