  1. The British put taxes on things without the colonists voting on it. The colonists didn't buy the tea because of the taxes. Tea sales were controlled by tea agents. On December 16 the Boston tea party happens, and then Britain sent soldiers and ships to block Boston harbor, and that made the colonists angry.

  4. My first fact on the Revaloutionary war is, some black men fought in the Revaloutionary war, and they were promised things that they didn’t get for fighting, like freedom. This is important because it shows that people didn’t keep there promises back then. Another fact is, woman fought for the army as well , this is important because it shows that woman can be strong too and don’t have to clean all day long. My third fact is George Washington was a general, this is important because it shows that he was more then just a president.

  5. One fact of mine was that the Americans outsmarted the British by using a new tactic which was hiding behind trees or stone fences when the British were walking by. I also learned that there was not all the states from today in the United States there were just thirteen colonies.

  6. I studied about James Forten and my first fact about him is that he was born September 2 in 1766 in Pennsylvania. My second fact is that James Forten was captured and put on a prison ship for 7 months. My 3 fact is that James Forten was captured but had the offer to leave but in order to leave James would have to give up his American citizen ship so he refused the offer. My 4 fact is that James had a job and was a good employee so good that when the owner of the place retired he gave the place up to James making James very wealthy. My 5 and last fact is that when James was born he wasn't born to slaves he was born to free people. Those are all my facts.

  7. What I learned about the Boston Tea Party that it took place on December 16th, 1773. It was a protest by the American Colonists against the British in regards to the tea taxes that had been imposed on them. This protest involved throwing chests of tea from three British trade ships into the Boston Harbor. Also I learnedBoston Tea Party Cause. In simplest terms, the Boston Tea Party happened as a result of “taxation without representation”, yet the cause is more complex than that. The American colonists believed Britain was unfairly taxing them to pay for expenses incurred during the French and Indian War.

  9. My first fact is that America won the battle of Saratoga. This is important because this was the first battle that America won. My second fact is that some of the slaves and Native Americans teamed up with England because England promised them freedom and land. Promises which they did not keep. This is important because this shows that Britain did anything that they could to get more people on their side. My third fact is that British General Thomas Gage’s wife betrayed England by telling America about the British plan to attack Lexington. She did this to protect America from England because she was born in New Jersey. This is important because without her help America would have been ambushed by England.

  10. Here are 3 facts I learned while researching:
    1. The Battle of Saratoga was a crushing defeat for the British. This is important because it was an important victory for the Americans since the British were trying to go through Saratoga to Albany and capture it and that's New York's capital.
    2. The Battle of Saratoga was in October of 1777. THis is important because if they win battle in the early middle hey can get more experience for the rest of the war.
3.General Horatio Gates stayed at camp while Benedict Arnold led the troops in the actual fighting. This is important and could have been helpful because it can show who the better generals are if other cases like this happened in the war. I am still yet to know what the amount of troops and how many casualties there were for both armies at the battles.

  11. In the American Revolution there was camp followers. Camp followers are wives who follow their husbands into the war because they didn’t want to be separated from their husband. Camp followers suffered the same type of hardship as the army men did. Also, camp followers sewed new uniforms and mended the old ones. Camp followers gave water to injured or thirsty solders and for overheated cannons. Margaret Cochran was a camp follower herself. When Mary’s husband was killed. She took the roll of being a soldier like her husband until she was hurt. Margaret Cochran received an award for her services. Camp followers were important to the war because they help the solders with different tasks around the battle field. If soldiers got hurt, the camp followers would try to heel them and give them water. Mary was helpful in the war because she took the place of her husband when he got hurt. She knew this was dangerous, but she wanted to help the army.

  12. So far in my research on the Boston Tea Party I have learned that in 1773 the French and Indian War ended in victory for the American Colonists who fought side by side with the British. Britain decided to keep their soldiers in America because they believed America needed to pay the British back for protecting the American colonists during the war. The British Parliament, imposed taxes on the colonists. I also learned that that in 1766 the Stamp Act was withdrawn after all the violent protests. In 1767 tea was taxed under the Townsend Act. Angry colonists would not buy British goods. The Boston Tea Party took place in Boston Harbor on December 16 1773.

  13. In the 1760s the British Parliament put new taxes on the colonies. The Sugar Act also known as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act (Duties also means taxes) was an act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on April 5th, 1764. The earlier Molasses Act of 1733 had imposed a tax of 6 pence per gallon of molasses. The British Parliament also passed the 1764 Currency Act that forbid the colonies from having paper money which made it almost impossible for them to pay their debts and taxes. Besides the Molasses Tax, in 1767 the British passed the Townshend Acts and placed taxes on everyday things like tea, paper and glass. Also between 1765 and 1775 the British raised taxes on colonists by raising taxes from 12 pence to 20 pence per head (per person). Then the colonist pretty soon said, "ENOUGH"!!!

  15. 1.The Battle of Concord happened on April 19th 1775. This battle is important because the battle started the Revolutionary War.

2.On July 3th 1775, George Washington became commander of the colonial army. This is important because if this event never happened the colonial army may have not won the American Revolutionary War.

3.On October 14th, the British surrendered to the colonial army in Yorktown Virginia. I think this is important because this is the day when the British surrendered and America became a free country.
