  1. I learned that Gorge Washington under estimated the British when he only put five people in one of the the valleys when I always thought he over estimated the British because the British had such a big army. This surprised me. I also learned that the Jersey prison ship used to be a ship for caring tea, this made sense because the British were probable using every ship they could get.I was surprised when I learned it took so long to fire a musket, it must have been scary if you were in a battle because a lot of people would be firing at you and you would have to do all those things in order to fire back. A lot of things surprised me.

  2. I leaned that in the battle of Brooklyn the American troops spilt up and tired to block the British but the britsh snuck up on them. George Washington had a fort called the battery and it held weapons. The British didn't want the fight to turn into a long war.

  4. One thing that I learned on the trip to the old stone house was that George Washington was born in Amercia. I think that thats why he moved his army to New York. Another thing that I learned is that the Biritish are sneaky I know this because they were supposed to attack from the north, but insead they attacked from the east. Also I leraned that people had to re-fill muskets, even if people were shooting at them. this shows that they had to be calm, and that is a very long process

  5. The first thing that I learned was that when the Americans and British were at war the old stone house was originally abandoned by a family. So when the British were fighting they took over the house to make it a base for them.

The second thing that I learned was that the men would have to carry all of there stuff on their back when they were traveling all over hills to get to their bases.

The last thing I learned was that fisher man were fishing in the river and George Washington got them to help them and drive them over to another one of their base and the British didn't except that.

  6. On the trip I learned that the Americans were protecting a place called the Battery and if the British stole the Americans weapons they would lose the war. Another thing that I learned was that the Americans had a secret weapon that the British didn't know about, it was fishers that were really good at navigating where fish were going to be and no matter what weather it was they would still do their job.

  9. What I learned when I went to the old stone house had a battle around it. Also where Trader Joe's on Court Street had a hugeee hill .The highest point of that flag marks the height of a hill that General George Washington stood atop in August 1776 to survey his troops who were fighting the British army in the Battle of Brooklyn. That s next to my houseee. Also I learned the old stone house was on a big house. When I went in the old stone house a saw a lot of stuff that were the British army fighting. The most funest part was a saw is a huge gun not joking for real. Also my teacher got to hold it it was bigger then her and I think the gun was from the 1760 when the battle stated to fight it was oh my god. I coudn't say even a word even my class we were scared we thougt there was a bullet. THere was'nt . good

  11. 1. I learnt how to load a gun – you would wrap a bullet with paper and put gun powder in the gun. I'm surprised how the Americans loaded the guns with that much going on.

    2. I learned that George Washington hid five soldiers in one of the valleys between the hills and the British either captured or killed them, and that George Washington wasn't expecting that much power from them.

    3. George Washington's soldiers were not trained well and were weak, and the British soldiers were good with guns and there were more British than Americans.

  13. 3 Things I Learned From the Old Stone House:
    1. The British got to the Old Stone House before the Americans did.
    2. The Old Stone House was moved about 500 feet from where it originally was.
    3. The Old Stone House saw action in the Battle of Brooklyn.
    4. A musket weighs about 30 pounds.
    5. A soldier would take about 20 seconds to reload their musket. I knew they should be able to do it in a matter of seconds, but I didn't know the exact number and I thought it would be about 20-30 seconds.

  14. 1. The Old Stone House was attacked six times during the Battle of Brooklyn, which took place during the Revolutionary War.

    2. The British used the Old Stone House as a fort during the Battle of Brooklyn. The British won the battle but failed to capture washington and his army, which withdrew across the East River, and eventually win the war.

3.Germany fought for the British during the Revolutionary War. The german troops were paid to fight the colonist and were called Hessians.

  16. I learned that British troops would hide at the stone house and used it as a fort for their troops and because it was a stone house it was stronger than a normal fort so it was safer. 2 .I also learned that George Washington and the patriots would constantly passTrader Joe's because they could see more of the loyalist troops from a safe distance. Also where Trader Joe’s is now used to be a hill. 3. American troops had to carry all their weapons by hand which meant those patriots rarely used horses while carrying guns, canons, food and more from one place to another. 4. Also you had to be fast to reload guns and canons or you would get shot. 5. Someone in the revolutionary war was walking home and got shot at his door and died in front of his wife and kids.
